What a beautiful ship. Along with all of her sister ships in the fleet.

If you look up the current location of the ship Queen Victoria, sadly, it is not near New York City. Maybe this was posted 3 hours ago.. Actually the date on the video states 2023-1-20

When I was in the Coast Guard stationed in LA harbor on Terminal Island in 1980, they parked the Queen Elizabeth (Edit: Queen Mary) in Long Beach. So naturally I had to go check it out when it opened. OMG, I had been on a lot of vessels but that ship was really impressive. You could wander all over from the bridge to the engine room. It was vast and the long hallways reminded me of that Stephen King movie with Jack Nicholson saying, "Here's Johnny!" Creepy. But there were multiple bars and restaurants. I can only imagine what the Queen Vic must look like in 2023.

I stayed a night on the Queen Mary when they had it as a hotel. Not sure you can still do this. In those days the ship was moored next to the spruce goose, which has since departed. They had to disassemble it to ship it out. The cab driver told me they used to have water taxis to and from Long Beach, but no more. ;(.

@@chrishintz1077 Was it the Queen Mary or Elizabeth in Long Beach? I'm 72 so I'm starting to forget some details.

@@johnallen6945 Queen Mary. ;). The city of Long Beach invested in it, then I think Disney took over for a time. They were going to build what eventually became Disney seas in Tokyo ;(. But they sold it back to the city. You’re right about those looong hallways ;).
Working near or on Terminal Island must have been interesting. And now ports of call is being redeveloped. The more things change…

Queen Mary was an amazing ship to tour. The only thing I didn't like was when we went the rooms were used as hotel rooms so we didn't get to see them

@@roxmattern60 they were quite small, as expected in a cruise ship. I’m sure they had grand suites but I certainly didn’t get one. ;). The shower had both a sea /salt water tap and regular treated water. Very Art Deco, like the rest of the ship.
