I used to love Firebase Z just because as someone who wasn't super into zombies before Cold War, it was a map where I could easily do the EE solo, even in a group of strangers who were doing their own thing. I would just go into public lobbies and do the easter egg without anyone even noticing until the giant laser blasted down and there was a cutscene of us rescuing Sam. Hearing people get confused and excited was honestly such a fun experience.
I still am I think Jug had a glitch where if you fully upgraded it you'd go down quicker instead of being given an extra hot So I've never upgraded it even when I play from time to time 😂
The only issues that I've ever had with cold war zombies, was that you needed to be online to play half the game. That, and the menus that opened when using PaP or the Wonderfizz. The menus weren't too bad with controller, seeing as you could switch from option to option with the click of a button but it was a whole lot worse when playing with mouse and keyboard which was a nice addition for console players
Yeah, I play on console and most of the Easter eggs and side stuff are just not available because I don't pay for the only subscription. It's really annoying and takes away from a zombies mode I otherwise enjoy.

nice to see someone not just hate on cold war for the sake of it. i always thought it was the most fun zombies game ive played, not necessarily the best, but the most fun.

Personally, I love Cold War Zombies. I love how relaxing it got, and allowed me to unwind and have fun. I don’t really have much to say about the co-op portion of Zombies, because it would super glitchy for me because Cold War had a lot of issues (Activision are greedy mother phuckers). Die Machine was a great starter map. Firebase Z provided a healthy challenge, Mauer Der Toten felt familiar with the reintroduction of the Panzer Soldat, and Forsaken is kinda like Moon, but slightly easier. I loved the wonder weapons, with the D.I.E. Shockwave being my all time personal favorite wonder weapon in the game. Outbreak was also fun, but a bit boring and repetitive (but better DMZ Zombies). I never played Dead Ops, so comment there. And Onslaught was fun, but had it’s frustrating moments for me. All in all, Cold War Zombies was extremely fun, and I can’t wait to see what BO6 Zombies does.

I like the super Easter egg for purple rarity guns on game start Also just to let people know you don't actually need to complete every Easter egg if you complete like 3 or 4 of them you can go to the alter for blue rarity weapons on game start
Honestly is that purple weapon you spawn with is way more useful then spawning in a match in Black ops 3 with a RK5 which is damn near worthless on the higher rounds because the only time are you going to kill something with that gun is if you have a aat on that weapon at least on Cold war every weapon is usable on the higher rounds minus the snipers
@@mychealmcknight7963throwing knife only with some fandoms was some of the most fun I've had in zombies Getting clutch revives for the time and running circle of healing to keep em alive was super fun
Firebase z was the tits lol. I never really cared to do Easter eggs but firebase z was the first one that I did and the boss fight at the end was fun as hell. It'll always hold a little special place in my heart.
Cold War is the best Zombies game, mechanically. I dunno if it's just the circle I run in, but I don't remember hearing any major criticism about how it plays. It really feels like they looked at what people were doing with the mod tools for BO3 customs and took what people loved the most.
It's really not that bad honestly and that's coming from me who's been playing zombies since 2008 but sadly most of the Black ops 3 appears look at this game and think it's way worse honestly Cold war did pretty well just ignore all the negative feedback that you hear from every zombie TH-camr thinking they know everything about game design cuz honestly if you want a fair and balance review of every zombie that has ever came out look up John Rizzo he will give you a much deeper dive about how good most of these zombies are in their own way instead of just randomly thinking of nick pics of why most of thems are so bad
@mychealmcknight7963 Nah, I feel that. I've been around since the original Shi No Numa dropped. I scope them out and if it's not for me, it's not for me. I think the only one I flatout didn't try at all was AW. 🤷♂️
LOL nice joke. It's a braindead easy game for dumbass WZ and MP children. Not a single braincell needed for high rounds or easter eggs, just sit in a corner to pass the rounds and spend 10 minutes to do the easter egg. That's not even mentioning the dogshit loadout system, operators, ugly hud, scorestreaks, armor system, zombie health cap, boring maps etc. Unless you are complete garbage at old-school zombies, CW just simply sucks.
