- The Gilgamesh Confederation invade Planet Sunsa. It is one of the bloodiest battles of the hundred war.
During the operation Chirico runs off on his own; remembering triggers his past memories from Sunsa. Lehman and two other red shoulders make contact with Chirico, it turns into a violent battle with Lehman testing to see if Chirico is truly an "Unkillable Man" - เพลง
Chrico's plot armour is subdermal and it's impossibly thin. It's why we can never see it, but it holds him together while the world blows apart around him.
Man, I love how these ATs move. Such a joy to see and hear.
Him and mellowlink is literally the epitome of *i didn't hear no bell*
Probably the best mecha battle in he genre's history. This made the OVA for me.

この地獄の様な戦場で全ての兵士が同じロボットに乗り、同じ装備を身に纏い、当たり前のように傷付き、ゴミのように破壊され、虫のように死んでいく、この平等が装甲騎兵ボトムズという作品の魅力の一つだと私は思う。だからこそ、この世界に異能として生まれてしまったキリコが不憫でならない、決して死ぬ事が出来ない定めを受けてしまうなんて、本当に不幸で孤独な主人公だよキリコは。
デライダ高地の戦いの後一人で砂漠を歩く彼が悲しくて。クメンで三人組に再会できたのは良かったですが。

This is such a cool fight, I really love the animation of chirico blocking the shots with his AT's arm and then firing back, but I can't help but be a little disappointed that we don't actually get to see how chirico ended the battle against lehman and the other AT pilot.

着弾・破壊シーン一つとってもハァハァしちまう(;´Д｀)ああもうたまらん。
ある意味贅沢と言ってもよいかもしれない。
アニメージュ文庫の小説でも言及されていたけど、改めて観るとリーマンとその部下のATの操作技術は射撃精度やフォーメーションなどやっぱり高いなぁ。
運悪く流れ弾(?)にやられた、この時はまだフルネームが設定されていなかったリーマン指令合掌m(_ _)m
吸血部隊という、軍の中でもトップクラスの荒くれ者共を曲がりなりにも隊としてまとめ上げていた人間ですからな。
今西隆志的演出让本作的精彩程度比之前的ova提高了不止一个档次

2機のうち残った部下の機体がめちゃくちゃ優秀です。
必殺のパイルバンカーが失敗して火器が左脇のガトリングしかなくなったリーマンを自機の後方に下がらせて、キリコ機との射撃戦の結構な部分を3・4発程度機体の左側に被弾したのみで持ちこたえているんですよね。
キリコ機の左腕を破壊したのもこの機体で、ヘビィマシンガンの弾倉交換がこの戦闘中に事実上できなくなったことから、もう少し粘れれば・・・・と思いますがキリコは異能生存体ですからねぇ(;´Д｀)
もう1機も撃破されていなかったら・・・・やはり異能生存体には(以下省略(;´Д｀))
動画冒頭のシーンで弾倉交換してからヘビィマシンガンの発砲数を大雑把にカウントしたところ、90発くらいは発砲しています。キリコも左腕が破壊されてからはヘビィマシンガンの残弾が気になりだしたのか、後半では左脇のガトリングの使用が増えています。
左脇のガトリングについてはリーマン機もかなり使用していましたが、格闘戦での使用を意識して、背部ザックに通常よりも多い弾数とその収納スペースが確保されていたのではないかと思います。リーマン機はパイルバンカーと大型VHFアンテナが目立ちますが、コマンダーカスタムの名のとおり外観以上にカスタムされているとあれこれ想像します(｀ー´)

不思議なのはリーマン機というかリーマンの装備の考え方や使用法なんですけども、何故にパイルバンカーをあの大きなアンテナまで付いている右腕に装備してガラ空きの左腕に装備しなかったのか？まだ弾の残っているはずのライフルを手放してまでパイルバンカーを打ち込む必要があったのか？
と今でも思い出す度に考えていたりします‥
あ‥もしやリーマンはこういう機体を操り、こういう戦術を取る事を既に異能者より操られていたのかもしれませんよね‥

リーマン機WAVEでプラモ出してほしいな
謎の右手パイルバンカー・・・アレでリーマンはメインウェポンを失う。
パイルバンカーを右手にセットするにはヘビィマシンガンの銃身が地面に接触してしまうので投棄したようです。左手に持ち替えなかったのはリーマンはパイルバンカーで仕留められる自信と決意、あるいはAT乗りでもある司令官としての意地があったのでしょう。結果キリコの頭部横に少しそれてしまい、距離をとって以降は再び近接戦に持ち込めず、このパイルバンカーを外したことがリーマンにとっての事実上の敗北と言ってもいいかもしれません。数の差を生かして射撃戦でキリコ機をある程度消耗させてから、接近戦を仕掛けたほうが確率は高かったと思います。
リーマン自身無自覚に必殺のパイルバンカーを急いでしまった感があります。
指揮官機なのに格闘を意識するリーマン機には、予備として背部ザックに装備することも含めてヘビィマシンガンショーティの方が戦闘で柔軟に対応できたと思います。

One thing I don't like about this anime is that everyone uses a similar version of the the same VOTOMS (almost always painted green), plus everyone uses the same pilot gear that covers up their faces so you can't see who is piloting what.
Some battles are kinda hard to follow when everyone looks about the same.

I understand why all the ATs are the same, and I don't have a problem with the bleakness of the setting or whatever; what I'm saying is: if the guy's hair is blue, why can't his AT be blue?
YES, his hair is blue because he is a perfect soldier, so is it so much to ask, of this almighty and nonesuch character, for his lowly AT to be any other color other than green?
I'm not saying that he had to have painted it himself. No, what I'm saying is that the AT he chose could have just happened to be painted in a different way, for absolutely any reason, before he piloted it.
I've seen Scopedogs painted in colors different than olive green, so don't tell me it's impossible. Moreover, the fight gets easier to follow after Chirico and his AT take a couple wounds, so maybe it could have started with them already in a bad state (i.e. his VOTOMs immediatly looses an arm right as the fight starts/ Chirico leaves bloody hand-prints as he crawls into the AT to pilot it).
Finally, I can believe that some of you had no trouble identifying each character in this messy fight, but just telling me that you didn't experience my problem isn't going to make the problem disappear for me. Imagine, as an average person, if you went to someone with diabetes and told them that "Well, I didn't have any trouble eating this strawberry cake, so neither should you". Of course, I'm not asking for us all to be forced to eat cakes without sugar because of the possibility of someone on the table having insulin problems; I'm just asking for fucking blue on the fucking AT on the one fight where there's a trillion fuckers that all look the same.
You can tell from the hair
Lehman's is all Swept back where as Chirico's is a more prominent widow's peak.
Anytime Lehman appears it's usually in a squad, where as Chirico is almost always alone. Lehman (and squad) are mostly facing the left side of the screen where as Chirico is mostly facing the right.
the mass production of the scopedogs and the Gear is to dehumanize them (the pilots) even further then Zaku Pilots
I know all that, but Chirico really could have just driven a VOTOMS that just happened to be blue coloured, and use a different set of goggles.
The fight becomes a lot easier to understand, at least for me, once Chirico's VOTOMS looses an arm and he starts to bleed all over. I think they should have started the fight with clear visual distinctions between the characters ON TOP of all the details.
