He built the team from scratch and it’s not just about cultivating the players but about cultivating the belief and maximizing the ability of players in certain slots. He forced Dravid to keep, made Sehwag open in tests, sacrificed his own opening slot for Tendulkar and Sehwag and backed youngsters. A captain like Ganguly will forever be eternal in the annals of Indian cricket because he was the first captain to actually make it a team game and compete with bullies on an actual ground, despite having far fewer resources compared to the current day entitled crybabies. What a legend!
