Finally, I was questioning why catch-up was off in a random public lobby (since it never normally is). I wasn't saying I wanted it on. We never race with catch-up or slipstream in the regular races I do.

I remember not too long ago someone tried to pit maneuver me while on a highway race. I think I was driving the x80 and they caught up to me using slipstream. I could tell what was coming though, so at the very last second I tapped my brakes and they ended up pit maneuvering themselves on the front of my car as they crossed in front of me. Probably the most accomplished I've felt during a GTA race. I ended up taking 1st in that race.

Randoms do it all the time, for one of three reasons: 1) In the words of Nos, "they're bad", 2) They don't realise how much of an impact it makes/they always just leave it on, 3) [see video ^]

I only ever had catch up on when I was shit and couldn't win, I got good and don't want it because I'm usually in top 3
Milky Career I leave it on because I like a challenge. Not much fun if everyone else is minutes behind me and I'm not having to work for my victory.

Every race I was in yesterday, had 2 or 3 scumbags driving backwards or sitting at chokepoints to wreck everyone. Imo, that is a serious patch Rockstar needs to make.

Gemaera I've been fighting for 1st place with this other player recently, and just as I was about to pass them they purposely drove straight into me and knocked us both off the track. Why would you do that? Lol that childish mindset of "If I can't win you can't either!" I ended up in 3rd place. It's annoying as hell lol

This mode is fun if you play with friends/crew and set the rule for no pit maneuver.Otherwise, Hotring is the purest form of cancer.

Anthony Molina non contact is so boring on hotring though... I know boring is better than being in a lobby with 29 scumbags who only know how to ram, but in the right lobby it's really exciting with contact. Being able to predict mass (accidental, not ramming) crashes and maneuver through/avoid them is part of the whole NASCAR thing. (And very satisfying imo)
It turns into Forza 7.
That's why I race in ghost mode with strangers.

You really have to do these races with a friend. If somebody hits or tries to spin your friend twice in the race, then just go full insane on Them in the last 2 laps

I had something like this happen the last time I tried doing one of these, and when I caught up to the guy, I didn't even spin him out, just passed him and kept going, perfecting my line for lap after lap until I won by nearly 12 seconds.

Yea I came in 6th one time with a full lobby, first at one point but then got maneuvered.
i find them frustrating because they're usually full of ramming bellends, the only reason i am playing them is the double points/money. i find only brief moments it gets exciting when you slipstream right to the front 9until some bellend rams you)

Catchup is bad because it slows down the players vehicle in 1st place and takes away horsepower then gives it to the cars which are behind like 4th and that lot. It stops you getting up hills.
not sure about the second part of it. No one is boosted
that's explained by the slowdown of the 1st. If others was boosted you would get much more hotlaps when you are far from 1st.
Catchup dosent slow down the person in first, just gives a boost to the others.
Roarore88 it really does u listen to the revs of the car in comparison to when its non contact as an example. Also check and compare the lap times for proof too am usually over 5 seconds a lap faster when catchup is off

Vin Master Catch-up if it is on makes the first place racer drive slower, so that racers behind him catch up. If you ever want a soiled race turn catch-up off.

When I played Forza Horizon Infected, I've learned a neat trick. When someone gets close to you, break a little so that whoever is trying to bump you swerves straight into a wall. It's pretty funny. Especially in Infected, when you're the last player and many drivers are chasing you, specifically the fast ones, slam on the breaks and turn, they'll whizz right by you.
