Yeah, I will just say if you're not into music that's more..."experimental" then you might not get nct lol. SM does some crazy things with songs, but somehow they make it work! Hello Future is a big fan favourite because of the time period it came out had a feel good message that everyone craved and they were still riding the high of having their 1st full album release (HF was a repackage title track). I'm surprised you weren't keen because Dream is kinda the most generally "listenable" unit in nct imo with their bright infectious music but hey, horses for courses etc. It's always daunting starting out with nct, but if you really want to you can do this! 😄💪🏻
23:02 For a bit Mark was in all of the units that existed at the time (before WayV). He was in 127 and Dream and then they used him in a number of U concept songs. Boy was working so hard. Glad that they redistributed a bit to give him a break. I can't imagine how many hours he was working.
MY ULT GROUP! JAEHYUN (MAN IN THE SUIT IN KICK IT) MY ULT BIAS IN ALL OF KPOP I LOVE THAT MAN SO MUCH!!!! Sorry I'm just super excited you reacted to NCT!! I love this group with my whole heart and soul!
NCT's whole group concept is based on dreams, so in NCT-U's "Make a Wish" (Birthday Song)" they talk about making a wish like on your birthday because wishes are often things you dream of happening. Everything NCT does is about dreams, dreaming or being in a dream state. SM Entertainment is known for having some of the best dancers and singers in the industry. That is just a fact about the type of people SM selects to be a part of its company. You can't be an SM artist without having amazing singing and dance skills. So even the company's rappers are unbelievable singers and dancers. That is why the company has gained the reputation as the vocal powerhouse of the industry, who also happens to have some of the industry's top dancers. SM is the company that founded the Kpop industry with the very first Kpop idol group H.O.T. (Highfive Of Teenager) back in 1996, and they are now one of the largest and most influential entertainment companies in Korea and around the world. The company spares not expense when it comes to their videos, stages or concerts, etc. because they know that whatever they spend they will get it back 10 fold in profits. SM is one of the most innovative and trendsetting companies in Korea. That experimental sound is what SM is known for, and you will often hear how it switches up the beat to a completely different song in the middle of the song. This is just something you have to come to expect from an SM song, and especially NCT songs. It started with songs like Girls' Generation's "I Got A Boy," and they have done it with SHINee's "Sherlock (Clue & Note)", F(X) and Red Velvet songs, and even SuperM's song "One (Monster & Infinity)." And I am sure you now recognize the same style in aespa's songs*. It's a very signature SM style. *aespa is NCT's sister group, so that is why you see a scene from aespa's "Black Mamba" MV at the end of the "Make a Wish" MV. SM often adds teasers to its groups' comebacks or debuts, etc. in its other groups' MVs. (You will also see them tease to aespa's debut at the end of SuperM's "One (Monster & Infinity)" MV.) aespa debuted about a month later. Plus, as with all the groups under SM Entertainment, their storylines and concepts are all part of SM's SM Culture Universe, which connects all its groups' and artists' storylines together like a giant graphic novel or mystery movie series. Here is some information about how NCT works. I hope this might make it a little easier to understand. NCT is different than any other Kpop group in the industry. NCT (which stands for Neo Culture Technology) currently has 23 members. And the group right now as a whole has 4 sub-units. The way NCT works is it's a group with an infinite number of members. (There are an unknown number of trainees who are still waiting to debut who could potentially become members of NCT.) As SM Entertainment's male trainees graduate from the training program and SM decides they are ready to debut, they become a member of NCT and they debut as part of one of NCT's sub-units. (They just added 2 new members -- Sungchan and Shotaro -- at the end of 2020, who are expected to eventually become members of a new sub-unit.