She doesn't sing this song because she was depressed. She sings it because she suffered from epilepsy when she was younger. She describes how she felt during her seizures in which she lost control. But of course it's a beautiful song that gives strength to people with mental illnesses. Because the fears are pretty similar

This might not how the song is interpreted by the singer, nor anybody else, but this is how I feel about this song.
Summer of 2022, I walked towards the hospital where my mom was. A few days earlier she texted me for the last time, that she had breathing problems. And now she layed there with tubes coming out of her mouth, fighting to breath. Gasping for air. It was the hardest thing I've seen, but not nearly as hard for her, that if she didn't get infected by covid she could've lived. So after she lost the hardest battle she ever fought, i thought to myself.. don't ever let me lose control like that, stuck with some tubes in my lungs. This song really reminds me about that. I love this song. Just like i loved my mom so much. Thank you. ❤

I lost my best friend to cancer and this song has been my anthem for that and not losing control of my MH because of it (We were in ED recovery together). This song makes me think of everything my amazing boyfriend has helped me through. I dealt with a lot of anxiety and PTSD and since the day we met and he held my hands as I expressed my insecurities with him with no hesitation I knew he was going to be the one to help me overcome my anxiety and so far, almost a year later, I was right and continue being right every time I have those days where it feels like I’m losing the battle against my anxiety and PTSD and he holds me and tells me everything will be okay, I believe it and everything does feel okay

I lost my mom at 38, this song makes me just bawl hearing it every single time. It's hard to explain how wrong life feels without your mom. Especially when she's all you had in terms of parents or grandparents for like 20 years when I lost everyone else early and unfairly 😢

The fact you sung this song about epilepsy and yet so many people can relate to this about their own different traumas is beautiful ❤️ from epilepsy to birth trauma/PTSD to many other struggles, this song sums it up so perfectly. We don’t want to lose control and we need that anchor in our lives ❤️

I’m a 14 year old suffering from over exaggerated anxiety. I was scared that I wouldn’t be able to control myself. Sometimes I wanted to end my own life because I just couldn’t take it anymore. But every time I listen to this song, I remember that no matter how grim life may seem, you’ll get through it if you believe in yourself to keep moving forward, remind yourself that you’re a good person and remember that you aren’t alone. It’s normal to make mistakes. You are always beautiful, and don’t listen to anyone who says you’re not.
