I was using the english as they were thought as the easy civ, but when I played with the Russian just for fun whoa the improvement was tremendous, MVP of the match! the tower next to the wood thing is the key and the hunting ervy animal around to rise the bounty bonus asap. Then lots of cav archer and strelets and that's a nice counter, warrior monks can convert and fight so that's a good one too, very nice civ.
This helped me win my 2v2 MP match! Well my team mate carried me pretty hard but it was great to harrass early and steal their deer..ended up with so much bounty bonus before anyone even hit age 2 :) Thanks for the explanation!

Did you try luring wolves? The TC will kill one in 4 shots and they will follow your scout almost for infinity. On some maps you can find whole packs of wolves, and 4 = lvl1 upg. I'm not too good with micro, but some games are just asking for it =)
@@MorleyGames1 i usually do it too, when i meet just one, but as i said, if you walk around a pack it may be more optimal. I tend to find those packs on mountain pass and arabia.
I got a question regarding cabins. At some point, wouldn't you want to spam cabins over the map, in fact, just place one whenever you got some spar wood lying around? Wdyt?
I have just been watching the genesis tournament and the mista is spamming them around the map in early feudal. Ended up with 9 villagers worth if gold per minute.
@@MorleyGames1 I think they are only tricky for about two or three games, if you got how to manage them its really straight forward. And this is where you came into it, this vid will help alot people. :) I just managed to finish their mastery. Hardest AI wasn't that much of a challenge on dark forest. I rushed into wonder, made them push me, wiped them out and harassed them enough to have 10mins ease to count down the wonder.
Royal knights get +3 damage after charging, making them slightly better. They also have more techs as the game progresses. In the fuedal age a tech can allow them to heal out of combat which can get huge value if say the French escape with 4 knights at low hp- they will return a minute later at full hp.
Hey Morley. Have just found your channel after starting some AoE4. I love your videos and appreciate that you list out the build order as it helps new players like me remember! I love playing the Rus, but I can't seem to defend against French Royal Knight rush builds. Knights appear at ~6mins and blast through any spearmen I have, or harass me from all sides with their superior speed. Am I just playing poorly with my spearmen or are there any Rus builds like this one which you think would work against the French Knight rush? Cheers
Hi tony! Welcome to the channel, great to have you here! Thank you for your question. They key with rus vs french in the early game is to make sure that your whole eco is protected. The town center usually protects the lumber and food vills (unless you have gone to deer) and then you just need to place the kremlin in a spot that is out of range of the town center, normally the gold. A few clumps of spearmen guarding your vills should be enough, plus your own knights. With this build, you might need to swap a wood villager to food to change this to knights and spearmen. Don’t forget, spearmen are able to be created in the dark age, so in feudal age you will need to upgrade them to hardened spearmen in the barracks otherwise they will be weak. I would recommend building a wooden fortress at your trees to add further protection but they do cost 175 wood. Ultimately, the french are just a very OP civ unfortunately.

Isnt the the scout upgrade worth it to get to bring in the deer? I dont know the name of the upgrade but its from the hunting cabin. you have around 3-4 scouts anyway to bring in the deer. Or isnt it worth the 350 ressources?
Yes it is worth it but you’d need to delay it a little bit as it costs 275 gold which you need for knight production. But yeah, eventually add a few more on gold so that you can afford to get it :-)
A couple of cabins, good hunting, and especially if you get the tradehouse landmarket, you can get the upgrade instantly after going feudal. But as Morley said, this is a knight opening build order. I like going 7 super early scout and maybe burn down a building, then steal their deer, WHILE they're harvesting them. :)

Yeah are a really fun civ to play. Cav archers feel really strong

Yes, certainly a good idea for late game. :) especially if you can’t get trade going

You can have quite a few in the same area as long as the building doesnt fall within the influence of another

This build falls apart without the lumber camp. The hunting lodge doesn't collect wood

they made aoe 4 so good :D, i never cared for aoe 3
Yes, same with me. I had aoe3 when it first came out but never really liked it. Aoe4 is great though
