    Thanks Mary. I made one for my daughter about three years ago and did this similar. I loved it. She loved it. Thank you again.

    Great tutorial, as always, Mary! I was wondering if you would consider doing a video explaining, in detail, your process of how you charge for cakes, everything you take into consideration, how you keep track of your time, etc.

    Please, I have 2 questions, 1. What is the ratio between the size of the fondant and the Tylose Power added?
    2. What is the ratio of Everclear assed to a 0.10 oz (3g) Gold Luster Dust❤ ?
    Thank you very much for this presentation, (This is my very 1st time using Fondant or Gum-paste).

      I can't really say ratio with the tylose because I go by feel. Maybe 1 tsp per half a pound?

    • @sophisticakesbymary
      @sophisticakesbymary  ปีที่แล้ว

      Same goes for the everclear. It needs to be thin enough to paint without clumping up but not so thin that it is not good coverage. It also changes as you work with it and the alcohol evaporates. You have to add more as you go. Sorry this is not an exact answer!

    Hello 👋 thank you for this! I used fondant and tylose left it 24 hours then painted. My question is why did my horn go soft after I painted it??!
    I did use lemon essence not extract I didn’t have any extract or vodka.

      @sophisticakesbymary  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmmm hard to say for sure. But maybe you needed more tylose? For decorations like horns, I tend to stick with gum paste instead of mixing tylose to fondant. For this very reason. If it was refrigerated with the horn on it, it can get soft after taking it out of the fridge.

    Great Video! Thank you for sharing. How far ahead can you make the horns? Can they been made a week or two in advance and stored in a sealed container until placement on a cake?

    • @sophisticakesbymary
      @sophisticakesbymary  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry I just now saw your question:( It is probably too late, but you can make them weeks ahead. Just store in a cool dry place out of the sun;)

    Thank you for posting such a helpful video and including links for supplies. How far in advance could the horns/ears/eyelashes be made? Would a 1-2 weeks if stored in a sealed container work?

    • @sophisticakesbymary
      @sophisticakesbymary  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely! I have fondant decorations from my kids bday cakes from 10 years ago, so 2 weeks is fine. Just make sure they are in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight.

    How long should I leave the fondant if I am not using the tylose powder?

    I made a unicorn horn for a cake and my first attempt looked like an object that you secretly buy gone very wrong! Let's not even go there. It was soo wrong. But I got it right finally. And the eyelashes were a struggle for me! I was like "even cake fake eyelashes is a struggle?" You make it look so easy. I secretly hate you.