People complained about Armour and Point system. I honestly loved CW's mechanics but i honestly don't like how they brought back the CW point system for BO6 and added MWZ Armour system to it.
I still argue till this day that Cold War is the second best zombies experience behind b03 the gameplay is smooth and the Easter eggs are tricky without a guide and interesting to the story which is made very well making people like or dislike characters in it. Will I say it’s perfect game no but I will say Cold War feels the most complete zombies has felt in a while
It's so nice to see some positive reflection on CW zombies. I think the gameplay loop is so fun and even though I felt forsaken was a bit of a let down, all the maps felt good to me, with Firebase being my favourite! I think the high rounds are deceivingly easy though. I don't think getting a 'high round' is any 'easier' than BO3, it's just less time-consuming. Getting to round 50 on BO3 probably takes a similar time to 100 on CW. I think the way difficulty scales on CW is so much more fun and replayable though. On most BO3 maps I can be pretty set up before round 15, but with CW its at least round 30 by time I have a WW and everything is fully papped. Not to mention the fact that the way the zombies spawn, run and behave in CW is so much more chaotic than BO3, so while you can tank more hits and there is no windmilling, I find myself needing to be more alert to stay alive. In BO3 it was kinda just do figure of 8's while training and hope you don't get windmilled. I dunno, I will glaze CW zombies til the day I die
I enjoy fire base z more than most people, but it still sucks. it’s like shino numa, veruckt, shang ri la,radioactive thing, and forsaken. I like them all, think they are fun but I recognize their faults and why others dislike or outright hate the maps.
As a representative of the firebase z comunity i would like to say that we humbly agree and do believe that fire base deserves more love and cherrishment
I just feel like because it's not Black ops 3 that's why everybody is in their feelings about each zombie mode that comes out but instead of criticizing it just look at it like it own zombie mode instead of comparing each of them because every time they do that they end up disappointing themselves because guess what we're never getting those good times back just appreciate what Good memories of the zombies we have back then because guess what that flame is never coming back
Firebase is my friend groups favorite map. Its not because its the best or most interesting map, but because its the perfect map to shut your brain off and just talk for a few hours. Also as a side note tempest was not a new boss for Mauer. It was added in outbreak which came out before Mauer
in the past couple of weeks ive done all the easter eggs solo and with a group of friends and i appreciate cold war so much more than i did at release.
This Zombies was so slept on. All my friends are diehard BO3 lovers, which is understandable, but they hate on this game waaaaaay too much. I thought this was a good zombies game at it's worst.
It was not slept on it was actually overrated, it’s amazing but nothing like old cod it’s even lacking the same number of maps old cod zombies had, bo4 had 8 maps cw had 4 yet theres not one map on the same quality of a bo4 map.
It’s my favourite zombies and I’ve been playing since bo1, I don’t know why but I just enjoy how easy or difficult you can make it the kill streaks the upgrades it’s all so optional that its perfect to me
The i only real Zombies experience i had was playing Black Ops 1 as a child, so i never got far. I really loved cold war zombies and the armour system. Outbreak also got me really invested in it. The problem with outbreak is that i usually got bored around round 30.
@@captainkush8423the difference is classic cod games handled reused assets better. I only play zombies so it doesn’t affect me the same way, But I can FEEL every map on Cold War besides die machine be a soulless asset dump. Outbreak being the worst offender. I don’t care if they rip everything from the campaign and mp, just make it feel like zombies.
@@captainkush8423 Because its not 2010 anymore, Cod zombies standards have skyrocketed since then, so to go back to reusing campaign maps after we got Bo3 and Bo4 is wild.
