I’m a Brit living in Canada and last year I went to my Canadian partners house for Christmas dinner. No roast potatoes, no stuffing, no pigs in blankets. The holy trinity completely missing from the table. I still haven’t fully recovered and I never plan on spending Christmas in Canada ever again. Love your videos, agree wholeheartedly with your ratings ❤️
I was in charge of the sprouts for my uni Xmas dinner last week. fried them instead of having them boiled for the first time ever, absolutely changed the game! Always thought they had potential but never truly appreciated them until now
What a wonderful video. Easily video of the week. Gammon is the silent hero of that list, Yorkshire Puddings are wonderful, roast potatoes yum. Good point about the Turkey , it’s traditional more than anything. This was a real comfort video tonight.
I think you could have done with tubes as a 3rd taster to pull the roast potato average up a bit as im I'm sure he would have voted high, thereby bringing a little more sanity into the marks. Ranking a parsnip higher over the roast potatoe is sheer madness. 🙈
Yeah that was my impression from the thumbnail for some reason. I think it's the style of the collar and it's white contrast to the pattern of the shirt is similar to those same shaped white collars on those type of dresses. If I studied fashion I might've used better descriptors there.
I cannot believe Robbie missed an open goal when Alfie said he wouldn't know a good sausage if it slapped him in the face! That was an Aguerooooo-esque opportunity!
Yep, Alfie knew he'd gifted him one there, but Robbie was like Di Canio when he caught the cross as he didn't want to score whilst an opponent was injured.
"Pigs in blankets is a dish served in the United Kingdom and Ireland consisting of small sausages (usually chipolatas) wrapped in bacon. The first recipes appeared in 1957, and the dish was popularized in the 1990s by Delia Smith, who included a recipe in a cook book"
I totally agree with Robbie when it comes to Brussel Sprouts! They are an elite food and along side stuffing are my favourite part of a Christmas dinner!
As an Englishman that lived in New York for five years, I can tell you that they do indeed have pigs in blankets. It isn't the same though. Their's is essentially a sausage roll with the ends of the sausage sticking out. Also, I have fond memories of pigs in blankets as a child in the UK as far back as the 80's. Perhaps it's a northern thing?
@@RobbieKnox Team potato of course. Alfie's 2 main points for parsnip preference were "they're sweet" and "they have texture like a potato". Then he has the audacity to knock potato down a point for "just being a vessel for gravy". Gravy was his highest rated item!
Great video chaps, the only thing I would have added on here is bread sauce. Only have it at Christmas but I've no idea why as it's my favourite part of the meal. Not a massive fan of gravy but I'd be distraught if it were missing! I'm with you on roasties Alfie. Although I do love picking the burnt bits off the tray but parsnips are better. We have dauphinoise roast and mashed potato on CHRISTMAS day. Dauphinoise is the best potato.
Need to try it again - haven't had it in decades. Dauphinoise is a very showy potato. I like it but I don't want it anywhere near my Xmas dinner plate Jodie.
@@RobbieKnox haha you're right there it is showy indeed, for us we just see our Christmas dinner as the ultimate roast so we have everyone's favourite elements of a Sunday roast. We do have turkey but we have a roast ham and a joint of beef too. Almost too many options!
So you might want to be sitting down for this comment but im one of those people who isn't really a fan of gravy the only gravy I like is KFC gravy but i also don't like cranberry or bread sauce so yes most of the time I have my christmas dinner or any roast for that matter dry...... I do however like mint sauce and have it on Lamb. Something else thats going to upset you is I prefer mash to roast potatoes I didn't used to like roast potatoes at all but in recent years they've slowly grown on me but they still haven't managed to fully convert me from mash yet
I can't really argue with the rankings.. Except stuffing being in the relegation zone which is an absolute farce! Europa Conference League at the very least for me!
Just filming an apology follow up video due to my views on roast potatoes

That’s disgusting Anna and I’m sorry you had to go through that.
My condolences
I hope your adoption to a new family was a success and this Christmas you are truly loved!
Im praying for you after this traumatic event 🙏

😂
Every roast needs a gravy, but not every gravy needs a roast. Just something to think about.
So deep Josh.
Round Sheep
‘The people who make my Christmas dinners’ sounds like Alfie’s got little borrowers scurrying round for all his Christmas needs 😂
Off work with the flu and binging robbie knox christmas content. lovely stuff
Sorry you’re ill but glad to help your illness.

