    The strategy in vanguard isn't to take as little damage as possible, but just make sure you can take the damage without losing. Taking damage becomes a resource to activate your effects. The tutorial is most likely scripted to make you lose, seeing as it gives the opponent an Overtrigger.

      It’s also about strategizing when to take the damage like if you need to counter blast a bit on the next turn take the damage but if you don’t and can guard guard it

      @@benl2662 I usually don't focus on guarding until I'm at 3-4 damage really. Because at that point I don't know if my opponent is going to get a miracle crit. As I've done with Phantom blaster dragon with 4 crit. lol.

    Vanguard does have a bit of a learning curve since there's a fair amount of terminology to it and because it is very different to other TCGs you don't quite have a TCG you can make an immediate comparison to for explaining mechanics, but once you get the hang of the game mechanics it is quite straightforward with still a lot of room for strategy and decision making.

    vanguard honestly my favorite card game. Doesnt usually have massive walls of text, simple mechanics and easy to learn, and anyone can pick it up pretty easily. Also has some really nice art, as well as a decent anime (referring to overdress, not the other vanguard anime)

    As much as I love seeing people play Vanguard for the first time, it gets pretty frustrating when people play the tutorial only to skip over the text that explains what is happening. I get that you play the game your own way but it's the tutorial. Hope to see more of Vanguard content though, I haven't touched any of Bushiroad's Vanguard games but this one seems promising.

    • @KushiKush
      @KushiKush  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching, sorry about skipping the initial text. Vanguard dream days looks cool. It's just a bit pricey for me 70$. So I am waiting for it to go on sale for maybe 30 or 20, to pick up. Hopefully soon :)

    Taking damage in vanguard is different than Yu-Gi-Oh. In Yu-Gi-Oh, you would want to avoid taking damage so you can avoid losing or giving your opponents the advantage.But in vanguard, taking damage can benefit you, cards in the damage zone can be used as costs for card effects, and of course, don't always let the opponent hit you, sometimes you need to know when you want to guard or not

    This game is like a yugioh tag force type of game, it’s got a story to facilitate the game. The game itself is fairly simple and pmuch everything is handled by the cards itself. It’s nice to see people try the game.

    • @randomanimefan1000
      @randomanimefan1000 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@KushiKush Generally, all decks in vanguard use damage the same way, as a cost to activate effects ("skills" to use the vanguard terminology).
      The factor seperating good decks and bad decks is usually just, how much they get out of their counter blast, how easily they are able to farm advantage, how quickly and effectively can they get to their win con, and how effective and consistent is their win con at knocking the opponent to 6.

      There is actually a really good example of understanding damage timing in a recent ish episode of the anime
      Here, the purple haired player knew that the girl was playing a very aggressive but piece reliant aggro deck that uses damage to gain advantage a gather pieces. So he delibrately, kept her damage low at the start to prevent her from gaining too much advantage at the very start and kep his damage low to act as a buffer and let him sponge more hits at the latter half of the game.
      By the end of the game, even though the difference on damage and handsize isn't huge, it is clear that purple hair guy dominated his opponent, since he had full control over the momentum for the whole game

    This game is easy to learn. Back then I learned the game through the anime. In Yu-Gi-Oh that's not possible since the anime has a lot of BS on it, you will just learn how to make up cards like Yugi and Yusei

    Over trigger is so stupid. 100 millions aahahah. In vanguard I don't remember such singh... why 100? Maybe 50k or 100k and no draw that's good

    • @ScoptOriginal
      @ScoptOriginal ปีที่แล้ว +4

      yeah, Over Trigger caused quite an uproar when it was introduced lol. It basically just guarantees one free damage or a perfect defense. At 50k shield it's even good if you draw it. But you're usually more excited about the extra effect given to your specific nation than just getting the trigger effects, and once you use it once it's completely deleted from the game, not even in the bind zone, so it's not quite as game breaking as it first appeared. The 100 million was intended to be ridiculous so that it's obvious no other card can beat it. except for two Over triggers themselves, one gives you 100 million twice, and another gives you 100 million then doubles all power and critical

    Listen two card games is already enough. You should first learn mtg then vanguard.
    Like all the names of color combinations
    What stax and edict and tutor means.
    How you can hold priority
    What ping,shock,check dual,triome,boune and fetch lands are.
    And stuff like cycles and the color pie are
    I am not a professional mtg player but I think you don't know any of these terms so you should check the mana logses
    ,,mtg jargon and terms,, TH-cam video.
    I hope this comment helps you get more into the game of magic.
