I’m in the crowd somewhere, my one and only tennis match.
Nalbandian was so good at changing the direction of the ball, which probably troubled Federer in their earlier meetings.
Gonzo’s backhand was so bad. Ad side of court is defense, deuce side is offense. Talk about opposites.
Fed's racquet head speed was faster on the 90 than with the 97 on the forehand. But his backhand was better with the 97. The 90 flies through the air faster than the 97.

I wonder if the big 3 could beat pete at his peak which was 96
Melzer was in the zone the whole match! 😮
2008 was the beginning of the end for Federer, despite reaching all GS finals the following year. He won 2008 US Open against his favourite victim, limited Roddick, lost against Nadal on a fast court, got lucky Soderling did the unthinkable, got lucky Roddick had a huge dump in his pants and lost to limited DelPo, because he didn't want to accept the opponent outhit him with the forehand, constantly targeting DelPo's forehand, well he found out. The first major tactical fail despite being the better player until 5th set. Note: at the time of that loss he had recently turned 28, but the great Grandpa narrative for delusional fans had just been started. Nadal and Djokovic (mainly them but others, too) by then had found a way to dismantle his excellent serve, even on his beloved fast courts like AO and Wimbledon. he was not used to fight hard for every service game for a whole match. Sure he was able to win longer exchanges, too. But not that constantly as the other 2. In reverse, his own return game was not good enough, even though we're talking about Nadal and Djokovic, both slightly above average servers. Though since 8-10 years Djokovic has become one of the best servers in the game.
andy roddick should never wear cap
my left ear aaaahhhhh
in what moment the atp and tournament organizers saw this and thought... "Yeah, I think we are gonna make all courts slow. It's better for tennis". And then they thought: "Oh, matches are getting too long and physical. Let's make everything Bo3 and add match tie breaks." And that's how now every player has the same boring ass "modern tennis" baseliner style and we've made sport boring AF with the exception of Alcaraz and a couple others who actually go to the net and do different stuff.
i love suzuki's vibes!!
Bring back carpet season 😭😭😭
Is this slightly sped up?
Always liked watching Blake play, always 120% effort, hitting full force, he had bad luck having to play against 2 greatest players in tennis history... in their prime
5:51 I can’t be the only one to think that ball was in..?
The DelPotro serve was huge..
would love to see 1996 Sampras vs 2006 Federer on a grass court. Every set would end in a tie break
Agassi was definitely afraid of Sampras. He had this eternal complex. That is why he couldn’t play his game especially in latest meetings. He mentally lost. Plus of course Pete was a much better player (serve, forehand, backhand, volley, everything). Look at the game with Federer very same season on grass, how the latter illuminated Sampras where he was almost unbeatable through decades…
I don't think he was. I think Pete was just better. I do think, however, that AA was afraid of Courier, which is why he lost to him 6 straight times (including TWELVE of 13 sets), even though AA was clearly the better player.
God Roddick was so bad in this match
12:13 😂
Melzer is super super underrated. He was top class, and consistent for many” years especislly in ATP250s. Idk why there are no highlights videos of him. It’s like he’s forgotten.
By the French Open that year, Rafa's serve motion changed. He no longer used his knees to kick the serve.
Poor tennis balls...
rodik sucks lol
How fed lost to a one hit wonder, then loses to djokovic with a lead as well is torture. Hes the best ive seen, but i cannot say that anymore
Rodick siempre le tuvo de hijo al buen rafita😂😂
Magnifique ❤
Sharpey was cool that day
Kohlschreiber sempre complicava
Insane to me how bad Nadals strokes get esp[ecially the backhand when indoors hit
I don't think people realize how big a loss this was for Federer context wise. A win would have resulted in 6 straight USO titles and more importantly Roger would have held all 4 majors at once assuming he won the 2010 AO. (09 FO, 09 WM, 09 USO, 10 AO etc...)
Wow what a match, what quality
Never cut the handshake at the end of the match. True tennis fans know this is a very meaningful moment of any match.
Honestly Agassi was my fave player back in the day now it’s Nole, when Agassi played his last game against somme guy Becker not the famous Boris Becker Somme other guy I cried honestly was fun to watch him play
Delpo, Gonzalez, Massú, Kuerten. The best of South America.
Nalbandian
Agassi still won 40% of the time against Pete. This is 1 of those cases. Awesome Tennis!
Great match from Tsonga!
Gonzalez tiene historial a favor vs Del Potro
exacto
That running forehand...
Great match from Del Potro!
13:35 HAHAHAHAHAH. What a kid, still the same now.
Honestly, no one could do much against such level that Fed displayed here
I think Andre was waiting for Pete to cool off in later sets but it never happened. Pete was on fire.
Weaknesses: forehand. Assholes 😂
Look at the old Mercedes model lovely to watch 😊
Life was easy for Federer before Nadal-Djokovic era!
18:40 4 aces in a row Marat 😮😮
I think that if Hewitt had the firepower he would have had more majors under his belt. He had all the shots, the movement, the mental toughness and the focus already in the bag.
El feña en ese tiempo ya estaba limitado físicamente con su rodilla pero aun así daba pelea buen primer set...
