I literally just popped open TH-cam and saw this video at the top. It was perfect timing to see this because I'm planning to get my paddle's handle re-wrapped this Saturday. Very informative and funny video! LOL! Also, Catherine's pickleball gameplay is so entertaining to watch no matter if it's singles, with Anna-Leigh, or with Jack S.
I honestly think you have the coolest aesthetic looking paddle on the market! Really awesome video! Thanks for sharing! Remember lead tape is toxic so be careful touching it.
your the only pro pickleball play so far that hearts there comments and i am getting the SLK Parris Todd Signature Halo - XL - Control because my old on skl halo face cracked on the top edge gaurd
Thanks for sharing! Big day tomorrow. Good luck with it. I’m excited to see the outcome but more importantly I hope it all turns out the way you prefer!
Thank you for sharing this video, great job you really took your time going through the steps of your set up. I'm wondering that is a lot of weight (1/2 inch lead tape, two pieces of tungsten and electrical tape) all around the top frame of the paddle, I'm wondering if you ever added weight below the throat of the paddle to counter balance some of that head weight? Thanks!
As a fellow Quebecois, thanks for representing us. You mentioned that you change to a fresh paddle after each tournament, do you use that particular paddle for your pre-tournament practice sessions or do you have a dedicated practice paddle ? And what do you do with your paddle after the tournament, do you donate it or give it away ? Merci, bonne chance pour la saison.
Love representing Quebec! Yes I usually start with a brand new paddle on the Monday before the tournament. After the tournament sometimes I give them away and sometimes I keep them!
I was curious how big your over grip would measure out to be after your two wraps. Although I'm 6 feet tall, my tennis was always doubles and I felt a big grip was harder to use at the net. Same with pickleball for me.
I have a CRBN 3x. I put 3 strips of pre-cut lead tape (3 grams each) on both sides for a total of 6 strips, which equals 19 grams. My paddle now weighs 9.7 ounces. I don't have a problem playing with it or swinging it around.
If the paddle is 7.8oz I'm confused how after at least 15in of lead tape (which weights around .9 oz if it is 1 gram an inch) and the tungsten tape (which weighs .1oz) you still manage to keep your paddle at 8.4-8.6oz? I'm not trying to be rude or come across snappy but I am just curious because it seems that the final weight would be around 9oz when you are all finished, with the double layer of overgrip, the .9 oz of lead and the .1 oz of tungsten, I'm just trying to figure it out. I also like to use a hesagrip which adds about another .6oz, so how would you recommend I balance the weight so that it is not too heavy? Should I try to not use any lead and just use tungsten around the sides and the top, or should I only use lead on the top? What would you recommend? Thanks
1 Gram an Inch would be .5 ounces if it is 15 inches. Plus the .1 ounce of tungsten tap would be 7.8 + .6 = 8.4. The over grip adds a little bit more so that's why I say 8.4 - 8.6 ounces. To your other question I would recommend trying to put just the tungsten tape all the way around the paddle since it's lighter than the lead tape we use.
@@CatherineParenteauPB But to go all the way around the paddle is more like 30 inches, not 15... I just measured your signature paddle... Are you using half gram per inch lead tape, because the video links to a 1 gr (0.35 oz) / 1" lead tape. With that tape, at 30", lead alone adds 1 full oz...
Hey Catherine, I have a genuine question for you. If you are using the CP paddle and you say you don't like how the grip comes with it, why not have the grip in the CP paddle come just the way you like it?
Wow. This is a process. My question is, this is your signature paddle. Can't they make you a paddle to your specifications so you don't have to take all this time to modify it?
Not a fan, but very nice video. And your background music was at a perfect level. Could you please teach the PPA how to do the same in their videos? :)
@@andrewformentera8507 What, about the PPA, until this last weekend. Their YT video quality is the worst in any video I have seen. Their commentators constantly talk over live play, and usually about nothing with that game. To me, that is disrespectful to the players who have worked really hard to get there.
So that's about 15+ inches of lead tape, plus 6 or so inches of tungsten tape. Would you say the amount of weighted tape you use is typical among pro women? Or maybe most pro women use more or less weighted tape as far as you have seen?
sooo you got rid of your WHITE GRIP and put two layers of over grip because the supposed grip that come with the raquet is "too thick" for you lmao what a silly girl
Catherine Parenteau fan here!!

Laughing at your bloopers😂 Love watching you play!
Thanks for sharing, that was helpful. Love the bloopers too :)
So glad!
Great video! Wishing you the very best in the tournament this week! Hoping for big wins (multiple) for you! I love watching you play. Go get ’em!
Great job, making it look easy how to customized your paddle!!
t
Thanks Catherine, my daughter spells her name the same way. love watching you play. Good luck this year!
I really like watching Catherine. Great content. Good tips.
Thanks so much!
I LOVE CP!
Great vid..
cp is acronym for child porn 😭😭
I missed the weight of lead you are using.
You are one of my top three favorite players and have the best videos especially the outtakes.

