I've been silent for a week because our basement flooded - BOO! Finally had a bit of time to put this highlights reel from this year's revolver nationals. Let me know what you think!
Way to go Julie! In Handguns, my first love is the revolver. It was great to see you shoot that 929 so well. I learned a long time ago when I was in the service that women were just as capable as men and sometimes more so. You are a great Champion and ambassador for the shooting sports. Congratulations on your win!!
Ms Golob, Been patiently waiting for this one ever since you teased us with the run through a couple of weeks ago... Mr Miculek would have been so pleased with how quickly you handled those reloads ;-) And shooting left handed was quite impressive! Congrats on another title!!! So nice to see a real Lady doing so well in such a difficult sport to master :-) What a great role model for our up and coming young ladies !!! God Bless :-)
Your a great ambassador to the sport and role model. Thanks for being so positive and sharing your time to respond to comments. Awesome work with the wheel gun.
Thanks for hauling the gear with you to the match, setting it up, getting the footage (including recruiting camera personnel), editing, and posting. Your match productions are always superlative. Enjoy watching and learning from them. Congratulations on your title too. Sorry to hear about the flood. Hope all the cleaning is finished and nothing precious was damaged or destroyed.
I loved watching you shoot the 2016 revolver nationals. I wish my revolver shooting and reloading was as smooth and fast as your's. Thanks for letting us watch you.
Julie thank you so much for the awesome footage of your revolver prowess. It was a pleasure watching you glide through the stages. I've been 'dry practicing' the sitting and reading part of those stages, I think I can go live with confidence! (ha ha).
We have both 627 V-Comp & 929, I prefer the 929 as it has a longer sight radius & hence more accurate, but wrestling it away from my better half is the problem. She feels comfortable using my 627 but it isn't as accurate as the 929( Her Gun). If fact I had a squib the other day in a comp (IPSC) & fired again & buggered the barrel. I am now getting a 6.5" Barrel on it so we will see how it truly compare's once the work is done.... Maybe I should do a shootout test between 627 & 929 after the new barrel is on.
Out of the box it's going to run all day long. It's smooth but it is heavy. You can have trigger work done to lighten it up. I had Apex do mine for competition but it was tuned specific to the ammo to make sure it gets solid primer hits every time.
Thank you so much. I put this video in my 929 good information library for future reference. thanks for the links for products..,the Hogue grip link did not seem to work..love that grip. Have an awesome weekend. Hey I did a recent video for people to vote which pistol I shoot tommorow...CZ SP-01 or 1911 in an outlaw fun match...please vote if you get time.
Was it on a swinging target or stationary? If stationary, some stages required a specific number of shots on each target. It can change depending on the stage of fire.
Ah yes... that one was a little goofy. You had to engage target 1 with one round only, target 2 with 2 shot and target 3 with 3 then do a reload and shoot the first target with 1 the 4th target with 2 and the 3rd target with 3. BRAIN TEASER
Always love your videos .. Sent FB message .. Remember my mentioning my first USPSA match is this weekend? Its in Watervaliet, NY It seems my squad captain is Mary Melisi ... She knows you and your dad .. :) small world Julie G. I also just moved back to Gloversville, NY from Rome, NY ..
+Julie Golob We got lucky nothing was ruined. The town we lived in had to pay for everything considering it was their fault. Plus it gave me an excuse to redo the basement anyways. lol. I hope nothing was ruined for you either.
I'm sorry I misunderstood. We had the same thing here in Detroit in July 2014 because the city didn't run their pumps and open the storm drains during a heavy storm. Cars were washed away on some of our freeways. My coworker had almost 4 feet of water in her basement. I hope yours was not that bad.
My 929 just broke and right before Nationals. I don't think anyone will be able to fix it in time. And because your not going to be there this year I will not get a selfie. Double Sadness. 😪.
Hey Julie as soon as my room mate that says I love you and never leaves me alone gets done with college I'm going to go to the police academy. So 2 things. Care to share the gun u would pick and if Uve ever heard of any restrictions when picking a gun for law enforcement. Idk if there is any this is a choice I've made in the last 6 months so havnt really researched it to much
So... I would choose a polymer frame gun in 9mm if I could and my top choice would be the M&P. I love the small grip, no finger grooves, ergonomics and the way it shoots. I prefer 9mm because of the capacity but you may have to go with .40 and if that's the case, the M&P is definitely my favorite. It's the first polymer framed gun that was built to shoot .40 first. Whereas other guns converted their 9mm models, the M&P was made to shoot .40 first and therefore has been more robust and has been more reliable than it's competitors.
Thanks for the info, the 2 I had in mind were the sig 226 or a glock. But I've never should a m&p, I've got some buddy's that owns a few I'll have to ask barrow it and give it a shot. Only reason I stayed away from them is cus everyone said the triggers were bad

AWESOME job Julie! I love revolvers in the hands of pros! Btw, maybe sump pump for basement.
Beautiful! Your shooting is great too.
Two comments: 1. That 929 is huge in your hands!
2. You make this all look so easy!