* ) *NCT probably will be growing to 26 members soon. SM has been showcasing 3 new SMRookies -- Shohei, Eunseok and Seunchan -- lately and they just recently performed at the SMTown concert with Sunchan and Shotaro. So, by all indications, it looks more and more like NCT will be getting 3 new members and they probably will be part of the new unit. It is speculated that the next sub-unit will be a Japanese based unit because Shotaro and Shohei are Japanese. NCT is a group that is constantly changing and rearranging its members and sound and we never know quite what to expect from them. With an infinite number of members and a concept that allows the members to rotate between sub-units, changing, adding and subtracting members depending on the concept and style of the song, you should never expect the same thing from them. You are better off always expecting something new, that somehow, also ends up sounding very much like NCT. LOL NCT is a very international group. The members as a whole currently represent 9 different countries and they speak 8 different languages. For example, there are 10 native Korean members (Taeyong, Doyoung, Taeil, Haechan, Jaehyun, Jeno, Jaemin, Jisung, Jungwoo and SungChan), Mark is Korean-Canadian, Johnny is Korean-American, Yuta and Shotaro are Japanese, Ten is Thai, Lucas is Chinese-Thai from Hong Kong, YangYang is Taiwanese but he grew up in Germany, Hendery is Chinese from Macau (China) and 5 mainland Chinese members (WinWin, Kun, Xiaojun, Renjun and Chenle). NCT-U is NCT's first sub-unit which debuted in April 2016. NCT-U is made up of pretty much all the members, they just add and subtract members from all the other sub-units depending on the concept for the song. NCT-U songs can have anywhere from all the members or only 1 or 2 members. The U stands for United, but I also like to think of it as Universal because of the way the group never has a fixed number of members. As you saw, "Make A Wish (Birthday song)" has 7 members -- Taeyong (NCT's leader, main rapper and main dancer), Doyoung (main vocal) and Jaehyun (main vocal and visual), who are members of NCT-127; Lucas (rapper and visual) and Xiaojun (main vocal), who are members of WayV; Jaemin (lead rapper), who is a member of NCT-Dream; and Shotaro (main dancer), who has not been made a member of a fixed group yet. If you like their dancing you really have to check out the dance practice for "Make A Wish (Birthday Song)." NCT are known for their dancing and they have a dance practice video for almost everything they do. Plus, they have behind the scenes of them filming the MV and in the studio recording the song, etc. The second sub-unit is NCT-127 which began in July 2016. NCT-127 currently has 9 or 10 members. This group is more of a fixed unit so the members don't change quite as much. The 127 in this unit's name stands for the longitude coordinates of Seoul, South Korea, on a map of the world. So it's 127's job to represent Seoul -- the birthplace of Kpop -- around the world. (There are 9 members in "Kick It" -- Taeyong, Taeil, Johnny, Yuta, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Jungwoo, Mark and Haechan. Mark and Haechan are also members of NCT-Dream.) SM actually hired a movie fight trainer and martial arts coach to teach the members of NCT-127 how to do the kicks, punches and use the nunchucks, etc. for their "Kick It" MV. If you really want to see how they filmed the MV and song, you should watch the behind the scenes of them recording "Kick It" and the behind the scenes of them filming the MV. You will be even more impressed when you see how much work and detail went into this MV. Plus, if you like their dancing, you have to check out the dance practice videos for "Kick It" because the MV doesn't even begin to do the choreography justice. I guarantee, there are parts of these dances that you didn't even notice, that will become clear in the dance practice. ;D And if you want to see them in the studio learning the choreography, check out the Uncut dance practice vlogs as well. Most people don't get all the references to Bruce Lee in "Kick It" (Chinese/Korean title "Hero") even though everything is based on being like Bruce Lee -- hence why they say Bruce Lee like a hundred times in the song LOL -- and black and yellow are Bruce Lee's signature colors -- so, that is why "Kick It" used those colors. (Many say this MV reminds them of the Movie "Kill Bill," without realizing that movie is based on Bruce Lee-style action movies and is sort of a homage to Bruce Lee.) As you may know, the finger move on the side of their nose is a signature Bruce Lee move. Bruce Lee is a Chinese action hero, so even though this is one of the Korean sub-units of NCT, those are Chinese characters you see on the signs in the MV, etc. Please see the rest of my comment attached in the reply.
