I’m so happy you did this album! I am a huge fan and Cacophony was one of my most anticipated albums this year (I loved it immensely) and I’m going to a tour date for this album tour!!! So excited! Per the last woman on earth, a man actually requested to be buried on top of Marilyn Monroe, and Paris Paloma took that as a grim inspiration for the song, along with her own experiences. She’s an awesome person and artist and I am completely in awe.
Me too! I cannot stop listening 😭 So jealous you’re getting to see her live, I bet it will be incredible!!! Oh wow… typical… a man HA! Makes sense and just cements the many messages! Love it sm!!!! 💙💙💙💙
triassic love is based on a true story Scientists have discovered a burrow in South Africa where two unlikely creatures shared a home before being entombed by a flash flood 250 million years ago. The strange bedfellows were a beat-up young amphibian, broken ribs, seeking shelter and a sleeping cynodont, considered a distant ancestor of mammals, researchers say. The burrow was unearthed from what is today South Africa's Karoo Basin, which would have been part of the ancient supercontinent Gondwana at the start of the Triassic Period. Using high-energy X-rays from the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) in France, scientists were able to see through the lair and look at its contents without destroying it. theres more if you want to look into it, but i suggest looking at the fossil photo of the two. A flood enclosed the two and sealed their fate as the two snuggled. Since it was raining heavy and they were in a burrow. Thats what the song is based on
62 year old male here She is incredibly talented. You mention Florence and Taylor. But believe me Paris Paloma's writing is in the Kate Bush and Joni Mitchell league. I hope she gets the acclaimed she deserves.
This is such a good album! I definitely had some difficulty understanding some of the songs at first, but after many listens some of them are more clear to me, or at least I feel like I have a decent interpretation of them. His Land seems to be about how woman have to adapt to a patriarchal world, and have to avoid doing certain things for the sake of safety. Triassic Love Song was actually inspired by a fossil of a prehistoric mammal and reptile who curled up together in a burrow for warmth in a flood and drown together there. Paris talked about this song on her tiktok before the album released, which is where I got the info. Escape Pod feels like a song about survivors guilt to me. Last Woman on earth may be my favourite off the album, and you may be the first man I have seen even slightly understand the meaning. Hunter was inspired by a series of paintings depicting woman playing and lying with dangerous animals. Credit again to Paris on her tiktok. The Warmth, in my interpretation, is about overcoming depression and/or trauma. Also this album is just such a masterpiece on lyricism and detail. From the "So that he never lifts a finger" line in Labour which could be interpreted as never lifting a finger to do anything, or never lifting a finger to hurt her, to the opening and existing beat in Drywall sounding like heavy footsteps, this album just blew me away.
Omg I loved reading all of this sm! Thank you or such a detailed comment, my absolute favourite!! I haven't been able to stop listening since reacting to it omg!
I've never heard of them but I'm going to listen to this album during my hour long bus ride. it reminds me of my indie phase in middle school and is definitely a vibe ✨ thanks for putting me on 🫶🏾
I listened to this album when it first came out and yeah, the singles especially had such an impact! Watching this reaction now, I realized this album has strong witch energy perfect for October ✨🧹
Personally "The Hunter" I can't help but see my relationship with my mental health "if you were easy to kill, I would have done it already" (depression and mental illnesses are notoriously difficult to treat or have) Then "if I was easy to kill, you would have done it already" speaks to someone who is fighting their mental illnesses, and refusing to fold, their illness isn't winning By the end, she's singing about it being a "healthy, gentle, purring beast" so it could also be the brain that the beast represents, the narrator having "tamed" their brain and mental illnesses and now living with them rather than fighting them, and their brain has become "healthy" due to treatment? And the final line saying again "if you were easy to kill, I would have done it already" might indicate even if peace has been found, being rid of the beast may be better, but fully beating mental illness isn't easy if it's even possible
This album has brought me so much realization in my life.... I do not have a bad life at all and my husband does try to not be part of the problem, but he also does choose to be at many times... This album gave me the strength to stand up to his behavior (which I usually do, but we argue about it and that's it, nothing comes of it...) and I stood my ground to his behavior and made him understand what it was truly doing. We are on the path to working on our relationship now and that is the beauty in it all for me....
Thank you for such a powerful and meaningful reaction, it means a lot. ❤ Eta: This is the best album I've ever heard in my whole 47yo life. Truly a stunning work of music history - end of edit. For me, bones on the beach is about how tiring it is to be a woman. You always carry a burden of unreasonable expectation, and you live with a needling fear caused by men. And if you have personal experience with sa and/or abuse, more needles and such a heavy burden that you carry for years, decades, maybe your whole life. Therapy may ease it a bit, but the shape of the burden remains. I know abpit the inspiration, but hunter for me is about our mental health, about how that viscious voice in our mind, the internalised message from parents and the patriarchy that pulls us down and tries to eat us alive, bury us in darkness and depression. How the culture, a partner and/or parents enforced that negative voice that is so detrimental to our mental health. The beast is our mental health, a beast bc it's also our power, our source of strength and will to fight and keep going. Regarding Paris' own explanation, I'd like to add that in the precolonial culture of my people (indigenous Saemie/Sami), women hunted with bow and arrow, just as fiercely as any man. I do like the way she ended the album. It's a much needed injection of hope after so many emotionally painful and powerful songs. A life well lived is the sweetest revenge, and knowing it's out there waiting is what some of us need to hear. ❤️🩹 I've followed you and will check out your channel when I've sated my thirst for reactions to labour. ❤ from the 🏳️🌈 fam