Blushes... thank you!!
Julie, that is just awesomeness! Lots of reloading with revolvers. Thank goodness for moon clips/ speed loaders. ❤️ 😎
Your a great ambassador to the sport and role model. Thanks for being so positive and sharing your time to respond to comments. Awesome work with the wheel gun.
Fantastic work, looks like a lot of fun too
Nice job Julie, your stance , movement on the course, and trigger CONTROL was great , even at the end YES, :-) glad you had fun :-)

You rock, Cathy. Thank you for the kind words and keep at it!
Congrats on another championship... Awesome!
Loved the enthusiastic "YES!" at the end! XD
I went for one for one on the steel stage.
I was so stoked!
Such an inspiration to get into competition shooting (especially something different like a revolver!). Very cool!
Wow Julie, really nice handling of that revolver. Good to see you keep on having fun.
Just got to watching competition videos, you’re the first one. Nice!
Don't Mess with Julie.😮😮
Julie thank you so much for the awesome footage of your revolver prowess. It was a pleasure watching you glide through the stages. I've been 'dry practicing' the sitting and reading part of those stages, I think I can go live with confidence! (ha ha).
:) Thanks!
Awesome ! Revolver comp is on my bucket list . Nice reloads .
Thanks!
awesome shooting.
You shoot that 929 smooth. Can't wait to get mine.
awesome... Cannot decide between a 627 and the 9mm
What can you get ammo easily for? That might be the best way to decide.

Got my mug of coffee and I'm kicking back watching Julie compete.
That looks like so much fun :)
Now I am sorry I missed seeing this in person. One handed and weak hand, too! Wow!
(I'm that Illinois lawyer)
Hey you! :)
Nice job Julie
stunning
nice shooting Julie
Videos like this has me wanting to start shooting Revolver Division. Also getting tired of looking and bending down for brass. LOL
LOL
Your videos make me want to try this sport. Could you do a video about how to get started shooting in competitions, at a very low level perhaps?
DAY MADE! Actually I am working on that concept right now! :)
nice and consistent
Very awesome Julie. What revolver were you shooting?
Thanks! It's a S&W 929 :)
You're good you. You have a lot of stamina! Do you have to workout a lot to stay that fast and accurate?
Crossfit :)
I really like that 929. I have heard the trigger is not nice from the factory. What type of trigger changes do recommend to make one usable?
Out of the box it's going to run all day long. It's smooth but it is heavy. You can have trigger work done to lighten it up. I had Apex do mine for competition but it was tuned specific to the ammo to make sure it gets solid primer hits every time.

Looks very fun...but I think I'd get confused on which to shoot first and how many times each!!!!!
The vast majority of the time paper targets get 2 and steel must fall to score. :)
I noticed on the one stage you gave the targets one shot then came back and placed the second shot!! Thanks again for sharing with all of us!
Was it on a swinging target or stationary? If stationary, some stages required a specific number of shots on each target. It can change depending on the stage of fire.
@ 1:20 is where I'm talking about. But in the all the other stages is it your choice on the order you engage the targets?
Ah yes... that one was a little goofy. You had to engage target 1 with one round only, target 2 with 2 shot and target 3 with 3 then do a reload and shoot the first target with 1 the 4th target with 2 and the 3rd target with 3. BRAIN TEASER

That is a small world!!! Hope you had a GREAT time. :)
Awesome as always. I totally understand the flooded basement problem. I had to deal with one back in April. 😨😨😨 Keep up the awesome work. 👍👍👍👍🔫🔫🔫
+John Pagdilao :( Sorry to hear you had the flood blues too!!!
+Julie Golob We got lucky nothing was ruined. The town we lived in had to pay for everything considering it was their fault. Plus it gave me an excuse to redo the basement anyways. lol. I hope nothing was ruined for you either.
Glad your basement remodel was paid for! Conratulations, nice shooting!!
Oh... well, not paid for but it is what it is. We have an emergency fund for such things.
On the bright side, congratulations on wining the National Title!!
Oh... that's awful. Ours was so not that bed. Annoying and expensive but not catastrophic.
Nice wheeling J/G!!! That is a pretty gun as well. Spur-less double action only? Very nice, and good shooting!
Thanks!
I pull so many shots right with my double action only 929.
Welcome
Cool...👍
Sorry about the basement. Awesome shooting!
Good shooting (except for the end lol). Does a wheel gun feel weird in your hands. Does mine.
It definitely takes some getting used to at first :)
My 929 just broke and right before Nationals. I don't think anyone will be able to fix it in time. And because your not going to be there this year I will not get a selfie. Double Sadness. 😪.
OH NO!!!!!! :(
Is that an Apex hammer?
Do u use moonclips
Yes
Hey Julie as soon as my room mate that says I love you and never leaves me alone gets done with college I'm going to go to the police academy. So 2 things. Care to share the gun u would pick and if Uve ever heard of any restrictions when picking a gun for law enforcement. Idk if there is any this is a choice I've made in the last 6 months so havnt really researched it to much
Also how did u get the unlimited ammo perk for your revolver?
LOL.... 25 years in the making. Based on performances and speaking abilities.
Thanks for the info, the 2 I had in mind were the sig 226 or a glock. But I've never should a m&p, I've got some buddy's that owns a few I'll have to ask barrow it and give it a shot. Only reason I stayed away from them is cus everyone said the triggers were bad
Try for yourself and see what you like and feel most confident with. THAT'S MOST important :)
@1:45 this is what you... came... for
I was halfway through the video before I realized that she was running an 8-shot gun.
:)
OMG! Please come to train the NYC Police on the right way of shooting...your killing me....
I am horrible with revolvers
Just takes practice.