NCT-Dream is NCT's third sub-unit, which began in August 2016 and it is made up of the 7 youngest members of the group. All the Dream member's are currently between the ages of 20 and 23 years old (they were 14-17 when they debuted.) SM originally created NCT-Dream with the idea that if they had a trainee that they felt was ready to debut even though they were really young, they would start out as a member of NCT-Dream. They were the cute babies of the group who were learning the ropes and honing their skills because they are young, but they are also some of the most talented because they debuted way sooner than a lot of trainees. The way NCT-Dream originally was designed to work was that the members were part of the group until they turn 19 and become an adult. SM's original plan was that when the members turned 19 they were supposed to graduate from the group and they were no longer considered a member of NCT-Dream. Mark (the leader/captain of Dream) "graduated" from NCT-Dream in 2018, and Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin and RenJun we thought would be graduating in 2019 and form a new NCT sub-unit or be add to a sub-unit that already existed. (Which would have left NCT-Dream with only 2 members, with the idea that new trainees would probably debut sometime in 2020 and become members of NCT-Dream.) However, SM announced at the beginning of 2020 that they decided to make NCT-Dream a permanent group and suspend the whole "graduation" concept, including putting Mark back in the group. "Hello Future" is the title track of NCT-Dream's album, which came out in June 2021, and it's one of their most popular songs. There are 7 members in this MV -- Mark, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, RenJun, Chenle and Jisung. (Mark and Haechan are also members of NCT-127.) As with all of NCT's MVs, you should really check out the dance practice for "Hello Future." You will be even more impressed with their dancing when you see the choreography in full without any cuts or edits. The fourth sub-unit is WayV -- which stands for We Are Your Vision in English -- or WeishenV in Mandarin, debuted at the beginning of 2019. They are NCT's Chinese sub-unit who produces songs in Mandarin and promotes in China. There are currently 7 members in this sub-unit. All the members of WayV have Chinese heritage, but like Ten who is Thai -- his grandparents are Chinese -- they aren't all native Chinese. The reason why WayV doesn't have NCT in their name like the other sub-units is because, at the time of their debut, the conflict between the Korean and Chinese government was at its peak and China wasn't allowing anyone associated directly with a Korean company to do business in its country. Because of this conflict, SM had to find/create a Chinese company -- Label V -- that was willing to represent NCT's Chinese sub-unit, but would also allow SM to have control over the group's concept and activities. When WayV was formed, most of the members of WayV had already debuted as members of NCT-U or NCT-127 -- Ten, Lucas and WinWin. Plus, 3 new members who joined NCT specifically to debut as members of WayV because they were Chinese -- Xiaojun, Hendrey and YangYang. Kun, the leader of WayV, debuted in 2018 as a member of NCT's special project group NCT-2018. Fun fact: "Kick Back" also has a Korean version MV. WayV was stuck in Korea for so long because of the pandemic and was unable to promote in China, that SM decided to make a Korean version of their song so they could promote on Korean music shows. "Kick Back" -- and one of their other songs, "Bad Alive" -- were the first time that WayV really promoted in Korea and they actually started appearing on Korean variety shows and TV programs during this comeback. Consider checking out WayV's dance practice video for "Kick Back." Fun fact No. 2: Lisa from BlackPink was a dance coach and mentor on a Chinese trainee survival reality TV show, and one of the trainee groups on the show had to perform WayV's "Kick Back," so Lisa asked Ten -- NCT's/WayV's main dancer -- to teach her the choreography. There is a clip of Ten and Lisa practicing together when they met at YG's dance studio and Ten taught her the dance in an hour or two, th-cam.com/video/xm9EtYiy9vc/w-d-xo.html. (As you may know, Ten and Lisa are both Thai, so they have become good friends.) NCT is SM's attempt at taking over the music industry around the world. SM's goal is to eventually have NCT sub-units representing every major city in every country in the world. Some day they hope to, for example, take several Japanese members and create a Japanese sub-unit, or put together members from Thailand and create a Thai sub-unit, etc. It has always been SM's plan to have world domination. And to that point, right now NCT-127 is the group that SM is using to try and get their foothold in the U.S. music market with songs like "Regular" and "Highway to Heaven" and collaborations with American artists such as Jason Derulo, as well as a U.S. concert tour and promotional tours with the American media, etc. So, this year is NCT's 6th anniversary, but debut dates are different for any number of members because it all depends on when they were added to the group. And many of the members of NCT actually became recognized by fans even before debut because they were part of SM's pre-debut group project called SMRookies, so SM did activities with several of the members before they debuted. Taeyong (the leader of NCT and a member of NCT-U and NCT-127), Mark (a member of all of NCT's first 3 sub-units -- NCT-U, NCT-127 and NCT-Dream) and Ten and Lucas (members of NCT-U and WayV) are also members of the very first Kpop supergroup, SuperM, which is an SM group consisting of members from EXO, SHINee, NCT and WayV.
