Like your reviews starting a cologne collection might need ur insight
Hi - Interesting video. I enjoyed listening to your history and how you have arrived here. Could you please provide a link for the other channel you mention near the end that you do one video a week for. Thank you :-)
Smelling Great Fragrance Reviews
Oh man it would be great if you created your own Fragrance 🙏
Sebastian, Your Journey is very interesting. Do have a chance to visit us in Oman? We look forward to welcome you
It's interesting how your culture, the fragrances your parents used to wear, the spices your mom used for cooking, and life experiences helped you build up a deep passion for perfumery. I enjoyed listening to your story.👍
You are our favourite reviewer and person in the fragrance world. Blessings to you and your family.
Thank you! :)
Indeed he highly qualified for this. For me is the best reviewer
And his voice is so soothing
"how did you end up with so many perfumes?"
"i started watching SMFR youtube channel"
What a great story. I can feel your passion. I’ve gotten into this fragrance rabbit hole only a few months ago. But once you’re in, you go deeper and deeper. I’m 3 years older than you. It’s never too late for new passions. I skipped the designers, though, and went straight to niche. 🤩 Btw, I’m Italian/German and I’ve been to about 50 countries. I’m now on my scent journey …
I relate to the drakkar.... My grandfather still wears it today and has since it came out and now all the men in my family wear it to family functions as a nod to him
My favorite reviewer that is for sure. Your Phoenician and Armenian roots gave you these abilities in communication and commerce. It's in your DNA.😊👍🏽
I respect that you don’t do reviews on samples, I raise the hat 🎩
What a treat!...... 50 minutes of just you. You rock my world.🦁
Your content is always such a worthwhile watch. The breadth of knowledge you share about fragrances is worth an ear for every fraghead taking on their own fragrance journey. Your guests are funny, articulate and so knowledgeable (shout out to Dana, Dhalia and Ashley...love those ladies!).
You have a great youtube voice, too that's not obnoxious nor stiff. I look forward to watching more of your videos. My taste in fragrances has certainly expanded from just watching your vast collection and recommendations...ya got me all spendy, too. But to each our own joy, and fragrances make me happy, feel creative and expressive. You've been such a wonderful influence. Thanks for all you do.
It's always interesting to learn about what got others into this hobby we all share , time to enjoy this 🙏
It’s always a pleasure watching your reviews but this review took me back to my childhood. My parents wore pretty much the same fragrances your parents did. My fathers favorite was Caron. Growing up in our backyard we also had a big garden.Every Armenian family had to have a lemon and fig tree. In the 80s my grandmother worked at May Company and she would bring me fragrances all the time the fist fragrance I remember was Drakkar. That started my love for fragrances.About four years ago I discovered TH-cam reviewers which your channel was one of them. Thanks to you and other reviewers I discovered the niche world of fragrances. Keep up the great work my friend. 🇦🇲
100% my favorite reviewer. Bought Explosive by Etiene and Histoire D'oer recently because of you too :)
My mama was Greek and took me many times to Greek Orghodox church. Man did I love that smell of frankincence and whatever else they put in those censers. Also my mother’s incredible baklava with loads of cinnamon and cloves and butter. Also she used to make broccoli rabe and mustardgreens, swiss chard and other VERY uncommon greens back in the 70’s! Sadly she died in 1980 but I remember, like you, when kiwis and arugula and other greens like that came out in supermarkets in the USA.. This was a great video- can’t believeI missed it a year ago.
How interesting to listen to your fragrance journey! I can still smell my parents’ fragrances in my mind. Amazing how the memories of certain fragrances stay with you for decades
Outstanding video! Fragrances are all about the memories they evoke from our childhood to early adulthood and on. You hit it out of the park with describing everything from your parents passion and every decade to present, while listing genres and certain fragrances. The 90s brought back some memories for me. Well done and truly inspiring.
Agree. I always wonder why nobody into niche fragrances seems to remember and highly rate 'Ve Versace'. It was a really unusual banana & champagne combination. Almost impossible to describe and there's certainly no modern dupe I can think of. I think it ought to be brought back. Or at least celebrated in blogs and videos :)
This was a great video. I really enjoyed learning about your journey. You do an extraordinary job making us all fall in love with fragrances without having even tried them. I've added to my collection based on your reviews. This truly has become one of my favorite channels. Keep the delightful videos coming! Thank you for all you do.
