Actually remember seeing him as contestant on the show. Dad laughed harder than me. Then I saw him on Rio Bravo. His performance on You Bet Your Life was seen and made him a star. Recently found out one of my most favorite actors, Clifton Collins Jr. is his grandson. Wow! Blown away and really made my day. Also very much enjoyed seeing Pedro's brother in movies. Good bloodline, Clifton.
You have that natural talent Clifton just like your grandpa! Thank you for sharing! Your grandpa seemed to be one of the few people that made Groucho laugh and caught him off guard!
I remember seeing a rerun of this as a kid. I said; "Dad, that's Carlos from Rio Bravo!!!" He had us both laughing hard watching this. When you can stand toe to toe with Groucho you know you're good.
You rock! Thats too sweet, thank you! Its always a real joy to be able to share the laughter that I grew up with in my family, now you to are laughing and smiling! ;)
Pedro first came to my attention in a western called "Wings of the Hawk" starring Van Heflin and Julie Adams. I was curious about Pedro because his character was so sweet and charming, and the acting was so natural. I've met many people like this of different races, and when you really get to know them, you simply just see them as another human being, and sitting and talking with them you realize how much we as a human race have in common: the desire to bond with others, make each other laugh, and really touch the soul. This type of comedy is a gift because it is filled with heart. I could imagine him sitting on his porch and entertaining all the kids just like some of the other older men and women I've met whose spirits still live long after they are gone from our earth.
I grew up in Willcox Arizona, and he'd always show up it seemed like for our school right at Rex Allen Days... He was the best part of those assemblies.
Aww.. Such a sweet video of your Grandpa, and the fact he met his love in here in San Antonio, beautiful..🥰🥰 Always a fan, and enjoy your work Clifton!!
He was also in "The Sheepman" with Glenn Ford, if I'm not mistaken. He was fantastic. And Groucho knew exactly how to interview him to show all his talent. Two great pros at work.
Thank you so much for telling me about this video, Clifton. I couldn't wait to get home and see it after speaking with you tonight. Absolutely classic! Such a natural talent that obviously runs in your family. Next: Rio Grande!
Hi Primo - I am sorry we haven't met but we share a Tia (Virginia) and many other Garcia/Gonzalez relatives in San Antonio. Thanks for posting these. Pete Haney brought some clips to the last Garcia reunion and we all belly laughed! It's so wonderful the family had an impact on early Mex-Am theater with La Carpa Garcia and later, TV/film with Pedro's great work and of course your stellar career in Hollywood! I applaud your efforts to revere and advance Hispanics in film! --Monica Garcia Brooks
I would give anything to have sit next to him and hear his life stories. Man Clifton u should do some tube on some of his stories I know I would love to hear them
I was watching a Daffy Duck cartoon from 1966 titled A Taste of Catnip and immediately recognized Pedro's voice as the doctor. I only knew him from Rio Bravo but he was unmistakable.
Cliff, your Grandpa's appearance was probably THE most remembered appearance by ANYONE in all the years of this long-lived program. I remember hearing The Duke talk about him with fondness a long time ago. Is it true he started with one house and ended up owning the entire neighborhood?
America needs more men like your grandfather. I always liked him in the movie. This clip had me laughing my butt off. He reminds me of the spanish version of Don Knotts. Same nervous mannerisms and yet not breaking out laughing when bringing down the house.
Man that is hilarious. I believe it's good acting too because he looked like he was kind of nervous and innocent . I know he was putting on the show. A good one. Talented Family.
@ciao4689 it's fans like yourself that makes what we do all worth while. Thank you for making me smile and warming my heart with that one! Have a great holliday!
He was born in 1925 and started doing comedy in 1932, that's right, that means he would have been 7 years old. One of the reasons he couldn't read. Was always out performing to make money to feed his 9 brothers and sister, who were also part of the entertainment troupe.
Hello Cousin. Pedro and my Dad were 1st cousins. Always wanted to meet him but I was so young. The Gonzales family is very talented and goes back to our Great Grandfather Soledad and his circus entertainment days. Abilene TX and San Antonio true!!! Hope we meet one day. Stay cool cuz.
You know, when I first saw you in a film I thought you looked familar and now I know why. I also think its kind of funny because I used to watch all these movies with your grandpa like rio bravo and the high and the mighty with my grandpa as a kid, now I'm watching movies with my own family that star you.
i like your grandpa! aaaaand i would have given everything to have my grandpa meet groucho so i could go like; yay that's my grandpa groucho is making fun off -because that's what groucho did; making fun of people without ever really offending anyone.. what an amazing man :D

hey, i just saw PGG in an episode of I dream of Jeannie. They were doing a tribute to recently deceased Larry Hagman/ Major Nelson & his next door neighbor was Pedro on a riding lawnmower that didn't work. Mjr Nelson had Jeannie's power for a day & told Pedro his lawnmower would be faster than a car. You guessed it,Pedro is riding the lawnmower at blistering speeds[film speed up] thru fences, bushes, sidewalk &ppl jumping out the way, went over a open manhole cover & sucked off a workers toupee!
@SlovakSpazz he didn't teach me those moves, but he did get me and my cousin tap dancing at the age of 7. Check out DEEZ BLUES video I also shot n directed. Theres a lil hoofing in that, but nothing like grandpa! Thanks for that !
@LEIMALOCCA Actually if you watch the entire segment with Mr. Gonzalez we see Groucho laugh at least twice. The entire thing is on TH-cam at /watch?v=C0mucg6nN_g

You look so much like your grandfather! And his comedic timing is excellent. I’m happy he supported your career choice.
Wow ! That was your grandpa ? ! He was a HUGE hit on that Show. You can tell that Groucho loved his little act. Just GREAT !
I remember seeing a rerun of this as a kid. I said; "Dad, that's Carlos from Rio Bravo!!!" He had us both laughing hard watching this. When you can stand toe to toe with Groucho you know you're good.

This is the funniest episode of the enttire show's run
There's never been anyone like, or better than, the great, beloved comic treasure Pedro Gonzalez Gonzalez.

This is great. So funny and he went on to become an actor in many movies. Small parts but memorable.
Loved it!! The look he did at 0:27 is sort of the same look my husband does and we've only been married for 7 years.
I'd have married him! What a total sweetheart.
impeccable comedy timing😂

You look exactly like him!!! That was so awesome! Would love to see you dance like that sometime. Thanks for posting. :)
I read somewhere this guy was a Mexican Comic in the 50's.
Groucho should have given him orchestra-accompaniment and let him sing it fully .
You know, when I first saw you in a film I thought you looked familar and now I know why. I also think its kind of funny because I used to watch all these movies with your grandpa like rio bravo and the high and the mighty with my grandpa as a kid, now I'm watching movies with my own family that star you.

Yo soy Jose Jimenez.
I guess the politically correct would say laughing at Pedro G-G was racist, but hey, the guy was just a funny comedian.
Well, if his grandson Clifton isn't objecting, who cares what the rest of the world thinks?
@sjfarrell1981 hahaha sweet !
