Not just one of the best OVAs ever made… THE BEST. Granted a lot of the flashback stuff should have been explored more but what we got is pretty damn good.
As a lifelong mecha fan at 24yrs old, I can’t thank my late dad enough for getting me into mecha when he bought me a bunch of mecha anime dvds when I was a kid. Shows like Votoms, Escaflowne, Full Metal Panic, and of course Gundam are massive impacts in my life simply because my dad wanted to buy some dvds and watch em with me. If that didn’t happen I never would’ve known about this masterpiece of a series and so many other mecha. Thank you Dad.

There's something so industrial about them, no frills, no pizzazz, just big chunky boys doing a job. The working man's mech, if you will. (Like I said I don't know mecha anime I might be speaking out my ass, sorry.)
The best part about the Scopedogs in Votoms is they were meant to be mass produced with cheap materials and highly explosive liquid for its muscle fibers. We call them "Grunt suits" in the mecha community. The writer of Votoms wanted the series to run on real robot and hard science logic for added realism. For example these mechs are not the size of skyscrapers but rather like the size of a pickup truck aligned vertically, and from time to time they also fight actual tanks and helicopters. The actual acryonm for VOTOMS is "Vertical One-man Tank for Offense & ManeuverS" its treated like a vehicle.
Roots is so amazing. Probably one of the best mecha OVAs ever made. The really don't make 'em like this anymore!

In terms of portraying the Votoms world and tech, yes.

One day: the people in the VOTOMS universe will stop putting Explodium into ATs....
Wasn't the reasoning behind that that the power plant of Vertical Tanks was super energy dense?

Its bout time this series gets the attention it deserves.

I just bought the complete series on blu ray. I can't wait to start watching.

I wonder whether Scopedogs have collectively shot down other Scopedogs more than they have Fattys. Thanks for uploading this.

Damn forgot how brutal VOTOMS was.. I believe this was the recruits live training exercise, i forget it's been a long time since I've seen this.
Thankyou for showing me the Anime I needed for so long.
Scopedogs are too fucking cool
Peak anime era 😎
I loved Votoms back in the day!!! Does anyone know where can I watch the series?
Miss watching anime of this quality 👏🧐
Votoms is like an AK, built in mass, cheap and expendable .
Life is so cheap and plentiful in this universe 🎉
thanks for showing me a cool anime to check out
