Dude I listen to this album almost daily. I can't get enough of it.

I first saw Testament after The New Order, a fan ever since.
Their last 3 albums, IMO, are their best. The addition of, without question, one of the most talented, most skilled, most accomplished, and most creative and tasteful, rhythm sections in the history of rock and metal, makes Testament a can't miss band, live or on albums. I was excited like a 14 year old, holding my first guitar, when I heard one of my favorite bassists and one of my favorite drummers had joined one I've my favorite bands. The addition of Dirk Verbeuren into Megadeth (I've been a huge Soilwork fan since 2002), has me anticipating a new Megadeth album in the way I was after Rust in Peace. Dirk is, again, IMO, the most complete, most skilled, and definitely most creative drummers in the world.
I agree, this Testament album doesn't reach the top shelf quality of the last two albums, but how many albums do? I do think I like this album a little more than you.
The great albums released in the past 4 to 5 years, by bands with histories that reach back to the 1980's, is so fucking phenomenally pleasing.

Love this album! Great review. You says "Lets talk about the riffs" and then skip over the riffs and Eric Peterson (who writes 95% of the riffs) and talk about Skolnick and his solos (which are obviously amazing). Skolnick is my favorite guitarist, but Peterson is severely underrated.

Testament in my opinion is the best Thrash Metal band ever. I love every album they have done including The Ritual and Demonic. Titans Of Creation in my opinion is the best Testament studio album since Alex Skolnick has returned to the band. It is a MASTERPIECE!!!! I got the Japanese import version because it came with a bonus live show from the Brotherhood Of The Snake tour. Testament is a supergroup because every member is a MASTER at their instrument. Testament in my opinion is very underated still. In my eyes they should be headlining arenas all around the world.

I think three stars is too low, but to me that is a Testament(Pun Intended) to how awesome and diverse the albums have been since Skolnik came back/Chuck's recovery from cancer. Each one is a bit different. BOTS was pure Thrash, DROTE was pretty melodic, I can't quite put my finger on what was different about FOD, but that one did have Paul Bostaph and I enjoyed his performance on that more than anything he did for Slayer(not that his stuff with Slayer isn't good). This new one kinda feels like a bit of a show off record with trying some new things here and there(Don't recall anything like Night of the Witch before on a previous record.). In conclusion I think everyone would rank their last four records differently and I think that's beautiful.

the album is a straight banger, very classic sounding yet blends their newer 4 albums in as well. the only downside is, like he said, the lyrical content is quite juvenile at times. Some of the songs have a little too much cheese to them like Ishtar's Gate, and False Prophet. But when they are on, they are ON. Night of the Witch, WWIII, and Children of the Next Level are brutal. on par with Brotherhood, but I think Brotherhood had more interesting riffs and progressions (but it also had more cheesy songs too)

My big issue with this album and the last one is the album length. Way too long and mid-paced and could do with a whole lot of trimming. Dark Roots of Earth excelled in how consistent it was, with a great balance between thrashers and mid-paced songs, while still being memorable. I still feel that's the best album of the post-Skolnick reunion era.

I agree, Brotherhood of the snake is just that good that anything else would be B list in comparation. Titans of creation was very good however, since their return testament surprises me every 4 years with a masterfull album and even if it wasn't the best of the four albums of their new era, it is still superior to a lot of other works (even good ones) from the year.

Agree....it's a very same same safe album. How can an all star band release an album that's not more dynamic? Spot on...tempo was set and then they pressed record. Not a bad album....but left me wanting more.

This album was disappointing for me, I think it should have just been an EP with Night of the Witch, Dream Deciever, City of Angels, and Children of the Next Level on it. That would have been a perfect EP instead of what I consider to be a mediocre album. Testament has been my favorite band for the last 5 years or so by the way

Love Testament and obviously their current rhythm section is world class, but I miss the unique bounce that their classic tracks had. That connection and feel that the original lineup had is tough to duplicate. I feel similarly about Death Angel.
