What's important is what Obito said afterwards, "I will break the rules, and if that doesn't make me a true ninja, then I'll crush this so-called ninja!!" You all know what will happen.
In my opinion they could have kept this for later on since it spoils too much minato identity and I know it was already hinted a lot of times since the beginning of the show but it would have been more of a surprise if we discover that the fourth is naruto father during the pain fight. like it could have been a more powerful moment imo. (but kakashi death wouldt have been as powerful tho).
@JohnJohnson27-cs6ix You dont think naruto meeting minato would have been a much more emotional and shocking moment if we never saw that he was the hokage? tho i agree that kakashi death would not be that meaningful.
Obito’s speech to kakashi at the end reminds me of Naruto’s speech to zabuza. They both have a young “not true” shinobi (naruto/Obito) trying to appeal to the emotions of “true” shinobi (kakashi/zabuza), with a sacrificial lamb (rin/haku) being the focus. It shows how Obito had the potential to be a main character or great shinobi if he was a bit luckier. He really was the coolest guy.

I actually like the Kakashi gaiden episodes’ placement. If they were at the beginning, then the viewer would probably forget about them, and placing them just before Tobi becomes the main villain is smart in retrospect

Chidori is pure elemental manipulation. There's nothing inherently about it that requires the Sharingan to perform, just that it's fatal flaw is impossible to overcome without the Sharingan's ability to read movements instantly.
