What you can do about empty drawers is for example put a red sticker on the back and then put the drawer back upside down (so then the front is at the back). Then you can see at a glance which drawers are empty and you have also solved the dust problem ;-).

I sort by colour. It has pros and cons.
But I've always done it that way and it would take forever to change now as I have over half a million parts ㄟ( ▔, ▔ )ㄏ

How do you find it when you are uploading then? What sort of process do you use - maybe I’m just being picky!

      @@kiwibrickexchange It's complicated:)
But I've made up a ruff system in my mind.
I have similar draws to the ones in your mates store. And I organize by size small to large left to right in one of those 7 draws units. And do tiles then curved slopes then plates then its becomes random because every colour is all over the place from there generally. To save space lately I have also started using big bins for all my 2x and up wide plates and bricks. It freed up a lot of draws. So most of the time picking, I don't even look at the draw number, I can find the part by memory within 1 to 4 draw usually.

Yeah and that's the thing - if it is setup for you and you know the way it works, thats an efficient way of doing things. What do you use for remarks when you get an order? Brickstore? or just from Bricklink?

@@kiwibrickexchange I still have the draw number in the remarks. Although I don't have time to check it every time I upload. I run this store by my self and already have to do 12 hours a day 7 days to make sure I ship same day every day. I add the draw number when I'm picking if I notice it's a new lot and haven't added the draw yet.
Also, I've never even heard of Brickstore:)
      I'm not an expert because I have a big store, I'm just making it up as I go ㄟ( ▔, ▔ )ㄏ

Do what works though right! I find Brickstore really useful for uploading and making sure my store is right when adding parts - I find I rarely have issues with things not in drawers so orders go smoothly.
