  • Discover the magic of creating a stunning pure white cement candle jar in record time! With Hydrostone plaster (made from gypsum cement), you can achieve a super-fast setting, demolding your candle jar in just 30 minutes. Let me guide you through the straightforward process, from start to finish, making your candle-making journey both efficient and captivating. Embrace the speed and beauty of Hydrostone as we create a pure white candle jar masterpiece together!
    Also, if you are using hydrostone plaster for your candle jars here are some things to know. Hydrostone has a 3 to 1 ratio and it is always better to slowly add the hydrostone to the water and not the other way around. In addition, waiting 5 minutes or so for a dry bed lake effect is another best practice when using hydrostone.
    FYI, I used the word cement a few times in the video. The reality is Hydrostone is a plaster derived from gypsum cement. In the grand scheme of things it really doesn't matter but I thought it should be stated here for any people who love to educate me unsolicitedly.

    Really love and appreciate your videos!! You're so great! It makes my crafting less stressful and also more fun! I've been working with ultracal, and I'm eyeing hydrostone. I may use both depending on what I'm making and the look that I want to achieve. One of my goals is to find a good sealer that won't cause any staining from candle wax or water. Good luck to me! lol!

    Love this!!! I've been using hydrostone. One thing i have discovered is it needs more coats of sealant (maybe the one I'm using) because it seems to be more microporous (sp) than CA.

    • @upvibecandle
      @upvibecandle  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Exactly. I discovered that as well. I will say that concrete sealants are for concrete and so we need to find one dedicated for plaster. Earth Safe Finishes works but it needs more coats. Eventually I will look to find one that works more specifically for plaster but for now ESF is the one.

      @@upvibecandle I use the eco advance and have found 4 dips so far works. I've discovered leaving the jars submerged until no more air bubbles rise to the surface works great. And you can ever so slightly hear the hissing of the air bubbles releasing from the vessel too. Once no more hissing and no more air bubbles I take out and let dry for the next dip.

      @@keymarieharlii unfortunately it didn't pass the water test so what I do now is dip a couple times so it seeps into the hydrostone because I like the natural stone look on the outside of the vessel and then I put like 3 coats of earth safe sealer/preserver on the insides.....sounds tedious I know.but it's the look I prefer for my vessels, a more rustic natural look

    i need help!!! i've watched almost all of ur videos and ur one of the reason why i started working on concrete jar cuz i loved it and i have so much fun making this jars. but i live in Ethiopia,Addis ababa and the type of cement we have are far from what u guys have in terms of quality, and so the drying process takes about 12-24 hours to dry and demold for cement and hydro stone takes even more, why is that? can i do something to make this process faster?

    • @upvibecandle
      @upvibecandle  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wow watching all the way from Ethiopia. Awesome... I tell this to people all the time... not all cement, sand, plaster and water are the same. There are differences for many reasons. Reasons such as: regulatory standards, market preferences, cultural influences, marketing strategies, practical considerations. intellectual property rights and competition-driven variations. The best thing to do is change one product if you have the opportunity to do so and see how that goes. If not then, during the waiting period find something else more productive to do in your business. For ex: a social media presence. Hope that helps.
