Pilot vs Pilot in a nutshell. It's called Titanfall. Why is it the only matches I found for PvP were literally without titans for the longest time.

Pilot has a higher skill ceiling and people tempt to play Titanfall for the movement (which is lacking on titans).
Titans also tempt to slow the game down like crazy, so it makes sense that a lot of players (including me depending on my mood) gravitate to pilots vs pilots.
If you don't enjoy the gamemode you can just get rid of it in the matchmaker.