@Quad373 to be fair, cold war was made in only 2 years, swapped studios midway thru, and got effected heavily by covid. The fact this game managed to make such a good, innovative zombies mode with all those challenges is admirable. Yea, I agree the maps are really weak, but even on these weak maps you can still have a great time just from how amazing the game play is!! I'm excited to see how bo6 can take cold wars systems and put them on more unique, hand crafted zombies maps
Something i never saw someone talk about is that they made Max Ammo replenish your current magazine too so you don't have to reload every time there's a max ammo (probably because no one really cares about ammo in CW because you can find it anywhere)
OG Zombies players (My Age [25]) be like: - "B - B - BBut, I can't sprinkle zombies with bad weapons to get cheezy points😭" (No more easy/lazy points farming, now you actually have to maximize points through Skill [Headshot Kills] and Risky Plays [Knifing]) - "No more sense of progression since you can spawn in with any weapon you want😭" (Sense of progression in BO3: Spawn, Get to Gobblegum Machine, get perkaholic [In case you didn't get perkaholic: Leave match and start new one]) - "No more 1911 starter pistol that sucks at anything beyond round 1😭" (The 1911 is actually usable now) Bonus: You can actually choose to spawn with the 1911🤣 - "There's no reason to hit the Mystery Box anymore since you can spawn in with any weapon😭" (Reasons: Mistery Box weapons can drop at higher rarity, you can get DLC weapons, Variety, Wonder Weapons) - "Salvage and weapon rarity suck they're non-intuitive😭" (Max Packed weapons shelling out entire magazines just to kill zombies at round 70+) - "Armor Sucks it makes the player too strong and Zombies too easy😭" (Get's cornered in BO3 at round 25+... Leans back in chair [Alternatively pops cheezy Gobblegum])
My opinion on each of these points (I in no way hate Cold War and in fact quite enjoy it, but many of these features could have kept the old system for an even better game) -Old point system simply ‘felt’ better, seeing lots of little +10s next to my point balance is way more satisfying than multiplayer-esque kill pop-ups that clutter the middle of my screen. Maximising the points is still risky because you are losing killing power, leaving you to potentially run out of ammo which will eat into the increased amount of points you get from aiming for the body. -Perkaholic was overused due to liquid divinium glitches and dashboarding, with a limited supply of already rare gobblegums, players would be hesitant to use them in most games. -Starting with the M1911 and other starting pistols are an iconic part of zombies, and rewarded the player for using one of their weapon slots for a terrible weapon until they could Pack-a-Punch it to get amazing weapons like Mustang and Sally or the Boomhilda. -Without the ability to customise the attachments of weapons other than your starting weapon, weapons in the mystery box often have garbage attachments that feel significantly worse than your kitted-out starting weapon. Box weapons also didn’t tend to drop with high enough rarities to be worth using, as it wasn’t difficult to get a purple or gold rarity starting weapon and a wonder weapon before the box starts dropping golds. With everything in the box except wonder weapons being undesirable, it was much better to spend points on trials for a more efficient way to get wonder weapons. Luckily BO6 seems to be fixing the attachment issue on box/wall weapons. -Salvage as a secondary currency was mostly looked down on as you have to open the scoreboard to see it, and all uses of it require the use of a menu instead of feeling like you’re interacting with things in the world like wall-buys or the box. Weapon rarities are a net negative, as although we gained more weapons being viable, there wasn’t a reason to upgrade anything other than your starting weapon, and weapons stopped being powerful on the basis of being a ‘strong gun’ but rather being strong because they’re a different colour. Also once you get to high rounds, AATs always deal infinite damage so with or without the rarity system you would realistically only use your non-wonder weapon on high rounds when your AAT is off cooldown or when your wonder weapon runs out of ammo. -The armour system sucks not because it makes the game too easy (it feels like the same boost as having a zombie shield) but because the zombie shield rewarded the player for map knowledge for part locations, had personality as it often had unique designs across maps, and doubled as a weapon in dire situations with some shields having special attacks to have them double as a kind of wonder-weapon-lite that fulfill a power fantasy and feel rewarding to obtain. Also the “cheesy gobblegum” while cornered has never left, it’s called your field upgrade, but both of those are basically single-use for the near future so if you get caught out consistently by not being good at the game, you’re done for.
