Roddick was so good. His talent deserves more than one slam. Unfortunately he finds himself among a long list of players who were denied greatness because of the big 3.
@@verticom56 After 2004, his shoulder was busted till the point where if he continue with those flat forehand rockets, he'd cut his career short by a good 3 years. He talked about this on his podcast.
true. but especially federer. he has a dominant H2H over djokovic if my memory is correct. Federer was always just slightly too good. But roddick did beat Federer 2-3 times, 2 i think.
He, and other like him, including Nalbandian, Murray and Djokovic are defensive due to their large L5 grip setups. These players are colloquially known as "pushers".

Those who didn't see this era, I want to tell you that there was this service giant who had one of the most complete games in that era.. I think he is by far the best compared to other big servers... like berrettini, Raonic, Isner, kyrgios Karlovic... the guy wasn't even so tall but still reached serves like 140 MPH, retired with one slam in his belt and many finals who he lost to federer and a positive H2H against the likes of Novak...
holy crap i've never seen this match before, but this might be the best that roddick ever played. the absolute maximum of his game - hitting 150mph serves in AND attacking with his forehand. even hit a few backhand winners. bizarre.
The Roddick thing was just his service and that was it. They made him play a full game and he couldn't win and that was in his early years when he was just starting out, but later he was defeated by Nadal and Djokovic himself. Andy Roddick could never defeat Federer.
a man just beat a god. sounds like hercules and zeus to me. But tbh, you shouldn't speak mere mortal, if it isn't anything respectful to say, because you couldn't come close to either of their achievements

Roddick's FH was amazing when he hit out on it. Never understood why he became such a defensive player
nobody understood

maybe the legs got tired as the years went on? He DOES put a lot of hip thrust into his FH's... which requires a lot of leg drive from the ground up.

155mph Roddick fastest serve if I remember correctly..
@@Kidgloves1984 You are right. And fastest serve in US Open History. He served 152mph twice in 2004 R1 against Jenkins & R2 against Nadal.
Yes, he blasted a upcoming Rafa off the court that year at the us open..the 155mph serve was in a Davis Cup match I recall that same year.

My two favorites, watching them play each other in their physical primes was always a treat cause they both looked so fancy with their opposing styles
andy roddick serve is un believable
Never cut the handshake at the end of the match. True tennis fans know this is a very meaningful moment of any match.
shades of 2003 Roddick forehand here.
Only a few ones but yeah
and crazy consistent serve speeds, like USO 2004
High Quality Win!
Great match from Nadal, he deserved to win (tons os winners). Andy relied mainly on his serve in this match
It was like old(2003-2005) version of Firepower Roddick
Andy played superb tennis 👏🏆
Rodick siempre le tuvo de hijo al buen rafita😂😂
Wasnt Roddick a finalist in Wimbledon that year?

Fun Fact: Roddick quit in 2012 because he knew (and admitted) that Federer/Nadal/Djokovic tennis was on a level that he couldn't compete at.
There is no comparison... Roddick is a man, nadal is god😊
