    Using your own words, arguably, the bounced/reflected shots looks the most pleasing in this particular case. The lighting is more even across the entire area with just enough highlights on the model to make her stand out. This is a very good reason why one should test out different lighting (assuming you have the opportunity) before the actual shoot. Great job showing us how to do this and as always you are one of the top educators on Adorama, and I love your style. :)

    Nicely done with the reflector posing as an octobox. Never thought of that before.

    Great video, yes bouncing a Speed Light its a great way to light a photo! For sure when starting out get a Speed Light, Hand Held Reflector and a Stand it will open up so many possibilities especially when one can't afford an assistant. Thanks ADORAMA for showcasing a Photographer like Vanessa Joy in your channel to guide us through all the great Gear available in your Store!

    Great tip Vanessa! If handholding is too difficult, people can always bring a tripod. A bit more gear but requires less muscle while shooting 😆

    First of all (said very matter-of-factly) there's never anything wrong with plaid. So props to that. Secondly, great video about how to replicate off camera flash with on camera flash. Thanks for the tips!

    Great video (as always!). Thanks for posting. When using TTL, does if matter if I use spot, center weighted, or full frame metering? Do you happen to remember which metering method you used for these shots?

    What do you recommend for white balance to be? Especially when mixing ambient and flash light? Cause i find it difficult to set the WB after i'm used to set it up with only natural light🙏🏼

    Yeah indeed Vanessa, I think you create more depth perspective with the reflector, since the light from the flash falls off faster. Thank you for this session , just a idea richer.

    • @VanessaJoy
      @VanessaJoy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely true, though ultimately that’s hard to control if I want to be further away from her

    • @marcvloeberghs881
      @marcvloeberghs881 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VanessaJoy Indeed Vanessa to have the hoped for effect, the flash has to demark he model from the surroundings and seeing the power of the flash light and the subsequent fast fall off, you have to be close enough of your model.

    Are those pictures edited or are they straight out of the camera

    • @VanessaJoy
      @VanessaJoy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can I be honest? I don’t remember. If hey were edited I was in lightroom and very slightly. I’m pretty sure they’re all sooc since you saw the exposure fluctuation when I went close up

      As a second shooter for weddings in the UK since 2018, I shoot and let the 1st shooter edit. I don't get paid and get frustrated when I see all these TH-cam channels with heavily edited pics.
      I've spent more time since lockdown to learn how to edit in lightroom.
      I want to take the game to the next level so I watch your channel attentively.
