There’s competitions and conventions for so many things that should be more well known like this. For example, theres a whistling competition/convention is one of the Carolinas (idr which)
The thing about performing is you need tricks you can hit every time, even if you're feeling off that day. Performers become excellent at always nailing tricks that are sorta-hard but not super hard. Can't be too hard because it would be risky, might mess up. Someone who focuses on competition is going to be better at competing. I've seen this in several circus arts, magic for example. Amateur magicians are often "better" than pros, because they only have to get it right once in a while, so they can practice harder techniques, where a pro has to find the chosen card every night, no mistakes ever.
😮 I totally missed that. Now I had to Google. Yes, I see the resemblance. Jack is so educational. I learn so much watching his videos. He should be on NPR in Boston.
The longer I'm on the internet, the more I realise that there are thousands of very specific communities out there for sorts of hobbies and interests and often those communities are a decent size and you generally have very little idea it exists until suddenly you encounter it and a whole world opens. It's very cool but also overwhelming the part of me that wants to 100% life and wants to be involved in everything 😂
It’s good to try weird things you might not normally do- I started going to Renaissance faires last year after finding out about Jacques thanks to TH-cam shorts
"I was one of the worst whip crackers there" Dude, you were killing it in that ten target challenge until you had a little foot slip-up. That doesn't diminish your whip cracking ability.
There are always people who are better than you at whatever it is you do, and that's okay. Something like this, with all levels of skill, just pushes you to get better. It means you get the chance to see how other people do the same thing you do and learn new things. You never stop learning your craft.
I love that the whole convention was started mainly to see friends and have fun with them, now that's a life goal right there. Spending time and catching up with friends.
This was actually pretty interesting. Had no idea that there were such a thing as whipping conventions. I'm glad that guy is keeping them going. It seems a good way to meet people with same interest, make friends, and have fun.

Don’t quit your daytime whipping job mate. :) Always love see people being totally into something and sharing it with the rest of us. Really cool video! Keep it up!
If you want to hear Jack nerd out about history you should listen to the Overly Sarcastic Podcast where he has appeared as a guest twice. And the second one is a History special episode!
Love this! It's good seeing Dakota in the background, too. I know she's a behind the scenes kinda person & I miss seeing her. In all of Adam's videos, I didn't realize how many people actually show up for this. He always makes it seem like 20 people attend 😂
I can’t wait to go to your show at Scarborough Ren Fest in a few weeks! The Traveler’s Stage is a great location. I’ll be requesting “Texas Hold ‘Em”. And don’t worry, we won’t let you forget to do the roll 😂
I used to build courses for IPSC pistol speed shooting competitions, we also had foot fault lines....~EXCEPT we used 2x2" lumber sticks~ that had been drilled first and spiked to the ground. You could hit them with your toe, you could even have your toe on the board but if your toe touched the other side, you got a foot fault and got zero on all targets shot on the wrong side of the line. You could get eliminated from that stage if it was deemed you got a "significant advantage" by your actions. This worked well because it keep the game going and the tactile feedback, really helped you stay within the boundaries to test the goal skills of speed and accuracy. This looks like a ton of fun but it might be a good suggestion for the next meet too use larger tactile fault lines, so the fastest and most accurate whippers rise to the top. It makes it more fun for whippers and gives better speed/flow for the observers 😊 Also, are firearms shot timers ever used in whip sports for seeing reaction time and time between cracks? These timers would most certainly pick up whips and would be great for fast draw events like....standing on line, whip holstered, hands above shoulders, draw whip and crack it to see who can do it the fastest.
Tiny Girl Big Show!! And Adam Crack!! They are at my home ren faire of Bristol Renaissance Faire on the border of Wisconsin and Illinois! You should preform there!!!
Would love to see Jaques at Bristol but I'm not sure they would let another whip performer since they already have Adam. However, I would love to see his show in person. I would yell Freebird as loud as possible when asking for song requests.
I can just imagine anyone driving past with windows open, a street or two away, who don't know it's happened. And just thinking, "Listen to all those shots!?!? DRIVE FASTER!!!"
So others can maybe hit all ten targets without scratching. But can they make a room full of people - most of them grown adults, mind you - sing out loud "Whip me baby one more time?"
So you know you are handsome, talented, and intelligent. Thats why you have so much confidence. Im into it, someone that gets it and will do things with me!
