Once Zimbabwe was a great team...but political turmoil destroyed both the country and the team.

Yes, Douglas Hondo, Henry Olonga and Heath Streak could have been an excellent fast bowling trio. In fact, they had a brilliant set of match winners throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. It was Mugabe and Mugabe only, who destroyed the country's cricketing infrastructures single-handedly. Otherwise, they could have been as good as South Africa by now.

They were still minnows. Won four test matches against recognized opposition during their so call strong period and 3 ODI series against recognized opposition. I am counting the period from 1992 to 2003 which most people remember them being strong. I can clearly remember Tony Greg and Richie Benaurd openly saying on TV they are minnows.

2 things to learn from here.
    1) Be on ground and control your nerves even if you achieve big things.(Olonga)
    2) Even if you fail don't be discouraged. Work on it and success is yours.(Sachin)
Note: learn from past mistakes (Olonga)

It is still best batting i have ever seen.
No body ever replaced sachin in my mind not even once.
There was no one and there is no one like him.
He played against the most brutal and successful bowlers of history.
How many Donald, brett lee, wasim akram, Shoaib akhtar, Macgra, Shane warne, Muttaiya, Ambrose, Chaminda, Waqar yonus, Demin flamingo and many other top bowlers of that era we have today ?
I think not even one bowler like them we have today.
He scored hundred centuries and more than 9 times got out on 90 plus score.
That too in that brutal era of top bowlers and with more tough field rules.
It really hurts to believe he is not playing anymore though many years have passed., 😭

When he retired in 2012, I lost interest in watching live cricket enthusiastically, nowadays, I tend to "support" the underdogs in Indian cricket. But yeah, it's no longer fun. Only a few matches got me excited, like the Australia test series and the England series before the freak break that ducked the momentum of the team.

I remember watching both matches as a kid. I always thought Sachin was dominating due to Henery getting him out like that. No Sachin was dominating because he knew he was way better than that. Henry Olonga should be an inspiration. Hard working whilst everything was pitched against him and to perform like that, it is no small feat. I respect the Bowler in Henry, also I hear he is an amazing human.

20's kid should watch that match highlights and think twice about who's the boss of this business. No one even close to him when it comes to batting. So many people think sehwag was the most dangerous batsman oh man those people never watched Sachin and his strike rate.
