Without Les Claypool, I wouldn't be a musician. Much less would I be the bass player that I am today. Other than Carl Sagan, Les is the only individual that has profoundly changed my life. Great guy and an unreal bassist, long live sir Claypool
I love how just about every comment here is relevant to when this album first came out like 16 years ago! Makes me feel so nostalgic even though I was still unaware of Claypool back in '06.
I have listened to this over and over and over. All the way across Nebraska from the Iowa line to Wyoming once. And then I wished there were more Nebraska.
people think he's a smug asshole for no reason, but it's actually because he's worked his ass off to go from being a goof ball in a loser band to being a legend of bass guitar
Tales from the Punchbowl and Frizzle Fry are indirct refrences from Primus. Barrington Hall is another from The Frog Brigade. Barrington Hall was famous for having parties with LSD spiked punch. Claypool was a fan of such parties.
The video is an excerpt of the short "Kontsert porgandipirukale" (Concert for a Carrot Pie) (2002) by Heiki Ernits and Janno Põldma, so hardly this video is official. Anyway both things, animation and music are great.
*travels to this video comment in a little red time spaceship from the far away year of 2019.* ......myup. Sure don't miss none of those things. *Puts back on spaceman goggles and flies away*
Wow, this video was posted 17 years ago. Same with the John the Fisherman video. Just goes to show how much people are into Les Claypool. Primus sucks!
No one gives Les one better on the bass. Holy shit I love this song its one of his best. One Better, Buzzards of Green HIll, Red State Girl, Ding Dang, Beezlebub (w/ Beats Anique where he basically ruins the electronic genre),. The Big Eyeball in the Sky, Thai Noodles, Hendershot, Stayin Alive (cover), ec, many Primus greats, Jerry, Wynona, Mud, Tommy, John, Harold, Frizzle, Groundhog. ect ect ect ect Claypool is the one better.
Les gets his appeal not because of how well he can play, but because he plays so well while making his awesome sound. He's not the best out there. By no means is he the best out there. He is the most origional though.
there are claypool compilation music books that ive seen in stores that have both the sheet music and tab. being a popular claypool song this is probably in one ofthem. dunno if that helps
Anybody know where I could find the mallet sheet music for the whole song? This is cut shorterfrom the original... Thanks. Having quite a bit of difficulty finding anything, and I'd love to perform a cover, but the mallet solo is pretty intense to learn by ear in the original.
You name all great bassist's, but none of them are as affluent or innovative as Les Claypool. I would listen to him over those guys any day of the week.
im pertty sure les made this clip him self. he is a animator, painter, sculptor, glassblower, movie director, actor, drummer and i dont know what else other than being the coolest bass player known to man i think his talent is boundless.
Yes, but Les plays the ol slap and tickle unlike most bass players. His strumming method combined with his slapping is what makes his ish hard to copy. That and he is a freak of nature. :)
You know what would be cool? If Les formed a superband with Metallica lead guitarist Kirk Hammet. Apparently they were good friends in high school. That would kick some ass.
There was a cartoon called 'Flytales' used for time filler between movies on one of the Canadian movie channels some years ago....does anybody know if this is the same animators? This song KICKS!!!!
Beyonce, I'm real happy for ya, and Imma let'cha finish, but Les Claypool has the greatest music video of all time. Of all time!
This song/music video made me happy during my teen angst era in high school. Thanks Les!
Les Claypool is amazing! This song is amazing! Any sound that comes out of Les Claypool's bass is amazing! =)
He played all the drums on this album too.
Hope you spit up your coffee when you read that.

Yea feels like time machine in a way, likeni stumbled on some hidden time treasure
This is my favorite song on the Of Whales and Woe album. Fantastic stuff.
I have listened to this over and over and over.
All the way across Nebraska from the Iowa line to Wyoming once.
And then I wished there were more Nebraska.
Original video is "Kontsert porgandipirukale" (Concert for a Carrot Pie)
awesome psychadelic funk groove... Am not a fan of les claypool myself but this song really rocks
I love the song and thank you for the upload. Learn it on bass and you'll feel so much better. Pete approved.
You my friend, are my hero. Thanks for the upload.
It's this underground drug called "practice." He's been on it for 35 years.
@BoulderBro999 why? No, Ler is awesome, Lars is the drummer for Metallica.
@BoulderBro999 why? Ah, I see.
people think he's a smug asshole for no reason, but it's actually because he's worked his ass off to go from being a goof ball in a loser band to being a legend of bass guitar

Wow. Best video I have seen to date for anything done by Les.
This song is kickass and the video matches. COOL.
I posted the 420th rating!!! I'm awesome!!!! But on a more serious note, this song sounds like an auditory dream. Incredible.

Extraordinary animation and music.
There is a shitload of Zappa in that man.
Bless you, Claypool for never compromising your gloriously bizarre perspective.
I just saw him in Dallas... he's awesome!
The video/animation contest posted on his website ends July 2nd.
It's good. It compliments the music and lyrics.
Yea, just felt like saying Primus sucks for old times sake ;) Grats on the concert, I need to catch Claypool sometime soon...it's been awhile.
damn. this is funky as hell. its crazy funky
Wow!! Magnifique!
You can't compare them they each had their own styles and any way Cliff died when he was young he still could have even greater than he already was.

I like the music'n'all, learning alot of it, but his videos really creep me out ^^
I read the video has a connection with Les always wanting to become a childrens novel writer.
Im pretty happy he decided to take music.
les is the best hands down
this video still a better plot than jersey shore, twilight, and both fred movies
*travels to this video comment in a little red time spaceship from the far away year of 2019.* ......myup. Sure don't miss none of those things. *Puts back on spaceman goggles and flies away*
