In salesforce there are 2 types of user : 1) login using login.salesforce.com these are the user who actually use salesforce 2) community user these are the user who access salesforce from the community what do i mean by that is these user have seprate ui which is of community and they can interact from Community with salesforce ( for an example you can login to amazon website but there is possibility that amazon might be using something else as a backend for example salesforce. Now the amazon agents using salesforce as their backend and they can have some amount of record access, but what if i want to alter the acccess for the people who are logged in to amazon front end page that we see?) This is where external user comes into picture here we are acting as external user to amazon website and to specify the access we can do it using external access
In one of the interviews, I had got a question what is the difference between public read access given at OWD level and view all access given at the profile level? Can you please tell?
Owd is more of performing record level access now what do i mean by that is if lets say if u have owd as public read only on account then in that case people below you as per role hierarchy will be only able to see the record and not edit specifically talkin owd is more of whether u can see the record or not. Profile defines what you can do with that object whether u can delete or not etc So owd is more of whether u can see the record of that object and profile is more of what kind of operations can you do on that object. Now coming to your questions publiv read access given from owd means people below u as per role hierarchy will be only able to view your recordd And profile level view all means no matterr u are very low at role hierarchy still you can almost see every one data even of ceo's irrespective of the role hierarchy thus making u a super user
Can you please explain why we use OwD external Access??
We normally use internal access..
