Plant the mums in the ground and just water regularly. They may never perk up this year, but cut them down as winter hits and next spring they should come back beautiful! I did this last year and mine are healthy this year. Good rescue! Love the finds!

Frugal Mommy what they say about sticking rose stems in potatoes and getting roots out of them is true! My auntie does that too! It takes several days though before you can actually see roots! I also love roses so when I saw you taking them all actually made me happy! God bless and hugs!

A diy...Dry the Rose petals and glue them with organic glue on glass. For example on a candle glass. In the holiday season a nice idea to do with kids. It gives you a bit of summercolours in the winter. Love from Amsterdam, the Netherlands

    Honey dew melon.
Make potpourri with the rose petals.
The rooting a rose in a potato isn't cracked up to what is told of it. The water/starch in the potato causes rose to rot. Get a rooting hormone powder use only the stem, cut it and dip in powder and right into the soil. Keep soil damp.

And flowers that's great ! the rose cuttings often grow roots in water , if they have a fresh cut and then cut a couple of nodes or Thorns off so they have multiple places to get roots and treat him like an indoor plant , minimal or indirect light. Then plant in pot or outside.

  • @329crys

The yellow melon looks to be what is called a canary melon. I would give the mums time I believe they will come around, maybe a tiny bit of plant food as well. I have found several item marked with a 36 on it in the dumpster, I do believe some employees will mark it for a return and to be discarded because it can not be sold again after leaving the store. Then again some employees do not mark the items. I cannot say enough I think you both are simply amazing at what you do, and thank you for taking us along with you on your adventures ❤️😊💯

Amy with any really dried out plant l submerge whole plant in a bucket of water.
You will hear air bubbles come from the soil which is good.
Leave soak for a good half hour to absorb water, then plant out in garden( fill hole with water, let drain then plant ).Cut back a little if required.
I love my garden and always do this to revive plants.9 times out of 10 it works.Good Luck.🍀

Nice haul! I think cut back the mums just a little, look at the roots and replant if they are white. On the roses, I would probably make potpourri. The potatoes don’t work. If you want, you need to put in water the bottoms to root for a couple of months and then plant in soil.

You probably already know about this, but trim the bottoms of flowers before putting in water with a little bit of crushed aspirin. Makes it easier for the flowers to draw up the liquid. Should perk 'em right up. Give the mums a few more days. You may need to cut them back, let the roots recover.

Great rose haul . Fresh flowers really spruce up a home . Lots of food too . I have rooted roses by cutting off a piece , sticking it in the ground and placing a mason jar over it . Next spring it should sprout a bush. Not sure if it will wirk with store bought roses. Worth a try . The potato method works too. Keep the videos coming. I love your cooking ones . 👍👍👍💖💖💖

Mums come up every year. The roots are still good. So, if they don’t flower this time, the roots will take for next year, so plant them where u would like mums next year. Water well so they take. Water again after 2 days, then after 3 again.

It’s true, if u r already there, it’s wise to open the bags a little just to make sure. I’m glad frugal daddy checked anyway. I have seen other divers always check to make sure and they have found items. Sometimes it’s obvious it’s trash, sometimes it’s not.

Wow!! The Dumpster Diving Dynamic Duo is BACK!!! I'm so impressed with the focused intensity.of Frugal Daddy at the Aldi dumpster. And with Frugal Mommy being able to handle everything he threw at her, even when he missed (ahem, cilantro), still providing us with a verbal blow by blow. Now back at home, saving those poor mums (who else would be so kind?) with a long tall cool drink of water. Then displaying all the spoils for us to see up close and personal. So thoughtful! America! They are back!!! 💓💛💚💙💜🌹

This is one I think I missed. Love your video's. I can't bash the stores. Aldi s doesn't want to be known as the store that sells day old stuff ,(you know everyone does not think the way we do) If we bash them they lock up the containers and people that rely on the extra help get nothing. I think if they wanted they would have locked them a long time ago. We can look at it as everyone wins here. People that shop get what they want and divers get what they need and we cannot forget the donation to the homeless. I see your video's as heartwarming. You keep what you need and you donate the rest. Thanks for sharing.

I'm a new subscriber. I've been binge watching all your videos. You two are awesome and I love your humor and easy going personality. I'm a born and raised Jersey girl who is now helping support her 2 grandchildren. Many times I have had to pass up on nutritional foods because of financial difficulties. It's sad all this fresh produce is tossed when so many people need food. I get so annoyed when stores ask at the checkout if I can donate $$$ to help local food banks, etc. I've bought produce or breads fresh from store shelf only to get it home and find mold on it! Also, years ago when I was employed by a large chain grocery store we were told to unwrap chunks of molded cheese, cut the mold, re-wrap and re-label. These are the large chunk cheeses you find in cases near the deli that sells for a good price per pound!

great haul as usual. if i ws to have the mums...i would cut off every flower bud cuz they will be all dried up & a waste of the plants energy anyway . let the plant send water to the leaves & stems as a last ditch effort to save itself...then leave it in the shade for a few days keepng it watered...if it perks up-plant them in the ground in late october -tops will die but hopefully they are perennials and sending out good root growth til ground freezes ....check the root ball after a few days..- dont give up- i let a cone flower dry up accidentally -totally black crumbly leaves-i only saved it bcuz of seed pods-i cut off every stem/leaf but i watered it periodically and now there aree 6 new leaves at the base-Yay!

Dumpster row ! You got a great haul from Aldi.
From what I saw put the stem into a potato and put it in the ground. Put a glass jar over it. It will take 4-6 weeks to show new growth. Said potato gives all the nutrients the rose needs to thrive. Hope it helps. Good luck. My dad used to garden a lot, and I watched him do all kinds of things, including grafting on trees. I know to start a new lilac bush you just pull down a branch with blooms on it into the ground and it should start.

I’d buy a bet with a long handle for cantaloupe and other items. If ur going to get ur food this way, u need the proper tools always in the car. Preparation saves lots of money.

Hey Amy.....you Fairy Flower Godmother is here. LOL. Seriously. The Mum's will die back and fall away on their own. Then just place them in a cool dry place over the winter out of frost, snow and any weather. They should come back out right about when your first spring flowers bloom and begin regenerating at this point. By summer plant in your ground and always be sure to water well and keep covered in the winter. They'll be back every year.
When your roses die back cut a cross in the bottom of a stem trimmed 3 inches FEOM them bottom. Place in a glass/vase of water with a root forcing product, relatively cheap at Lowe's and home depot. Once roots appear begin the potting process working your plant into the ground. You will never but another rose bush again!!!!!
AND JUST LIKE THAT PROBLEM SOLVED.....FAIRY DUST AND ALL!!!!
