I looked up Noh mask urban legends, and I found a story about Noh masks that attach to people's faces and rot them away, and then drag around the body with them and attach themselves and the body to more people, so that eventually it'd have a pile of rotted bodies behind it. If this game is alluding to that story, perhaps once it kills a few people the mask will speed up and get more threatening.

If I remember correctly, lots of horror games ( mostly japanese ) use Noh masks as a horror factor. I even think ( could be wrong though ) that there are some good horror movies involving those masks. I personally think they look quite cool. The Hannya version especially ^^ Popular tattoo too!
But if an inn isn't even marked on any maps, how do they get business? It sounds strange to me, to have a life so private, your business isn't on a map. Mind boggling ._.;;