The reason why there's a scene from Black Mamba at the end of Make a Wish is because SM always spoils their upcoming comebacks/debuts at the end of other groups' music videos. Make a Wish came out a little before Aespa's debut with Black Mamba so they put the spoiler at the end
First time I listened to 'Hello Future' i stopped it half way coz i just didn't get it. I gave it a 2nd chance & it grew on me. Now it's one of my favourite songs 😅. Blue haired guy from 'Make A Wish' is Taeyong the Leader of all of NCT 😊.
That teaser IS from Black Mamba... good job! 😄 Never seen a reactor get that. I swear SM needs to give Loona a kick back for every reactor that finds NCT through that cover. 😂😂 Hopefully you'll check out the original someday, along with one of the dance practice versions as the mv REALLY doesn't do it justice (in one version the camera moves, the other it's static) . In general though, if choreo is something you're drawn to, I would suggest including all NCT dance practices... there's a reason they're one of the most consistently covered groups by other idols. No one person is in all of the fixed units btw (Mark and Haechan are simultaneously in 127 and Dream tho), but (as you touched on) everyone can be apart of NCT U... the U stands for United and it's basically the mix 'n' match unit. Just depends on who fits that particular songs concept best and we never know until the song drops who'll that be. We typically only see this unit during special all-member album eras though, of which there have been 3 so far, in the 6 years they've been active. To cap off each of these era's, there is an all-member mv too. If you'd like to see what all of them together is like, I'd suggest NCT 2020's 'Resonance'... be forewarned though, it's a mashup of 4 songs. 'Make A Wish', '90's Love' and 'Work It', plus one more track off the album (that doesn't have an mv), called 'Raise The Roof'. You're finding them at a good time btw, while they're still *"only"* 23... 🙃word has it a new Japanese unit is on the immediate horizon. Debut date and official member list is TBA... but my spidey senses tell me it'll be in the 1st quarter of next year. Also, 127 is dropping a new album on 9/16... looks pretty bad ass from the teasers we've gotten so far. WayV is the Chinese unit of NCT... meaning, while they live and train in South Korea, they mainly promote in China. Unfortunately, due to political tensions between the two countries and China's general anti-Hallyu stance, in order to promote there SM had to create at least the appearance of separation from the label and NCT, which is why they don't carry the moniker. Had they been able to they would have been called NCT Vision, but as it stands WayV is an acronym for We Are Your Vision. They are still every bit a part of NCT though. Personally, Kick Back is my least favorite title track of theirs... not that I think it's bad, it's just not on the same level as some of their others. I would've suggested 'Turn Back Time' or the mv for their b-side called 'Bad Alive' as an introduction to them as they tend to leave a big impression. While Hello Future was an immediate favorite for me, I've seen a few reactors have the same response as you... but NCT is pretty well known for having an experimental twist to their music, that often requires an additional listen or two before the brain can relax enough to enjoy it. 🤷♀ For Dream, I think you'd like 'Hot Sauce' or 'Glitch Mode' better. Anyhoo, I really enjoyed your reaction and hope you continue to explore them. 💚😊 Side note... in the 90's I had a history teacher that you are the spitting image of and it's really fxxking with me. LOL
