It's weird how here in the Nordic countries it seems like old pulp hero comics and stuff like Tarzan are more popular than american Superheroes (or atleast when I was a kid). I'm finnish and I had never seen a DC or Marvel comicbook in my life (until I bought few from Germany) few years ago. Yet, I have dozens of Phantom comics and they are still sold in stores here. Of course Donald Duck comics and stuff like Asterix, Tintin, Lucky Luke and various manga are popular too.

What about the colonization of the Congo? A lot of Congolese people suffered and got torture under King leopolds orders. The King of Belgium was a sick man. This movie is mostly about how Tarzan saved the Congo from slavery and King leopold massive murders (for all the ressources found in Congo). In the movie Tarzan basically saved the Congo (is reality it wasn't true). In reality it was Samuel Jackson character that actually help Leopold lose his "private property of the Congo".
Knowing the true history I found the movie extremely saddening. The part with elephants was moving, i felt human beings are such a plague on this earth, the colonial greed is overwhelming sometimes.
