Have you tried the Faber Castell Essentio ball point in the Hobonichi? Thanks!
The Faber-Castell Essentio Ballpoint Pen writes well in the Hobonichi! In general, ballpoint pens write smoothly in Hobonichi planners with little showthrough.
I love using a pilot hi-Tec-c 0.25 in my Hobonichi Avec and Weeks... it write so smoothly and doesn’t smear. However, I can’t seem to find a highlighter that doesn’t smear with it.
Try a Sharpie Gel Highlighter. It's like wax, but a lot softer. It doesn't interact with ink of any kind that I've seen. I even use it over ink-jet printed pages that I've created. And they always smear. JetPens sells Staedtler and Ohto gel highlighters but I don't know anything about those.

2:34 In fairness, bleeding is just not a thing with tomoe river paper unless you really force it to do that. I have tried alcohol-based marker even.
