Almost forty years ago, I would come to Kanakapura a few times a year to buy granite slabs for a client. By now, I am guessing the quarries must be completely depleted. The roads have certainly become a lot better, but there are a lot of small construction structures along them which -occasionally bar views of the beautiful landscape. I have ridden the old roads on the grandaddy of your Himalayan - an Enfield 350 with the gearshift and brakes reversed. Happy riding, and glad you are safe! Best wishes!

I always prefer Kanakapura route to goto Mysore rather than the regular Mysore highway. This is green n scenic road. There are small carts selling sugarcane juice on roadside
Also should be mindful of KSRTC bus on this route ..some drivers are rash and this route is best avoided on weekends especially Sunday evenings towards bangalore..bumper to bumper traffic
Yes sir. Thats a near miss. I used to travel daily on this road (around 4 yrs) to my factory in Harohalli industrial area. That single road is a mess. People drive crazy and esp KSRTC and BMTC buses really scare you. Lots of people drive to Mysore through this road only. Hence it is a bit crowded. We dont know when this road is completely going to double line with dividers. Till that time, we have to be very cautious.
sir, I would love to see you go to the SGS Gundu pulav in cottenpete, the main branch for some lip smacking chicken pulav. if you do go there, please put some pepper on the biriyani that they provide there :)

I've been continuously following intermittent fasting for the last hundred days after watching you talk about its benefits and am feeling much better both body and soul, thank you Kripal! I love your food vlogs, and admire your wonderful calm but sophisticated character and the way that you always carry yourself! That monk like character got amply exhibited more so in the seconds after the tractor scare... While most in that situation would possibly have got agitated and thrown a tantrum, there was not a hint of flutter, anxiety or raised temper in that ever calming voice of yours! As you later nicely put it, there are two ways to go about it, either get agitated about all of it, or else just embrace! #KripalSwami :-) Keep bringing happiness into our lives, drive safe! We probably have the worst traffic manners anywhere in the world. The way that tractor guy suddenly turned left, i have faced it many times with the auto guys. They suddenly take the turn when you are following the lane discipline. Thankfully you dodged the mishap.

Kanakapura Road is the most dangerous road recorded in Bangalore urban (facts) ! There are countless thefts , accidents due to bad roads , murders and gangs at night ( hopefully by 2023 it becomes a national highway )
Kanakapura road is a nightmare & a death trap. Unfortunately it connects to lot of good places. Horrible road manners for the drivers. You should have blessed your choices to the tractor. It could have been a worst day out for you. Lucky you escaped.

Tractors which carry tanks are always dangerous as and when they turn the tank will glide away by the inertia of turn which is very lethal to some body who is at the side to the tractor. It is wise always not to go side by side to a tractor.In my home town a lady lost her life .

But yes, one has to be extremely careful when on the left. As for the Fat Boy, I think it would have performed just as well on the braking as the Himalayan.