Hi! NCTzen (what are fandom called) here🙋🏻♀️ To explain why there's no NCT on WayV's name is because of the political issues between China and South Korea. WayV's main market is China as the members were chinese (one member is thai but with chinese descent). NCT 127 - the 127 in their name is the longtitude of Seoul, South Korea and their target is to bring their music from Seoul to the whole world. Their music is more experimental (most of NCT's music we call them NCT noise). NCT Dream - their target is the younger gp (gen public) since they debuted on their teens (when they debuted, the oldest at that time was 17 and their youngest was 14). Their music is more on lighter side. They used to have a graduation system meaning that when a member reached their 20 yrs of age, they will graduate and will be put on a different group. But since they begin to have a large fanbase and requested SM to remove the graduation system, the company abolished this type of system and made the Dream a fixed unit. NCT U - this is a rotational unit. Whoever fits the song concept regardless from which unit the members came from will be included in a song (It can be 2, 3 or 7 members). The U in NCT U means "United". NCT's concept is limitless, meaning the members and units will be added. There are currently 23 members (1 is still hiatus) and there are 3 SM Rookies were introduced (but they were not yet officially introduced as NCT members). They might be included in the upcoming new NCT unit which is NCT Tokyo unit. I would love to recommend you some songs from each unit for you to check out next: NCT 127 - Fire Truck (debut song) - Limitless - Touch - Regular (eng ver) - Simon Says - Superhuman - Punch - Sticker - Favorite NCT Dream (you should watch them from debut to their recent song. You'll see how the boys grew up🥲) - Chewing Gum (debut song) - My First and Last - We Young - Go - We Go Up - Boom - Ridin' - Hot Sauce - Glitch Mode - Beatbox WayV - Dream Launch - Regular (chinese ver) - Take off - Moonwalk - Love Talk - Turn Back Time - Bad Alive (eng ver) - Action Figure - Miracle (there's no MV for this only a track video which means it doesnt have a full MV) NCT U - The 7th Sense (debut song; this is the beginning of NCT) - Without U - Boss - Baby Don't Stop - Yestoday - From Home - 90's Love - Work It - Universe (Let's Play Ball) NCT 2018 (18 members during that time) - Black on Black NCT 2020 (23 members) - Resonance (mash up of Make a Wish, Raise the Roof, 90's Love and Work It) NCT 2021 (21 members; 2 members were on hiatus that time) - Beautiful Hope i could help you a bit exploring NCT. Welcome to Neo City! 😊

Mark and Haechan are also members of NCT-Dream.)
SM actually hired a movie fight trainer and martial arts coach to teach the members of NCT-127 how to do the kicks, punches and use the nunchucks, etc. for their "Kick It" MV.
Consider checking out WayV's dance practice video for "Kick Back."
Fun fact No. (As you may know, Ten and Lisa are both Thai, so they have become good friends.)
NCT is SM's attempt at taking over the music industry around the world.
3:22 *His name is Johnny*
3:47, 4:29, 5:35 *His name is Jaehyun*
First time I listened to 'Hello Future' i stopped it half way coz i just didn't get it. I gave it a 2nd chance & it grew on me. Now it's one of my favourite songs 😅. Blue haired guy from 'Make A Wish' is Taeyong the Leader of all of NCT 😊.
For more nct you should react to
Nct 127- limitless rough ver.
Wayv- moonwalk
Nct u- the 7th sense
Nct Dream- Boom

Side note... in the 90's I had a history teacher that you are the spitting image of and it's really fxxking with me. LOL
Nct 127 has 9 members dream has 7 and also wayv has 7
Hi! NCTzen (what are fandom called) here🙋🏻♀️
To explain why there's no NCT on WayV's name is because of the political issues between China and South Korea.
