To hand chisel a joint, of any sort, and have it fit perfectly is almost impossible. Accurate jointing machines are the only way to fit wood together, without wavy lines and gaps.

I dont get why you would do all that work, and then not sand away the scratches. Other than that very interesting and beautiful joint.