@@TomIsQuestionable I hate to have to do this to you but: 1 - "Maximising the points is still risky because you are losing killing power" there's no risk in "Swapping to your water hose gun" to get some free cheezy points, but then again that could just be a Skill Issue 2 - Gobblegums will never make Zombies Immersive as the core philosophy of gobblegums is literally to get a cheezy Out of any respective situation (I really mean respectively) 3 - and that exactly used to be the problem some weapons were great, some were mid but some were outright unusable, with Cold War literally every weapon can at least scale along side Zombies 4.1 - You can apply saved Blueprints on any weapon from the mystery box 4.2 - Expecting Purple or Gold weapons from Mystery Box at early rounds just shows how you just have unreasonable expectations... No Mystery Box should give you any Purple or Gold Weapons in early rounds otherwise there would be no sense of progression 5.1 - I hope you're not saying that Whilst interacting with an Armor Stand 5.2 - "weapons stopped being powerful on the basis of being a 'strong gun' but rather being strong because they’re a different colour" yeah and in older COD that "Colour" just meant a different PAP level camo, it's just that in older COD not even that made some weapons usable 5.3 - "AATs always deal infinite damage so with or without the rarity system you would realistically only use your non-wonder weapon on high rounds when your AAT is off cooldown or when your wonder weapon runs out of ammo" Yeah... and that didn't sound like fun, that sounded like a tedious loop to overcome (Infinitely Scaling) Zombies... oh wait, It was! 6.1 - Shields feel rewarding for sniffing the same 3 sections of the map, "Interacting" with a Crafting Table wow 6.2 - "Also the “cheesy gobblegum” while cornered has never left, it’s called your field upgrade, but both of those are basically single-use for the near future so if you get caught out consistently by not being good at the game, you’re done for" exactly, but notice how casually you breezed past a vital point... EVERYONE can use a Field Upgrade, NOT EVERYONE can use a cheezy Gobblegum if: 1 - They haven't gotten it yet 2 - They just used their last one (Before that match)
@@Average_Internet_User101 Everything I don’t respond to is a statement I don’t have any problems with on your part: 1 - You are sacrificing one of your weapon slots in that case, basically cutting total damage in half. 4.1 - I forgot you could do that, but it is not as robust as BO3 where you have to open your pause menu instead of it being immediately applied to every copy of that gun you obtain. 4.2 - The same principle applies at earlier rounds. You would have enough salvage for a green/blue gun before your starting weapon is weak enough to consider hitting the box. 5.1 - The armour stand is not on my screen at all times to show me a currency that is integral to progression. 5.3 - You said yourself that zombies on high rounds in Cold War are still difficult to kill even with legendary weapons, even with the generous health cap instead of infinite scaling you would likely only use AATs on regular guns to kill zombies unless using the noob-tube with PhD and Ring of Fire. 6.1 - Knowing what three areas of the map to look in is still more rewarding than just ‘collect enough salvage’, you could say the same about knowing the music easter egg of a map which the vast majority of players wouldn’t know, therefore feeling rewarded for having that knowledge. Interacting with the crafting table, armour stand, new Pack-a-Punch and new Wunderfizz feel much worse to use as gameplay is interrupted by a menu instead of everything else being ‘hold X to buy door’ or ‘hold X to buy perk’, especially in such a high-action gamemode like zombies. 6.2 - Unless you are Scrooge McDuck, the “cheesy gobblegum” you would use in a corner is either ‘in plain sight’ or ‘anywhere but here’, both of which are classic gobblegums meaning they are entirely free to the player, and if you run both in your pack you are also guaranteed to get one every two rounds using your three hits per round assuming you aren’t moving between two gum cycles, in which case it’s one guaranteed every three rounds.
