Bro, ultimate alliance 1 is still like, a pretty top tier marvel game, ultimate 2 and 3 were ass, but ultimate alliance 1 is still like, the mecha of marvel games. Definitely superior to x men legends 1 and 2. Legends 1 and 2, and ultimate alliance 1 need a remaster
Ultimate Alliance never hooked me like how XML1 and 2 did. I dunno, why exactly. Maybe there were just too many different heroes? I liked the team feel of X-Men.
I remember doing multiple playthroughs with this game, and after I determined which characters I loved more, I made sure to focus on powering them up all the way. Getting characters fully powered was so satisfying. My go-tos were Cyclops, Storm, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler and Wolverine.
I prefer X-Men Legends 2 over Ultimate Alliance, but I love and have beat both games many times. I just like the control you have in X-Men Legends 2 over how you build your characters. That and the itemization. Those two things were sorely missed in UA1. I feel like UA1 might have been the better game if it kept those 2 features intact. Losing them hurt the game more than anything else in my opinion.
Same! I became a huge fan X-MEN after X-Men Legends 2 and then Marvel after Ultimate Alliance. Those two games are both in my top 10 favorites. I just don't think you get much better than a dungeon crawling, beat em up rpg where you level up and strengthen super heroes! I loved how you got to choose which skills you liked and could focus on building those ones up first. Especially in X-Men Legends because you had more abilities to choose from and could even boost their attribute points when you leveled up. When I found out you couldn't do that in UA1 I was bummed out. Still ended up loving it, but it definitely would have been better with that stuff included.
Yep! I remember picking certain heroes like Cyclops purely for the fact that their abilities were really easy to combo with on a regular basis. Gambit's attack where he'd throw down cards in front of him that would pop up the enemies was super easy to combo with Cyclops laser attacks. So I'd use them together all the time.
One thing that is worth mentioning about danger room missions, you get items from them as long as the mission isn't beaten, after you beat it you can no longer earn items, loot, health and energy vials etc
This game holds a very special place in my childhood memories. I easily put at least 100 hours into that game. Played it with multiple people so they would understand how amazing it was. I gotta play it again as an adult.
I played it and loved it as a teen. Ended up getting married several years later and started up a PS2 collection of my old favorites. So I bought X-Men Legends 2 off Ebay and ended up playing it a ton on co-op with my wife. She liked it a ton too and would play it with me for hours. She always used Iceman and Jean Grey. While I mostly used Gambit and Colossus.
If you think Cyclops is weak, you’re playing him wrong. You can annihilate bosses with his optic blast. Also when he’s in the party, Combos do way more damage and give you a ton of XP.
@@mo6live She becomes OP by mid game. Her second skill telepathic wave becomes ridiculously OP. Unless you’re fighting sentinels who are mental resistant, it’s the strongest area skill in the game
Cyclops was almost always on my team purely for the fact you could combo with him all day. Gambit was always my leader and he could combo with Cyclops a ton. So they made a really good duo to build your team around. I usually threw Iceman and a physical brawler in there to round out the team. Worked pretty well for me.
This series is dear to me, as it brings back memories of me and friend just absolutely falling in love with this game. This game is 20 years old… I didn’t play this game when it came out. I was a few years late to it but, my friend and I (even as adults) stayed up all night playing 1&2.
@@KingOfThaDead64 3 was too grindy (I say this as someone who unlocked all characters and costumes and maxed out several characters) but it had the most impressive roster in a Marvel game outside of Marvel Heroes Omega.
I never played Legends but before Marvel Ultimate Alliance I had only watched the movies and cartoons. MUA with trivia and the roster taught me a lot about the Marvel Universe.
I used to always have cyclops on my team and I would put all his points into stamina for mutant power, and the whole game it was unlimited optic blasts for me.
Man, X-Men legends was such a fun game. I remember late game Gene Gray storm gets so powerful. They start throwing the enemies through walls and the environment. It felt so epic being a kid and I’m like this is a battle for real.
These games were so good, so many hours spent on them back in the PS2 era ahhh the best! Ultimate Alliance 3 was great and all but I would really love to have a X-men Legends 3 where it just focuses on them. Or at the very least give us remasters :)
X Men Legends I’ve beat way over 8 times this game right here was my shit! So many different team play throughs I’ve done. The OST for this game was a 10 for me! Hope you play through the whole game ! 😌
X-Men Legends 2 for the best builds. It had actual RPG with stats, passive skills, and active skills. Wish they'd go back to basics and bring that all back and do X-Men Legends 3.
I think legends 2 is the best gameplay and RPG wise. There was a lot to sink your teeth into that was dumbed down in MuA. The story is a little weirdly paced, though.
@@mikesannitti6042I agree 100%. It was better overall and I liked it more, but I still had tons of fun with Ultimate Alliance. It's just the type of gameplay I can't get enough of and you can't go wrong with playing as super heroes in an RPG beat em up.

one distinct thing that i really loved about this one over the second one is the announcer hyping yelling “COMBO” over and over again for some reason the announcer in the second game wasn’t as hyped
This game made me love Magma because she was so fun to use in this, and it's made her the most underrated X-Man for me, for some odd reason the sequel did the same for Sunfire lol, probably my attempt to have a Magma substitute.

I found some of the dialogue from the enemies funny such as “Surprise, surprise” or “This is gonna be fun” from the Morlocks also the guy shouting ‘Combo’ every few seconds was hilarious🤣.
I actually played it again since last week and I just finished the level where Magneto and the Sentinels came to the Front Lawn of the Mansion! I just love this game and I love playing Rogue! She’s my favorite X-Man ever!

X-Men Legends 2 is still the best of the three, IMO. My only beef with Ultimate Alliance was how many bosses devolve into QTE's and don't really let you feel that ARPG "My build is online and now I'm going to dumpster everything" power spike since the QTE's hard cap the amount of damage you can do to the bosses every phase. X-Men Legends 2 really only had one or two bosses with that mechanic and some of the uber bosses really let your builds feel absurd. I need a reboot of this ❤
LET’S GOOOOOOO!!! I didn’t know you were actually gonna go back to X-Men Legends!!! I figured Ultimate Alliance was the closest we were gonna get. What a treat, you’re the fucking man
I truly enjoyed this your video on this game. This is one of my most cherished childhood games and I appreciate how you reviewed not just the game, but the box art as well. I’ve always been a fan of the X-Men! Great work! ✊🏿👌🏿🙏🏿
