Watching Kristy sketch made me realize that graceful lines come from graceful movements of the hand and arm. Sounds obvious, but gives me a new focus in developing my skills. Like a ballerina, I need to train my hand and mind with the goal of increasing grace.
What something you can always count on with Kristy Rice. You can always count on being encouraged being built up being loved and not judged and having a lot of fun. You can also count on her watercolour lessons, not only being fun, but always having a little something extra and you’ll always learn something along the way that doesn’t always have to do with painting, but the heart ❤️
Kristy, the way you teach watercolor is LIBERATING! As a woman who has struggled for years with being a perfectionist, your way of teaching with encouragement and fun is relaxing and so enjoyable, plus I'm just plain learning a lot. Thank you so very much.🌻
Kristi, I LOVE this video. My favorite is the second fashion one with pencil after painting. It looks like this belongs in a high class book or magazine. 🩷 I love the colors in the second one. It’s beautiful. I do like a touch of my fluorescents. Thanks for showing us so many fun ideas. Watercolor is my favorite medium of all time.🌸🌸🌸
My most favorite element of your paintings is _THE WIERD_ !! 😍 You have this knack for making it all flow and work together so well! Thank you for breaking down your process for us!! 🙏☺️ I'm going to give it a go and see how I do.
Kristy, your tutorials kick start my morning practice!! They are 5 star! ***** Content format interesting, fun and informative. Your joyful warmth and professional experience flows like the paint. Love it. Super glad I found you on youtube! Some days I get just a little discouraged in art journey, but after coffee, a tutorial or 2 from you and VOILA, 2 1/2 hours of sunshine, smiles and painting joy encourages me... Sincere thanks
Loved the first one, but the second one knocked my socks off. I've been playing with this style, but I've been holding back, thinking too much. Thank you for the inspiration and pep talk! 🥰🥰
I always like to put some weird on my art, neon colors, or a bit of "out of place" magenta yassssssss, loved this ❤ PS: i actually almost cried with the "beautifulness" of that flower, wow!!!!!
I love the second style. I just love that look. I just can't get the hang of doing it myself..... maybe it's practice... maybe it's focusing on the process rather than the finished product... maybe it's something you can't really learn, it's just intuitive..... IDK..... it sure is pretty. Thank you.
Beautiful ❤ I was given one of your books as a present about a year ago… I retired yesterday so I’m planning on having more time to use it and to paint along with your inspirational videos too ❤️
GIRL!!! - you so crazy! Lovin’ this! 12:14 made me go - Yes! (🤪) Then, I thought I was not gonna grove on “Floral Fashion Sketch”. That’s until you got to the end. I like your style! You are definitely rockin’ it! I just smashed that subscribe button. KUDOS ❣
I ended up liking both. I loved the hellebore then when you brought out the orange I had a whole range of thoughts and emotions 😂 which to me means it’s good art! I believe art should make you feel things even battle with yourself between feelings, it keeps eyes on the piece longer. So overall LOVE ❤️
I like the first one best. Before the florescent pink. I have a hard time being lose on anything. The word that was used about my art, “cartoony”, still resonates with everything I do. It’s probably accurate, yet I still try. I had to laugh, when you said pick flowers. Today is day 19 or 20 above 110°. Today is supposed to be 117°. Nothing grows here.
Sooo happy to watch another one of your inspirational videos. I must say that the captions in the beginning of the video were a bit distracting for me. Then again, that could be just me bc I grew up watching all my movies with subtitles, so I’m conditioned to read the captions 😅. Thank you for the heartwarming reminder to do it for the enjoyment of the process 🫶🏻💕
Thanks for watching! Captions are only for the first 30 seconds so people can get a sense of the video subject without fully clicking through into the video :)
I have a challenge for you :) Could you please show us how to paint an Asphodel? I've searched and searched and cannot find a single tutorial but it's such a beautiful and symbolic flower although it looks tricky to paint. Thank you in advance
I love both, and I so really love this entire video! I have a question. I love to sketch roses...not when they are looking all perfect, but when the petals are just starting to fall. Think of a prom queen after a night of naughtiness. My question and dilemma: How can I loosely and/or abstractly sketch those stamens and pistils? I've googled enough to know not to sketch every single one, but I end up doing it anyway because I don't know how else to do it, and then my rose sketch looks stupid. Nice loose petals, then a big graphite smeared blob center where I've erased, and drawn, and erased and drawn harder, rinse and repeat. If you could link a video or sketch to help me (I've been struggling a while now on this), I would be so grateful!!
Kristy I absolutely love both of these paintings. I assure you I will be trying both of them. By the way I received you brushes and paints last week and I am truly loving them. So glad I finally ordered them. Love your style and thank you!
I love the watercolor palettes you painted over the black ones. I am looking to do the same thing with my black palettes. What kind of paint should I use? I love all of yours the blue, pink and purple. also love this video
I just found your channel and have been binging 😮 I have read through more than a few comments but didn't see anyone talking about the palette you're using in the first flower. What is it? I love the colors 😊
Kristy bought my first academy watercolor paper on a block. It came with a black plastic tool to remove the page after you paint. The black rubbed off onto my paper when I removed the purple cover page. Should I just get like a metal letter opener? I think it’s gonna tear it up if I do that. I don’t really know what to do because it came with the Academy paper and it’s it’s gonna rub off on every page when I remove it from the block not really sure what to do.
This was great. Thank you. Can I just ask that we don't use the term Creative OCD. I don't want to start a whole woke conversation, but I personally don't like something I struggle with people downplayed as fussy

The weird is wonderful…watercolour serendipitous splendour
LOVE the smiley face in the center of the flower!