I'm in! I got another hour to spare as I work from home. Tee hee.
Aww Sebastian! Loved hearing your story. Thanks for sharing. Interesting life you’ve had. That was surprising that the perfume company who got bad review came after you 😟 wish I knew which it was! How ridic.
More videos with Dana! She’s awesome, as well as your other guests- both of them.
💟
Please tell me which brand was.I really want to know badly.I mean it.
@@ambrerusse4219 i guess... the name start with C
This was by far, the most engaging 50 minute video, I have seen; in years. Thank you!
It is one of the videos that I enjoy the most, especially because you open your soul
You're so genuine, open and calming. I love it
Omg. I'm watching now...have to be to work 7p tonight. Will watch again tomorrow, without disruptions. Thank you everyone for requesting this video. I was too shy to ask...because I wanted to know more about the most intimate parts. I love learning about a person's heritage and culture through simple intimate conversation......Just adds an extra something about you....though we never met. Thank you so much...
Loved this video, thanks so much for sharing! I also LOOOOVE Figji because my mama wore it in my childhood, I just scored a new 118ml bottle of it, vintage, and it smells perfect! Preserved in pristine condition, I'm so happy! And yes they do still make it and sell it! So classy and beautiful! Timeless classic like Chanel no 5, only yummier!
It was great to get some insight on your history with fragrances. I've purchased a lot of fragrances because of your reviews. Looking forward to more great content.
Love the video and watched the WHOLE video 🤗
It seems like I was watching a movie of my favorite hero 😍
Thank you for sharing your story. Keep up the good work..
Sebastian, hearing you tell your story was like hearing my life replay, a lot of your scent memories from Lebanon, spices, parents perfume etc resonated so strong with me. I don't have a channel but I have your passion for scents. My mother used to wear a scent called ramage, a popular scent long ago in the Middle East. It's discontinued but I was fortunate to get my hands on a bottle. Smells like churches and incense. Beautiful to me. Appreciate your reviews.😀
Thanks for being open with us. That was an interesting story. I enjoy scents for the memories, aside from the smell of them of course.
‘How did I get here’ is what I think after a long night out
😂🤣😅
😂😂😂😂
😂 no longer for me. Getting old you know 😭
I so love Angel. To hear you talking so affectionately about Angel melts my heart. I had a blast wearing it for years, in a cloud of it all the time, like a safe place. The sillage. My dirty clothes smelled delightful. Buying again…now. 💙💙🦋🦋
Hey, I lived in Greece for 3 years to, go on my friend, I feel much closer to your stories now. World have so much to offer, if I can just afford to see it all.....man. Thanks again.
Great video! Re: Rosendo Mateu, not only did he do work for CH and Paco Rabanne but he was the nose for Agua Brava, Sybaris, and Quorum! Absolute legend of Catalan and Spanish perfumery.
Glad you followed your heart. We are all blessed with your gift. Merry Christmas from "The Center of the Universe".
Thank you very much! :)
*Im really glad you made this video, i've always wondered these things about you. It's so nice to hear the reason why someone got into perfumery!* :)
You mentioned Kmart and it brought back memories of Mr. Bubble powder in the cardboard box. Drakkar Noir was also my first fragrance and I still wear it from time to time
Thank you for sharing this with us - I love learning how and why we love what we love. Just endlessly fascinating.
I hate video reviews from samples as well lol. Love love your vids, so inspiring because I’m start my own fragrance channel soon ❤️
My journey into fragrances, how I got hooked and subscribed to the channel (formerly; looking good, smelling great), and how I have come to be so knowledgeable about fragrances. Thanks to Mr. Sebastian........
Ruthallthingsbeauty was here 🙃
It was very educational to me because I plan on doing TH-cam video reviews I’m in shock about your experience about a review affecting your channel for me is different I consider that not always a full bottle is needed to do a review of course that is my opinion bit saying that’s anything wrong with it I wish I could get a full bottle for review of “everything “but I purchase my fragrances anyway thanks for being so so so helpful with your videos and your knowledge and thanks for sharing something more personal ... I met you at scentxplore and I love your videos with Dana
Not sure how I missed this. Now I know why you love Star Anise now.Great channel brother.
