You saved me a lot of frustration and grief. I recently purchased a buck that someone took apart without marking the cables with a connector number. They didn't take a picture of the wiring, so it took some detective work. Your video helped so much. Thanks!
Thank you "Buck" guy for sharing your repair of the drive mechanism for the side to side movement. After watching all of the many difficulties you encountered in fixing this issue, I made the decision to just disconnect the power to the drive motor and allow Buck to do all the other things he still did. Like mouth movement, ears wiggling, nodding and of course sing and tell jokes. Nobody misses the side to side movement and by disconnecting the power I was able to stop the loud squalling the mechanism was making. Since you are young and will have many projects in your future, may I suggest a couple of tool tips, I think you will find if you buy a set of screw drivers both large and mini you will find you strip fewer screws. The screw driver you used looked like a multi tipped ratcheting tool which did not serve you well on this project. Also I have found that a small, neodymium magnet on the shaft of the screwdriver allows me to easily remove and replace screws, especially in tight places. Also I have found a power screwdriver to be a very beneficial addition to my tool box. Thanks again for posting this video.
I don’t know if you’re going to read this comment but if you do I just wanted to say thank you so much for making this video! Thanks to your video I was able to repair both my bucks! It is a long process but in my opinion it is worth it to get the side to side to work again. A tip that I learned is that It does help to heat the skin up with a dryer to make it fit on the skeleton better.
Finally a good repair video for Buck! Nice job! If I didn't know how to fix it before this video I would have felt pretty comfortable fixing mine after it. You definitely covered everything that you need to know and be aware of. Btw the Buck that I fixed had the brown cloth spring covers.

Great video. I had the same issue a few years ago and misplaced the cracked gear. Can you confirm the replacement gear you purchased from Amazon was a 10 tooth 102A reduction gear
Yes that is correct, although I was having issues with the normal sized gear as it is a bit smaller than the original and doesn’t catch on the bigger gears. What I had to do is buy the 102a long reduction gear, sand it to the correct size of the original and it worked great.
Up and down is the same repair, just unscrew the up and down mechanism at the bottom of the deer and replace the bad gear. But in your case it’s not a matter of gears it the mech popped out. All you have to do is screw it back in.

it moves pretty much 100% now

you can get them on Amazon or out of a billy bass. Just look up 10 tooth gears and they will have about 30 or so for 10 bucks.
Mine has this issue as well as the mouth. It moves, but not nearly as much as it should. Any ideas about that?
My buck has no songs or movement when I press the buttons, it does work through aux though, but still no movement. Any ideas??