I love watercolour and pencil! This is my style and I don't feel the need to rub out pencil marks! I also love ink and watercolour! ❤❤❤

Thank you for breaking down your process for us!! 🙏☺️ I'm going to give it a go and see how I do.
Let us all know how it goes!!
I like the unexpected color! I've been doing landscapes faithfully for 6 months and now I want a change to flower painting for a while
Love the neon orange gouache!
Intriguing. It looks like I can almost create my own flower as I go. Like that idea
You definitely can!

Kristy, I ❤your style of teaching!!! So freeing!
Thank you!
Love the way you include some shock colours, thank you Kristy.
Glad you like it!
I liked the second one without the pencil ✏️.
I love the soft shades of color in this painting. Love watching your videos @paintingwithkristyrice. 💜 🎨 🖌️
This is beautiful Kristy! I love it! ❤
Loved the first one, but the second one knocked my socks off. I've been playing with this style, but I've been holding back, thinking too much. Thank you for the inspiration and pep talk! 🥰🥰
No more thinking! LOL
Actually, Kristy, you haven't done a style yet that I DON'T like! You da bomb!
Shadow and set
Ail!

We are weirdos together! Thanks for hanging out here for a bit!
I love to add details
Wow! Just wow! I love the wierd
I love this an painting along with you❤

Thank you.
It’s some of all of it, but mostly it’s repetition with a decreasing fear of screwing things up :)
Using the live flowers is a great idea!
Thank you, Kristy! Create and embrace the weird. Love it.
💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
Kristy, love your style.
Oh thank you!
I like to add shadows and details.
#Boop lol 😆 very cool 😎 I am loving this video !!!
So glad!!!

Love What you do, love the colors. ❤ greetings from Amsterdam Holland.
Thank you!! I will be back in Amsterdam in March!
love the continuous idea.. it really makes me loose... which is what i need.

Love that, "I had a whole range of...emotions"! lol!
Love your colors! I watch your videos over and over. Picking out new ideas or techniques.
Awesome! Thank you!
You are right Kristy!
I always add details and hum I use them also to hide cauliflower effects or other mistakes 🙃
Best hack ever!
Oh Kristy I loved my sketch- and then … I made a muddy mess! But I guess that’s part of the journey too!
Indeed it is!!

I also have some artistic PTSD from folks calling my work cartoony over the years!
How do you get past it? I just fade out while making more to hide.
I needed these today. Thank you Kristy
So glad!
Love both paintings!
Will you try either?

Love both of them, but my favorite is the second one. This is the type I want to do, so thanks for this guidance.
You are so welcome!
Beautiful! I love you techniques and how you explain what you're doing!!! ❤❤❤
So glad!
Very beautiful my dear friend and artist
I really love the weird
Good
Brilliant mix of greens. Love your style!❤️🦋
Thanks so much 😊
I'm about adding the shadow and the details. Thanks for all your tips x
I like the details.
Thanks!
I loved the 1st. I wonder what it would look like to do a neon pink? Or a metallic color. 👍
Good question!
I really love the second one. So fresh, Thanks for sharing.
You are so welcome!
NOT too weird for me. The weirder the better!
I adore your art so much ❤
I love these both. Gorgeous!!!
Thank you! 😊
I have a challenge for you :) Could you please show us how to paint an Asphodel? I've searched and searched and cannot find a single tutorial but it's such a beautiful and symbolic flower although it looks tricky to paint. Thank you in advance
You made my day.
Oh I’m glad!!!
Love both of these! ❤
I’m loving these techniques & colours. Thank you sooo much xxxxx

Love the colors
Love these techniques!!

Beautiful!!! I love them both!
Thank you! 😊
Just found your channel and love it so much! Thank you
So glad!
Thanks for the weird. Weird makes life fun.
I love the watercolor palettes you painted over the black ones. I am looking to do the same thing with my black palettes. What kind of paint should I use? I love all of yours the blue, pink and purple. also love this video
When you are sketching a flower with many thin petals, like a sunflower) do you draw each petal? I feel braver every time I watch one of your videos.
No I get the basic, stronger shaped petals in and then just fill in with petals that feel right :)
@@KristyRice thank you
I just found your channel and have been binging 😮 I have read through more than a few comments but didn't see anyone talking about the palette you're using in the first flower.
What is it? I love the colors 😊
It my own palette I developed! kristyrice.com/products/making-art-for-joys-sake-watercolor-palette/
I love them both. My style leans to the weird side. Does Paul Reubens opera peach count as a florescent? It's definitely bright 😎
I would think so!!
Kristy bought my first academy watercolor paper on a block. It came with a black plastic tool to remove the page after you paint. Can’t wait for the Indiana Peony Festival May 18th! Wanna go!? ❤
Don’t tempt me!
Hello hello. Boop boop!!
Hello there! Thanks thanks!
❤
Add shadow
This was great. Thank you.
Can I just ask that we don't use the term Creative OCD.
I don't want to start a whole woke conversation, but I personally don't like something I struggle with people downplayed as fussy
I only felt comfortable using it since I too am. But I won’t use that phrase again :)
@@KristyRiceThis exchange makes me so happy. A respectful request, a respectful reply. People like you two make the world a kinder place.
This is kinda weird but you bear a heavy resemblance to my highschool biology teacher
I’m okay with that lol!!
Are there painting groups in my area. I need friends
Details
The first style is great minus the heinous high-vis orange.
It.. Just... Destroyed the piece.
Orange is my favorite color, but I wish I could fine you.
Nothing is ever destroyed in art. But I do love a good use of the word heinous👍🏻
C4yt
I really liked the first one - until the weird. Not a fan.
OCD detail person...