I would love a perfume tour that would take a select group to France or elsewhere to visit perfume houses and indie brands... Next best would be for you to outline exactly where to go in different countries to look for great perfumes and how to go to conventions related to perfumery.
Awesome video idea! I love long videos, btw. So excited to watch this. Love ya, Sebastian. I've become a huge fan, faster than a speeding bullet. 🖤
I was hanging onto your every word while watching this video! So many memories are in my head with every scent you mention. Thank you for sharing your vivid story.
Yaay, I love Armenian traditional culture :D
Macedonian/American subscriber here, I understood every single word and description you gave 😁. Being born myself in Greek Orthodox family and being raised at the Balkans, all your descriptions of the old churches, the spices and food smells reminded me to Macedonia and Greece and my childhood. I Remember my mother’s favorite perfumes from the 80’s and 90’s, she always smelled like YSL Opium or Shalimar Guerlain and I remember my grandfathers signature smell was Italian cologne Pino Silvestre. After finishing my bachelors, I moved to USA 🇺🇸 and I’m not in touch with my culture and roots that much, except spending summers in Macedonia and Greece, but your description of your childhood was on point and wonderful time machine, returning me back to the days of late 80’s and early 90’s. I love your reviews, keep up the good job Sebastian 👏. Greetings from Oklahoma City.
I'm not from the same part of the world but I really appreciate you telling us your story. My interest in incense scents also comes from Christian churches. Thanks for your great and honest reviews and looking forward to more.
The original A*Men is quite simply the greatest fragrance ever made!
I just bought Angel for my mom, because it is one of the only perfumes she responded strongly positively to that I’ve ever seen. Now I’m teaching her how to spray it on enough that she can smell it throughout the day,
Sebastian, this is such an interesting life and story - love it! We’re the same age and I think my earliest scent obsessions were Gee your hair smells terrific! lemon pledge! Coffee, Italian meatballs in sauce, fresh basil, and pigniolata coated in honey, vanilla infused pastries. Juicy fruit gum. love baby soft for me, joy on my aunt, carnations and roses in the house, fig tree in the yard. I can see how my early preferences translate to my current fragrances. I went to a perfumerie in France when I was 20, learned notes. Life changing!
I been watching the channel for a while and am now a new subscriber. I throughly enjoyed your story and sharing your memories. For me so much of the pleasure of fragrance is all about being in touch with those parts of our life that is constantly growing and changing. I love your way of making fragrance approachable. 🍋🤗🍅😘
Thank you for sharing your journey. It was a was very interesting to watch
I’ve been watching a ton of your videos. They’re all starting to mix. I think you said that you don’t review clones. If a clone company had an original scent, would you review their original scents? I bought a discovery set form Oakcha. Most of the scents are dupes, but they do have some original scents.
Thanks for your videos. You talk about every scent, not just the popular ones. As someone who is new to this hobby, three months in, it’s nice to hear someone love inexpensive fragrances. My stepdad loves scents. You have mentioned Bentley for Men more than once. That’s going to be his Father’s Day gift.
Keep up the awesome videos.
It was nice to learn more about you. Keep up the great work, I really enjoy your content.
We have the same background Sebastian...from Mardin but I was born in Alexandria... also a perfume addict esp of the vintages. My Mom's and my Auntie's perfumes paved the way for my obsession. I feel we're related. We all went to French Christian school taught by an order of French nuns.
OH yes it always comes from parents wearing heavy perfumes.
I really want to know which designer came after you 😂
I'm guessing Calvin Klien.
Same question.
Me neither so badly.I really want to know.I mean it.
When he started talking about that stuff my blood ran cold. Whoever it was clearly did a number on this poor guy. Anyhow, I guess it’s probably better to be positive.
First of all I thank you because your open heart man. Secondly I thank you because you’ve opened Chanel Boy for me recently.
Thank you so much for this video! Thank you for addressing the request. What a guerny it was! Watching you was quite a time travel for me... all those scents and perfum mentioned... such a nostalgia. Those 80's and 90's are surely unforgettable. So many bottles of perfums so many memories... it's been a great pleasure hearing your story. Makes me sorry I found your channel just a few months ago.