Yeah, I do think if people experimented with them a bit more they’d be more popular. Great veg.
Stuffing , yorkshires and roast potatoes are essential for all roasts
A 27 minute Robbie video - let's goooooo!
Bulky.
The sprout hat was an epic touch Mr Knox. Another classic video!!
Always like when it makes an appearance.
I wish I had a friend like Robbie knox, seems like a top man
I’m decent I think.

Huge claim Ryan.
I can’t help but think Robbie is wearing an Art of Football collared flowery dress
Blouse and miniskirt.

The gruesome twosome, the dynamic duo, two handsome lads in football shirts is exactly what I needed 🙌

I’ve never ever had cranberry sauce. Growing up and to this day we always have Turkey for Christmas dinner with… *takes cover* …Apple Sauce 🍏
Love the concept of the video, and roast potatoes are the deal breaker for all of my Christmas dinners 👌
love roasting my potato's and veg with rosemary and garlic!
I absolutely love the legendary sprout hat
Elite isn't it Oscar?

No mention of bread sauce? I love it! Think I’m the only one in my family who likes it though!
My mum makes maple glazed gammon for Christmas, I reckon you’d love it!
Robbie, I need to see a tutorial video of those roast potatoes, kids will be crying on Christmas day otherwise.

Roast tatties are the most essential part of a Christmas dinner..
The way Alexa responded with such confidence 😂😂😂
Appreciate Alfie couldn't have it but it's got to be sausage meat stuffing. That would push it right up the rankings
Yeah, I wanted to make in inclusive. Sometimes I’ll do both meat and veggie versions.
I really think Alfie looks at you as the dad he never had x
He definitely has a dad. I’ve met him.
That rishi sunak line was golden😂😂😂
i’m loving the hair, robbie. looking like an AC milan legend
In our house we always have gammon on Boxing Day and its usually the better meal if I’m honest
That's a good plan. Do both.
Just the video I needed today! :D
Gravy doesn't carry a meal? Shocking! An average Christmas meal can absolutely be made by drowning it in banging gravy, in my opinion.
I love the still image of the meat eater with turkey on his fork and the vegetarian sat there with nothing 😂😭

I can’t believe how low stuffing is ranked. Ruined my holidays
Yeah, I was surprised by that to be fair. But it’s science.
Same, I addore stuffing
completely agreed with each rating 😂sat back n enjoyed, what a vid Mr Knox🤝🏼
Thanks Goon you legend.

Alfie is bang on the money with his views on roasties, parsnips are absolutely miles clear
I agree 👍🏻
Yes Robbie !
Never had goose but would’ve been nice to see goose added. There’s bread sauce too
Love a bitta baroque era harpsichord over a xmas vid 😂
I would also be fuming with no sprouts on my xmas dinner. Best ever veg
It's unreal Stephanie. Doesn't deserve the hate.
This parsnip potato war has soured the entire judging and competition for me and I shall not be attending next year. Thank you.

Team parsnip for me, they have their own unique flavour compared to a plain potato that needs gravy to make it taste better.
Couldn’t agree more on the potato front. Used to be a big player but is finished nowadays.
Needs to regroup and come back.
Brutal rating on stuffing. Doing one of my favourites really dirty there fellas!
Where's the bread sauce at Robbie?!
Should add roasting ur spuds carrots and parsnips (if you must) with garlic rosemary and salt and pepper make them immense.

The fact there's no roasted pumping, carrots or kumera (sweet potato) is criminal.

I’m so on your side Bob.
Yorkshire puddings are arguably one of the best parts of a roast, so why not have it on your Christmas Dinner? Stuff tradition!
harsh on stuffing
It has been hard done by.
Top quality content, the foreskins duo that brings more to the table than they’re appreciated for…
Now do Christmas condiments
Are there any apart from cranberry sauce?
I think gravy is the most important

You probably know this already but brine your Turkey for 24 hours before you roast it and it’ll be way better!
Interesting. To be honest I tend to just get a turkey crown as there aren't many to feed. Should I brine that too?
@@RobbieKnox yeah I don’t see why not! It’s a great way of getting extra flavour into the meat as you can put herbs and spices into the brine.
