Another excellent reaction. MJ re recorded his vocals after he heard Janet's vocals. She sounded passionate and angry, so MJ injected some fire into his and this was the final result. A lot of people say these were his angry years, but he needed to do these songs. Even if it was for his own sanity. Obviously Janet felt the same so they created this classic.
He re-recorded the vocal bc he felt flyte time studios quality sounded better, not bc of how passionate she sounded. He even told her to sound angry in the documentary before they even had the song written.
I LOVE this duet so much. You can TELL Michael was pissed off when he and Janet released this song because of the fact that he cussed in the lyrics. He was thoroughly pissed off by the media slandering him at every opportunity.
100% - and they haven't stopped. That's why we must be strong and fight back - with 'Unity' as that is unbreakable! Have a wonderful weekend. Psyche 🙋🏽♀️ 🌹 😊
Another great reaction from you Psyche🙌. We can only imagine what their reality was being the most famous people on the planet and relentlessly hounded, pursued, and lied about. This 7 million dollar video was light years ahead of its time and Michael fought hard for what he wanted and I am glad he won🎶💯
Just amazing. I only just recently watched the Janet Jackson documentary (5 years in the making - in Janet’s own words .. very interesting insight to this wonderful & talented woman) it’s said this video was around the 7 million dollar mark to make! Regardless of the price, so we’ll executed and the two together amazing! Stay well. Stay safe and like you said, keep dancing. ✨🤍
MJ was always careful of his language cause of children who looked up to him but this time HE WAS PISSED! At the tabloid media junk and rightfully so Long Live The King Of Music Forever Truly The Greatest Music Artist To Ever Live!🤬😤👊🏽👑🔥💯
I also think that given all of the new shocking information about the entertainment industry these lyrics take on a whole new meaning,at least for me anyway. “You're sellin' out souls but I, I care about mine”
You have to keep in mind that this was recorded when Janet was arguably the hottest star on earth. It came out in 1996. She justed signed a record breaking $80 million dolar contract whith Virgin. Michael, on the other side, was in one of his career lows, after the child molestation cases. As the story goes, he called her (it was the second time he did) to ask her to record a song together. She chose two songs (this one and Runaway) he chose thos one. She also chose the producers (Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, her recording team) and the video Producer (Mark Romanek). It was a way of her to help him in the middle of the process
Yaaasss!!! Fantastic song and video. 7 million dollar price tag. Janet refused to do a duet with Michael for a very long time because she wanted to be successful in her own right and known for her own music. Mission accomplished! Great reaction.
Love the reaction. The only critique I have is your comment about Janet "deserving" the chance to work with him on this. Believe it or not, at the time it was actually quite the opposite. Michael wanted to work w her years before this but she didn't want to be seen as riding coattails. When Michael experienced a string of legal trouble and bad publicity it was Janet using her credibility and star power to work with him to create spectacle that could drown out the negative press and launch the new album on a positive note. This project was support and solidarity from Janet.
Hello teepeeNC - thank you very much for your comments - much appreciated, and beautifully written I must add. All you say is absolutely correct, however, my point still stands. I will explain. The Jackson family are many and Michael did not work with any other member on a one to one basis from my knowledge (notwithstanding 3T as they're a group). I believe that if the family had said let's do something together during his bad times he would have said no. However, he adored Janet as they were very close and she, in my opinion worked extremely hard to get where she did and he appreciated that fact - and your facts above are indeed correct. So that said she was more 'deserving' of working with him than any other member of the family because she was the one who was always close to him from the very beginning of her life. So it wasn't meant that she was unworthy, it actually means she was more worthy than the others. I hope that makes more sense. I actually won VIP tickets to his concert back in the 90s as I won a major prize on a big Radio station. My partner at the time fell down the stairs in disbelief🤦🏽♀️. It was in the UK so I was very lucky! I hope to interview Janet one day. Much blessings - Psyche 🌹

You should react to Michael Jackson's song "You Are My Life"
Why you look sad?😭