Keep with the great gob you're doing. Greetings from Israel💜
We are from the same era ... me a little earlier, when you spoke of the Insense in the church - YOU HAD ME! I grew up and it is hard to describe but there is a strong bond between Christianity and the incense smoke in the air, just listening to you is taking me back.... 💞
That's scary to think that these big companies can just deplatform you and erase all your content. Cheers to perseverance and fortitude to get through those bad times!
I don’t know how I barely came across this video, but I’m glad I did. This is by far my favorite YT video that you’ve released both past and present.
Thanks for sharing this Sebastian. Love your channel!
Thank you very much! :)
This has been so enjoyable, Sebastian. Thanks for sharing your journey. Your parents showered you with an amazing wealth of experiences that were fail-proof to lead you to where you are right now, from the places they travelled to the plants they grew. Perhaps in the next round, you could share about how you came across some of your bubbly personalities who are guests on your videos. Please also do a review of the French house Isabey someday, unless you've been underwhelmed by them. I'm very intrigued by their Tendre Nuit and would love your opinion on it. Thank you. Love your channel. 💜💜
What a great story! Thanks for sharing.
Greetings from Egypt 🇪🇬
I binge watch your videos even though I'm a woman who isn't very keen on masculine fragrances. I find your content very interesting and your guests are good fun.
I just loved hearing about your fragrance journey. ❤
My collection isn't extensive (it may not even qualify as a collection), nor is it nichey or particularly expensive. Fragrances have been an important part of my life since adolescence and I enjoy watching and listening to your videos. They are always informative and worthwhile.
I wasn't worried when you said at the beginning that this would be a long one, but I didn't anticipate wanting so much for it to be even longer. You are such an engaging speaker and I loved listening to your story.
Fascinating video Sebastian
Really really interesting
Thanks for sharing
Just subscribed and really enjoy. I was born in 1969 and the seventies and eighties were my favorite. I started out with pier Cardin , Drakkar Noir, Paul Sebastian. . Drakkar was freaking awesome. Enjoyed this video. Look forward to seeing more. Cliff from Georgia.
Such a beautiful, rich and heartfelt history!! Thank you so much for that
We are Proud of Sebastian. Best regards from Lebanon ❤❤
Wanted to see what You used in 80's and 90's to see if we used the same perfum. I am using Minotaure since it released and bought a couple online from a couple of days. I also use Jazz for YSL but not as strong as before but it seems You didn't try it. I also used for a short time l'eau D'Issey and Versace Jeans. I also used to love the Armani in 80's as Versace pour L'homme.
Lovely video and thank You for your time :)
I left off a lot of fragrances and YSL Jazz and YSL Kouros are others that I used as well. Even as a young kid the civette in Kouros didn't bother me. LOL! Regarding Minotaure there's a new fragrance that's coming out or should be out very very soon created by the same perfumer of Minotaure and should smell very close to the original incarnation of the scent. I'm not mentioning what it is but will mention in my video as soon as I have it! :)
Awesome story. I resonate very much with your story, being Armenian and born in the middle east, travelling and I was always mesmerized with different scents and fragrances. Great video my friend.
Hello hello!! :)
Great video...I discovered Molliinard on your recommendation a review on that house would be great!
Is affirming to hear you talk about your experiences with having your nose. When people are passionate about what they are gifted with, it is wonderful to hear about.
Wow, I love your story, I'm only 9 years younger than you and I can identify to a lots of your memories. My step mom wore "Rive gauche" (and she was born in Lebanon), my father wore" Pour un homme", and I my olfactive memories are definitely rocked by farmers markets (in Italy), herbs and scent of church (marble mixed with incense, wood, and candle wax... In the 90's my brother wore A Men (I would steal a free spray) and I wore l'eau d'Issey in junior High. Then I completely rejected perfumes, until I discovered niche perfumes, I realized that what I hated what the generic synthetic notes that a lots of brands would use. When I discovered Jovoy (the store), Armani privé and others I realized the endless quest that perfume love involves.
God I love this story. You are getting me into fragrance
I was watching your review of Drakkar Noir Intense, and there you mentioned about spraying some of your dad’s perfumes as a kid. That was so interesting to me that I searched for a video about your perfume journey and found this one.