@@TomIsQuestionable Ok so to clarify 1 - "You are sacrificing one of your weapon slots in that case, basically cutting total damage in half" this entire statement looses all it's sense of meaning as soon as Zombies scale high enough to survive being shot by weapons, because from that point on "Weapon damage output" literally becomes futile 4.1 - I agree with me too, and furthermore that system is even better than you think, you can have multiple Loadouts of the same weapon save meaning that (When you get any weapon) you can choose from a loadout: - With/Without Supressor - With any of the following: Iron Sights, Red Dot (For weapons with unpreferred Iron Sights) or even Higher Zoomed Scopes (For more accuracy for certain EE steps and long range picks in Outbreak) 4.2 - If it was the other way around there would be no incentive in spawning in with a specific weapon to farm Dark Ether (Camo) for! Bonus: Adds an extra layer of Sense of Progression and Late round investment reward 5.1 - True, but the Score Board can be (Score Board shows salvage) 5.2 - " You said yourself that zombies on high rounds in Cold War are still difficult to kill even with legendary weapons" - No one said that - Lying is one way to concede the Argument 6.1 - That would be true, however Survivability is a core mechanic of the game, and locking a portion of it behind a Fetch quest instead of a Currency and/or intuitive Crafting system is just flawed, furthermore when it relies on having to memorize specific sections of each individual map which some people might consider that a mechanic that's too disconnected from the core gameplay (Literally by the fact that it's usually when players stop killing zombies and go around sniffing for parts) 6.2 - "in which case it’s one guaranteed every three rounds" that's one way to say it's not guaranteed every round... see when it comes to Cheezy survivability party tricks, they shouldn't be an RNG reliant mechanic because (By Definition) RNG Based Survivability is just flawed if not all out Unfair
@@Average_Internet_User101 1 - By the time that non-wonder weapons stop effectively killing without AATs, you would have a near-limitless amount of points (even in Cold War), so saying point guns have no downside at that point is redundant as farming points at that point has become redundant. 5.1 - Just because you’re able to use the scoreboard to view salvage doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be able to also be seen at a glance just like points can. 5.2 - You can’t accuse me of lying when the second-last point in your original comments states “(Max Packed weapons shelling out entire magazines just to kill zombies at round 70+)” 6.1 - A compromise could be made by buying a map-specific zombie shield with salvage, and doing a side easter egg to give it a unique weapon function.
Idc what people say this is where zombies peaked for me. I was there since WAW and loved it. Something I always wanted was open world zombies and the ability to actually bring a load out. Also just to let people know you don't actually need to complete every Easter egg if you complete like 3 or 4 of them you can go to the alter for blue rarity weapons on game start

@@ALph4ZeR00the point system marks it down quite a bit for me
I still argue till this day that Cold War is the second best zombies experience behind b03 the gameplay is smooth and the Easter eggs are tricky without a guide and interesting to the story which is made very well making people like or dislike characters in it.

@Quad373 to be fair, cold war was made in only 2 years, swapped studios midway thru, and got effected heavily by covid. The maps, the personality and in game difficulty really let this zombies mode down.

OG Zombies players (My Age [25]) be like:
- "B - B - BBut, I can't sprinkle zombies with bad weapons to get cheezy points😭" (No more easy/lazy points farming, now you actually have to maximize points through Skill [Headshot Kills] and Risky Plays [Knifing])
- "No more sense of progression since you can spawn in with any weapon you want😭" (Sense of progression in BO3: Spawn, Get to Gobblegum Machine, get perkaholic [In case you didn't get perkaholic: Leave match and start new one])
- "No more 1911 starter pistol that sucks at anything beyond round 1😭" (The 1911 is actually usable now)
Bonus: You can actually choose to spawn with the 1911🤣
- "There's no reason to hit the Mystery Box anymore since you can spawn in with any weapon😭" (Reasons: Mistery Box weapons can drop at higher rarity, you can get DLC weapons, Variety, Wonder Weapons)
- "Salvage and weapon rarity suck they're non-intuitive😭" (Max Packed weapons shelling out entire magazines just to kill zombies at round 70+)
- "Armor Sucks it makes the player too strong and Zombies too easy😭" (Get's cornered in BO3 at round 25+... Leans back in chair [Alternatively pops cheezy Gobblegum])
My opinion on each of these points (I in no way hate Cold War and in fact quite enjoy it, but many of these features could have kept the old system for an even better game)
-Old point system simply ‘felt’ better, seeing lots of little +10s next to my point balance is way more satisfying than multiplayer-esque kill pop-ups that clutter the middle of my screen.
