The zmt (zona marítimo terrestre) are the 200 meters from the beach so anything you buy within the 200 mts will be concession from the government, I think it is different from each province, if I am not wrong some areas in the central pacific you can actually own it so it will be tittle. I am in the south Caribbean side of the country and the law here is so different cause they are so many national parks, natural reserves and indigenous lands so I made sure the property I got was tittle outside the zmt but still really close to the beach I'm like 250 mts from it but my friend has a house beach front and they got a concession for 99 years but as you guys say it is better to always ask the realtor and the lawyer cause every municipality has different "planes reguladores" and that can affect the concession or the "Uso de suelo" if you want to build apartments or rentals etc. Always enjoy watching your great videos 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 P. S I loved the bloopers 😂 so cool you guys are showing that too.
Wow! thanks for clarifying that rules and yes every municipality and province have different rules. Your insights are very appreciated! Glad you enjoy the videos and the bloopers haha
Great video and info guys. Thanks for sharring what you've learned with us. Honestly have to say that purchasing our property in Samara this year was pretty easy and straightforward. After finding the piece of land we wanted we got a great lawyer from Samara who walked us thru the whole process from the purchase agreement to the final signing with most of the transactions done electronically while we where still here in the U.S. Wasnt hard or scary at all. Now we just need to open a bank account and get a car.
Excellent video. Regarding transactions equal to or greater than USD 10,000, Costa Rica has banking regulations in this regard. It applies to individual transactions, or if during the month the sum of such transactions is equal to or greater than USD 10,000. It's similar to the currency transaction report (CTR) is a report that U.S. financial institutions are required to file with FinCEN for each deposit, withdrawal, exchange of currency, or other payment or transfer, by, through, or to the financial institution which involves a transaction in currency of more than $10,000.
We are loving these new videos! Our question is buying non-food goods like clothes, washing machines, paper products, etc...currently we Amazon half and shop for the rest. We heard that Amazon is not a thing there “yet” due to the lack of an address issue. How do you navigate this (especially with growing boys)? Also music. We use Pandora and Spotify for listening here but noticed it is not available in CR...being huge fans of music and live shows we are hopeful that there are alternatives in our CR future... Thanks and keep up the great work!
Great questions! San Jose has everything you could need. The mall in escazu is equal to malls in North America. Appliances can be bought at stores like gollo and monge. As for Amazon you can use a company called box carreos. You sign up then your stuff gets shipped to Miami then yo Costa Rica. A lot of places have a carreos now so you can send to general mail. We have friends and family mule stuff down for us haha. We use Spotify here as we use our families address in Canada, same as for Netflix.
Great videos. I've been down to Costa Rica a few times over the past ten years and am planning to tenatively retire in about 11 years. I was interested in coming down for 2 to 3 months each year. I was interested in buying a car as opposed to renting one and wanted to get a four wheel drive Toyota. Are there any services that handle car service and storage while you are out of the country? Thanks. -Ron
Such great information!! I've been loving all your videos, trying to get ready for CR after COVID!! I haven't seen a video of yours talking about how hot it gets in the winter months. (maybe there is one I just haven't seen it.) We're PNW wimps and the heat and humidity in Manuel Antonio wiped us out last January!! Thanks!!
Thanks for watching, if you keep watching you'll see where we talk about weather, here's a shortcut 😉 th-cam.com/video/upLBY4rfdT0/w-d-xo.html I'm from the super far PNW Terrace British Columbia (look it up on a map) so if i can handle it anyone can. The temp stays about the same all year here in samara but the humidity levels change, the coolest month is October. Being from Kelowna for the 11 years before we moved we're used to the temp and more so the dryness of December to April.
Hi guys, im a new subscriber from Toronto Canada. I appreciate the time you put into this, great information. I was wondering when you incorporated did you do that in the US or Costarica? Thanks.
Thank you, October is the only real rainy month where it can rain for a few days straight but most days start out sunny and then you get a thunderstorm in the afternoon or evening. Some days it won't rain at all. But it is always warm 😊
Thank you for your answer! I have another question, have you encountered a lot of scary creatures like scorpions or snakes since you moved there? Have a great day!
@@TheDufresnes yes who knows when that happens. My wife is from CR so the residency part is handled. We are a few years away from moving so hopefully by then import tax will get implemented.
We are thinking to visit Costa Rica one day and maybe even move down there with 2 children. Its not affordable to buy house we want in USA. How about mortgage and how much the property can cost? Is it safe for children down there and what about things to do?
Subscribe and keep watching our videos, we answer a lot of those questions for you. We build shipping container homes which is much more affordable to build, you can find our builds on our channel too.
Greetings from Germany! Is it possible to cross the Borders (Panama & Nicaragua) by Car with no Residency in Costa Rica? Thanks for all the Informations!
Thanks for the information, I will move also to Samara in two years from now. We are from Montreal, Cdn.. Do you have any reference concerning a good lawyer if we want buy a land or building house. Thanks !!
Yes there are a lot of retirees that move here and there are a lot of popular places, just depends on what amenities or climate people want to love in.
How does it work for doing online work where your paid from Canadian clients, and having to transfer money to your bank in Costa? Also, can a plumber get work there? What’s the going rate?
Haha tarantula is a spider and they are not dangerous, yes they have animals and bugs like that here but you don't see them that often, most people see scorpions or get stung by them but they are only dangerous if the person is allergic to the sting, it's like a bee sting.
Yes it's fairly easy to open a bank account. You just need a letter from your current bank and proof of where you money came from. If you are using a realtor then they would have a lawyer with an escrow account you would send your money too
Thanks for watching, We haven't personally done this but for Shayna's aunt to ship here 2017 CRV Touring it ended up being over $15,000 USD total. This is why we say it's best to sell your vehicle and buy one here. Especially if it's newer, warranty doesn't transfer down and import is expensive.