So proud of this Canadian!! Bravo Catherine.
Big fan here 🇨🇦 and love your sense of humour! You’re always my first go to!!
Great vid Cat! Continue posting these amazing vids on TH-cam! LOVE your content!!🤍💙🤍
Thank you so much!!
Love the bloopers!
The tighter you pull the overgrip wrap the thinner the grip is.
Love your humor, accent and videos. You have a new fan and subscriber here. Keep up the great work and I love pickleball.
Awesome! Thank you! 🙏😊😊
Like the bloopers...you funny!
Nice setup! Bravo!
Je suis impressionné par ta performance et je te souhaite beaucoup de succès Catherine! 😊👍🏻
Hi Catherine, what is the final weight of your paddle when you add the lead, tungsten and electrical tape? Thanks.
8.4 - 8.6 ounces!
Seems closer to 9oz??
Thanks for the video Catherine. What is the finished weight of your paddle?
8.4 - 8.6 Oz
Perfect, good to know. Thank you.
Anytime! Thanks for watching 😊

Trying so hard to buy my wife your paddle she loves watching you and your pink skechers

Thanks for the kind words! No I don't use any counter balance below the throat of the paddle.
@@CatherineParenteauPB Awesome! Looks like I need to start working out =)
Bonne chance dans tes prochains tournois.
Thank you! How heavy is your paddle when you are done? How long do you use the same paddle (and why?)
8.4 - 8.6 ounces. I use a fresh paddle for every tournament because I feel like it slighty loses spin and power
Two questions. What’s your final paddle weight? Do you have a link for the Blue Tape?
Thanks for the share. What paddle thickness do play for singles and doubles? Merci
13 mm!

thank you for the informative video, helped a lot! one question though, what is the end weight of your paddle?
I hear so much about keeping a loose grip: do you find it easier with a larger, thicker grip or a smaller grip?
Yes! I find it easier to have a loose grip if my grip is not too small.
I was curious how big your over grip would measure out to be after your two wraps. Although I'm 6 feet tall, my tennis was always doubles and I felt a big grip was harder to use at the net. Same with pickleball for me.
She is gorgeous 😍
Step up tutorial is cool
What is the weight of the paddle once you’re finished customizing it?
How heavy/ what is the width of the lead tape ? :-)
How often do you change your entire paddle? With the grit of the paddle face wearing down?
As a professional player I change my paddle every tournament.
How much tape did you overlap? Quarter inch, eighth?
The lead tape size is 1/2 inch
Awesome video Catherine! So how much does it weight after your setup?
8.4 - 8.6 oz
What’s your paddle weigh after all is said and done?
Where do you get that blue electric tape

Thanks!
Merci très intéressant!
I just set up my paddle exactly like this and it is quite heavy, are you using 1G per inch lead tape?
How long do you use the paddle before you get a new one?
I use a new one every tournament!
@@CatherineParenteauPB Thanks a lot for your answer 🤍
Have you tried any other paddles? Why do you like the Selkirks?
Yes, I've tried many paddles! My power air is my favorite because I was looking for something that had a good combination of power and spin!
Curious - What's your paddle weight after everything?
She said it’s around 8.6oz
Yeah, 8.4 - 8.6oz

Hey Catherine, I have a genuine question for you. If you are using the CP paddle and you say you don't like how the grip comes with it, why not have the grip in the CP paddle come just the way you like it?
The paddles people get arent customized so this tutorial is as if someone buys a fresh paddle
What is the final weight of the paddle?
8.4 - 8.6 oz
Hello CP ❤... im guessing 8.3 oz
Okay but…. Did Athena ever get you your coffee? 😂
Yes! She always makes me coffee 😝🤣🤣
Why 2 overgrips on the handle?
Say that five times fast!! Thanks for the video!
Wow. This is a process. My question is, this is your signature paddle. Can't they make you a paddle to your specifications so you don't have to take all this time to modify it?
All paddles are manufactured the same way, so it is up to the player to modify the weight to their preference.
Why two overgrips?
Overgrip doesn’t work for me. My hand gets sweaty and the overgrip feels slippery.
Not a fan, but very nice video. And your background music was at a perfect level. Could you please teach the PPA how to do the same in their videos? :)

It's different across the board, some pro women's paddles are heavier, some lighter, and some similar. Its whatever people prefer!
My electrical tape falls off
sooo you got rid of your WHITE GRIP and put two layers of over grip because the supposed grip that come with the raquet is "too thick" for you lmao what a silly girl
two overgrips is thinner than a stock grip + overgrip