@@TomIsQuestionable I hate to have to do this to you but:
1 - "Maximising the points is still risky because you are losing killing power" there's no risk in "Swapping to your water hose gun" to get some free cheezy points, but then again that could just be a Skill Issue
2 - Gobblegums will never make Zombies Immersive as the core philosophy of gobblegums is literally to get a cheezy Out of any respective situation
(I really mean respectively)
3 - and that exactly used to be the problem some weapons were great, some were mid but some were outright unusable, with Cold War literally every weapon can at least scale along side Zombies
4.1 - You can apply saved Blueprints on any weapon from the mystery box
4.2 - Expecting Purple or Gold weapons from Mystery Box at early rounds just shows how you just have unreasonable expectations... No Mystery Box should give you any Purple or Gold Weapons in early rounds otherwise there would be no sense of progression
5.1 - I hope you're not saying that Whilst interacting with an Armor Stand
5.2 - "weapons stopped being powerful on the basis of being a 'strong gun' but rather being strong because they’re a different colour" yeah and in older COD that "Colour" just meant a different PAP level camo, it's just that in older COD not even that made some weapons usable
5.3 - "AATs always deal infinite damage so with or without the rarity system you would realistically only use your non-wonder weapon on high rounds when your AAT is off cooldown or when your wonder weapon runs out of ammo" Yeah... and that didn't sound like fun, that sounded like a tedious loop to overcome (Infinitely Scaling) Zombies... oh wait, It was!
6.1 - Shields feel rewarding for sniffing the same 3 sections of the map, "Interacting" with a Crafting Table wow
6.2 - "Also the “cheesy gobblegum” while cornered has never left, it’s called your field upgrade, but both of those are basically single-use for the near future so if you get caught out consistently by not being good at the game, you’re done for" exactly, but notice how casually you breezed past a vital point... EVERYONE can use a Field Upgrade, NOT EVERYONE can use a cheezy Gobblegum if:
1 - They haven't gotten it yet
2 - They just used their last one (Before that match)
@@Average_Internet_User101 Everything I don’t respond to is a statement I don’t have any problems with on your part:
1 - You are sacrificing one of your weapon slots in that case, basically cutting total damage in half.
@@TomIsQuestionable Ok so to clarify
1 - "You are sacrificing one of your weapon slots in that case, basically cutting total damage in half" this entire statement looses all it's sense of meaning as soon as Zombies scale high enough to survive being shot by weapons, because from that point on "Weapon damage output" literally becomes futile
4.1 - I agree with me too, and furthermore that system is even better than you think, you can have multiple Loadouts of the same weapon save meaning that (When you get any weapon) you can choose from a loadout:
- With/Without Supressor
- With any of the following: Iron Sights, Red Dot (For weapons with unpreferred Iron Sights) or even Higher Zoomed Scopes (For more accuracy for certain EE steps and long range picks in Outbreak)
4.2 - If it was the other way around there would be no incentive in spawning in with a specific weapon to farm Dark Ether (Camo) for!
Bonus: Adds an extra layer of Sense of Progression and Late round investment reward
5.1 - True, but the Score Board can be (Score Board shows salvage)
5.2 - " You said yourself that zombies on high rounds in Cold War are still difficult to kill even with legendary weapons"
- No one said that
- Lying is one way to concede the Argument
6.1 - That would be true, however Survivability is a core mechanic of the game, and locking a portion of it behind a Fetch quest instead of a Currency and/or intuitive Crafting system is just flawed, furthermore when it relies on having to memorize specific sections of each individual map which some people might consider that a mechanic that's too disconnected from the core gameplay (Literally by the fact that it's usually when players stop killing zombies and go around sniffing for parts)
6.2 - "in which case it’s one guaranteed every three rounds" that's one way to say it's not guaranteed every round... see when it comes to Cheezy survivability party tricks, they shouldn't be an RNG reliant mechanic because (By Definition) RNG Based Survivability is just flawed if not all out Unfair
@@Average_Internet_User101
1 - By the time that non-wonder weapons stop effectively killing without AATs, you would have a near-limitless amount of points (even in Cold War), so saying point guns have no downside at that point is redundant as farming points at that point has become redundant.
5.1 - Just because you’re able to use the scoreboard to view salvage doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be able to also be seen at a glance just like points can.
5.2 - You can’t accuse me of lying when the second-last point in your original comments states “(Max Packed weapons shelling out entire magazines just to kill zombies at round 70+)”
6.1 - A compromise could be made by buying a map-specific zombie shield with salvage, and doing a side easter egg to give it a unique weapon function.
Idc what people say this is where zombies peaked for me. I was there since WAW and loved it. Something I always wanted was open world zombies and the ability to actually bring a load out. Never made sense to bring that pitiful 1911 when you know your going to a battle lol. Upgrading perks and weapons it is pure undead slaying bliss for me
