The highest thrust to weight ratio second to only one, Concorde. 757's can pack in 200+ people, a snoot full of cargo and STILL take off with ease at the highest/hottest airports anywhere, that's why they are still around.
I flew on one from Cancun to Dallas. It was basically empty (Christmas Day) and I wasn't disappointed. That flight was like a Christmas present in itself. It took off like a racehorse!!
I've flown plenty of jets including 4 of the Boeing line. The 75 is head and shoulders above the rest! Power, control harmony and a predictable, smooth flying plane. I wish Boeing hadn't shut down the line to keep giving the 73 steroid shots.
Yeah! They kind of did things backwards - cancelling an airframe that was superior in every way to the 737, and trying to make that regional hopper into the intercontinental athlete they already had in the 757!
I love the sound of those RB211s I was lucky enough to fly on one a few years ago and I did not disappoint. They really are rockets with wings. So much power!
All my friends ask, why do you love the 757 so much?.... I say, what's not to love about her? such a beautiful sounding plane with those twin rolls Royce engines.
When I see the 757, then I see that one can improve it and make it into the 737 successor. A whole family of new 757s that will make life very hard for the A320 series.
The 757 line can’t and won’t be revived. Fuel economy will strangle her power to weight ratio. And Boeing will just ruin it like they did the 737 w/ endless mods chasing an elusive fit for all markets and routes idea. Unfortunately, and fortunately the 757 will only be as it was, unmolested and left to history as a plane that was ahead of it’s time for its range and payload that wasn’t valued enough when she was being built. I love the 757, for all it’s quirks and flaws and occasional long mornings when she breaks hard and delays us leaving work after a long night. Those times are not often. She will be missed, because there will never be another commercial plane like her. She doesn’t complain like an airbus over errant misplaced electrons. The guys at work groan when they’re assigned to work her, and come to me to whisper sweet words to remind her of what a proud and reliable plane she is. Most of the time she listens and goes on about her days and nights safely carrying oblivious people to their destinations. She will be sorely missed.
Great to see, it used to fly at Transavia Airlines in the Netherlands, and i actually worked on it for 3 years ,before it got sold to RNZAF. particularly this one had amazing overpowered engines it went like a maniac, Still miss the bird , still my fav to work on
“Ladies and Gentlemen this is your Captain speaking. We are taking this bird to Benidorm and we are NOT fucking around. Enjoy the flight, buckle up!” This display made even the red arrows stop and stare at Kemble air show in 2006.
The reason this aircraft performs so well is due to its super powerful Rolls-Royce engines. This is the spirts car of commercial jets. When the American Airlines 757 crashed near Cali it was climbing 28 degrees nose up with the air brakes still deployed.
Why didn't it do a "30 feet-above -ground" high-speed (@ 250 KIAS or up to 300 KIAS if permitted) flyby and then go vertical until its speed bleeds down to 230 KIAS or so for the level-off.

H Tucker I laughed at the Snoopy comment. What’s amazing about this aircraft is that it sounds like a fighter and takes off like a scalded cat. Watch video of a A320 taking off and you’ll see the difference.

NZ7571 or NZ7572, not N757AF. N757AF was never in the RNZAF, or with any NZ operator: www.planespotters.net/airframe/boeing-757-n757af-djt-operations/38w243

I never knew the 757 would look so beautiful in those dark dull gray colors!
This livery is gorgeous!
the 757, the best airplane ever made.
It has that typical airplane look we all know from when we were kids

@brzzzz just listen closely...what else
You should say for the incredible safety of this plane.
I think the 57 was possibly the most beautiful airliner ever made .. And I work for Airbus ;)
not to mention highly performant
one of the most overpowerd aircraft there is, along with the C-130
My favorite commercial plane. Hands down
3:07 very cool sound

Too late. Already discontinued by Boeing in favor of endless variations of the 37.

The way the plane moved from like 2 mph to 100 mph in just a few seconds.
The rolls Royce engines on the 757 looks magnificent because that plane sounds like it’s screaming like mad
One of the best planes ever built
I agree, best looking plane Mr Boeing ever made, even looks great with its gear down.

My Vote for Best Looking is the L-1011 TriStar ! I Love the TriJets, Especially Lockheed,s.
I remember flying on a British Caledonian Tristar to Tenerife out of Gatwick back in I think about 1990. 91...cool.
Stunning, loved the RNZAF 757 at RIAT - Wish it comes back!
My favorite bird to work on as a Flight Attendant and just all around a beautiful plane
That amazing looking military 757!

Great looking plane as others have said
whoa about 19 seconds from almost a static start to liftoff. now that's a short takeoff roll for a large commercial airliner
Very good video, awesome sound when the maximum engine speed. Saludos
Still happy that we have something to be reckoned with on the world aviation stage,Good work boys

We referred to it as the "muscle jet"!
All Boeing's are overpowered, thats what makes them so great! 200th LIKE!
That sounds awesome. I would take that over a 737 anyday
The RB-211 sound on the high speed flyby is damn near sexual.
Cool Falco @ 1:00...
Awesome!
Nice one ☺👏
It nearly went to Plaid a couple of times.
If bmw made planes, this would be the M3. Holy shit amazing. Love this 757 RRtrent
Konrad Checinski I think these are Rolls Royce RB-211's.
+Dylan Tucker RB*
Fraser Andrews Thanks for bringing that to my attention
+Dylan Tucker I didn't mean it in any hostile way. Just pointing it out incase somone decides to have a go at you :-)
Fraser Andrews Thank you.
Flew on a couple 757s in the U.S, Bloody Hell they are awesome "GRUNTY" loved it.
Take a ride on a 777. Close contender, not quite an apples to apples comparison. Doesn’t have the same roar the 757 has when she’s making power.
Can it go 500mph at 1000 feet??
Just heard this christened the "Muscle-Jet" by Juan Browne [blancolirio] right on ! definately hustles
sounded like a damn f1 car when it passed at full speed.
My word those RB211s sound the best ever.ive watched this over and over still doesn't get boring
