Fantastic collection of pics, across times and places. I recognise Brisbane Street, Launceston, which has lost a lot of its iron lace and verandahs. Also, intriguing to see Coogee with bare hills and sprinklings of trees.
@14.29 I remember crossing the gundagai road bridge when making the trip back to Holbrook in 1961, we kids used to be put on a mattress in the back of the FC Holden blue on blue station wagon and because the planks on the road bridge were laid across the bridge, we would all be woken up with a start as the tyres made the noisiest clack clack clack noise and as the bridge deck was sagging in between the piers the car would violently bounce up and down, I think my father would drive just a bit faster to ad to the bounce as us kids loved it. In the photo you can see the cross ways planking.
I have been to more than a few of the eastern state towns & villages depicted in these pictures. The Moss vale station still looked much the same the last time I saw it. The progress made in less than 100 years from when many of these places were established is amazing. Remembering that many hamlets, villages & towns were not begun until after the 1830's, to see such fine stone & brick buildings simply meant that many a worker must have worked long hours & many days to achieve what they did. We must remember that when Australia went to war in 1914, the national population was not a lot more than four million.
@andycam4645 That makes sense. A quick google search showed a few mentions of the elephant. Also showed that a couple of elephants went on a rampage in 1947!
Great to be able to look back, thanks for sharing 😊
Great variety of photos from across the country.. was great to view them all.
Thanks for the videos. Very enjoyable ❤
Glad you like them!. Thanks
Interesting early developments of the towns and villages

Thank you. It's great to walk around the streets in Launceston and have a look at the older style buildings with iron lace and those verandahs.
Great, many stories from these towns. 👍

Thanks so much for sharing. It would have been a real experience going over the planks on those old road bridges. Such great memories 😊

Thanks so much for all these videos 😊 and some repeats as we didn't get to see all the images on the early ones 👍
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed the small changes.
Wonderful steam rail heritage
I never imagined I'd see a cart being pulled by an ELEPHANT down the streets of Hobart (3:38).
Was he 'borrowed' from the Zoo in a flood, I wonder?

Our history. 🇦🇺
I have heard something about the Qantas Diana early flights
3:37 the elephant pulling the wagon on a flooded road of all places Hobart, I guess the logic was that elephant has a snorkel..
@ 13:32 Toowoomba Qld 1940, this picture would be of the very late 1940's, maybe even 1950. JFYI.
Not an Indian in sight, refreshing
ok
thanks
