      @@randyparton5451 thanks for the idea! We could...but it would be a very short video because there's only so much that people can do here legally for income. You need to either work online (any type of work is fine) OR start your own business and hire locals. Real Estate and property management is fine to do here too.

    Great video! We are from West Kelowna and stayed in Malpais back in January for 2 weeks. Didn't really like Santa Teresa this time around as it seemed way too busy. We did take surfing lessons in Playa Hermosa and loved it. Rented a couple quads one day and went from our air b&b to Montezuma. All in all great trip but not really an affordable place to retire anymore as real-estate has gone through the roof.

    • @TheDufresnes
      @TheDufresnes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes real estate continues to rise but Santa Teresa is definitely more expensive then our area here in Samara and surrounding areas.

    KOOK'S is an awesome place to eat at! Greg is an awesome host also. He always stops to talk to you and ask how the food was, etc. Our CR neighbors spent many a night here, last year during covid and Greg shared alot of new dishes with them. We have eaten there many times and there happy hour, 2 for 1 drinks, are a great value.
    The area is awesome to visit, but I would not want to live there, because it is way to busy for us. Having a house north of Cobano, it is a 20 minute trip to Santa Theresa and that is a perfect distance for us.

      @@TheDufresnes The municipality has been doing alot of road construction on the Nicoya Penninsula in the last few years. The major roads are almost all paved now, except for a few km's between Santa Theresa and Cobano. When we first started coming here, it was only paved to Cobano from Tambor. ( It was twice the distance back then, because you had to go around all the potholes.) About 4 years ago we bumped into the Ex-Costa Rican President at one of the hotels we play horseshoes at in Tambor. Within months, the roads started to get worked on and have been improved ever since that day. It is nice to see our taxes are being used to improve the area. The government has seen the potential of this area for expat living and tourism. This last year is the busiest I have ever seen the area. It is slower the further North you go from Santa Theresa, but land sales have been strong further out, so home construction will be busy for years to come.
      You guys should come back next year and experience the rodeo in Cobano, it is a real Gong Show, but very entertaining! Well worth the trip back to video it! Thanks for your great videos.

    the thing about Samara is that you only have one beach to enjoy.

    • @TheDufresnes
      @TheDufresnes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need more then one? Playa Samara is very long and isn't broken up like Carmen, Santa teresa, cocal and Hermosa. Here Playa Carrillo is 10 minutes away, it's actually longer to drive from Carmen to Hermosa. So not sure what you mean by your comment? Also Playa buena vista is 5 minutes from the north side of Samara and Playa izquierda in between there

In the 90s I was in Sámara running a campground (not with Nicho but at the same time down by Bar Lagarto, which l doubt still exists.) I love Sámara!! ❤️ Such a gorgeous and safe beach! With that adorable island!! 😍 But l ended up buying property near Santa Teresa in 1997. 💚 It's been so much fun!!! 😊 I LOVE Costa Rica!! 💜

    Just visited, and after having been all over the world and visiting much of Costa Rica it is by far my least favorite place i have ever visited for a variety of reasons. The vibe is not chill but rather chaotic and frankly stressful. It can be summed up in one simple sentence. If you don't surf look elsewhere. Montezuma down the road is much better in my opinion.