Really, really good! This has so much history and culture. And I like the like format very much.
Congratulations!
Oh wow!
Thank you for sharing Sebastian! I loved it! Very evocative video ❤
I appreciate your style and charisma your street forwardness with regards to notes and how you like the smells of the perfumes I have purchased some of your recommendations thank you for this video it brings me closer to who you are as a person and I really appreciate your work.
Love the story of your journey. Takes a lot to talk about your journey, is not just about scents it’s about life. Respect to the fullest my friend. Best scent channel, real, humble, and a story to tell.
🙏🏼
I remember a little bit of the ol channel, glad you are doing well, also bring back the old intros! Lol
Thanks Sebastian 👍🇺🇸🎩🎶✨
Do you remember which brand came after Sebastian?
I loved you talking about the scents your parents were wearing. Fiji is still available by the way. I remember smelling my Mom's clothing if she was not there...Lebanese food is so wonderfully fragrant.Thank you. Beautiful video explaining our love for scents and aromas across our lifespan.
You are my favorite perfume expert ! 😀
I am glad you mentioned gender divide in fragrances in US. Since 90s I always have a bottle of Eau Sauvage edt even though I am a woman. It is the greatest energizing and mood improving scent other then a fresh lemon.Thank you for educating us.Hope you will feel better.
AWESOME. Always love hearing things like this. Thank you for stopping by! :)
I really enjoyed learning about you and your fragrance awakening. Thank you for all of your great content.
Sebastian you are the best, love your videos. Keep doing what you’re doing I’ve learned a lot from you about fragrances. You’re the man.
I appreciate that!
The lemon fragrances video popped up on my feed and I loved it and saved it for future reference. Then this shows up as a suggestion and now I’m subscribed to you 🙂 loved your story 🇦🇲🇺🇸
What a beautiful journey into fragrances. Thanks for sharing!
I grew up during the war in Lebanon. Those were some dark times. Our family would come here back n forth. I could relate to so much you said.
Great insight on your journey. You have taken us into a great trip. Keep up the great reviews.
Great video, just found it today :). What a treat, thanks so much Sebastian! I recalled the smell of the spices in the grand bazaar in Istanbul immediately when I saw the photo. As a Portuguese, I share your love for the Mediterranean food and smells.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fragrance father! Hahaha, hey from Morocco! A fellow brother-in-Christ (from Canada). Love your channel, Sebastian, keep it up!
Fragrance fanatic and introduced to many new perfumes and websites from your site. Even considering becoming a retailer and opening a unique retail store or online store here. I'd love to chat with you about that, to work together in some way or pass on my ideas for you to consider for your own team.
Thanks! This only tells us that scents is what we grow up with. What we experienced, what comforting and what brings us back home. The fragrance I choose is mostly based on what reminds me of a happy place.
This is an AWESOME video !!! Such a wonderful glimpse into your life . That fresh cut grass scent I loved it do you remember the GAP had a bottle called grass that was the bomb for 15 dollars you couldn't beat it . you are a great reviewer your knowledge of the notes just naturally roll out without hesitation . Be safe , Dave at 53.
Thanks so much for sharing Sebastian! Really interesting and great to learn more about u. U really have made something unique and special with ur channel. Wish u all the best and happy holidays! Thanks.
- Colin
Props to you you didn’t have to do this video but I’m glad you did I enjoyed it as with all your videos I always come back from your videos knowing that I will always learn more each time you are the best resource in TH-cam and your passion shines throughout your videos and all aspects of your life. Keep em coming
Hi Sebastien, I really appreciate the quality of your reviews. It is always with elegance and information with value added. You are the first source of information that I check before any purchase decision. And I also see that you do not follow any other reviewers that are trying to politically correct with new trend brands.
Thank you again !
Man such a shame what modern regulations have done to perfum and art. IFRA is a travesty
Rogue Perfumery is the IFRA work-around.
Don't do what people want you to do. If you don't like something say you don't like it. That was cool of you to tell your story. Most people wouldn't have admitted that they got into fragrances from smelling cleaning products. I bet the managers of those stores are like hey here comes that kid again 😂. No but seriously if you don't like a fragrance say you don't like it, forget what people say. Great Story I really enjoyed it.
