Great video! Just stumbled upon one of your skin microbiome vids from 2 years ago, glad to see you uploaded today also! Trying to hopefully get rid of my eczema and other skin issues by fixing my microbiome.

Hi Dr, I don’t use makeup and I have started to clean my face just with water and every other day I use manuka honey as face wash, do you think this is a good natural way to clean your face? Thanks

My favorite Brand that has all these in is Eminence. The funny thing is prebiotics are so cheap, one can just buy inulin and fos, mix them with water, and spray. You only have postbiotics in skincare because you don't have probiotics. If you apply probiotics, they would anyway secrete these substances. But I think some companies do provide the probiotics separately. Though one can buy regular ones. At 42, I used to have amazing skin and then i had to take some ear antibiotics. It wiped off my scalp and skin microbiome. Scalp microbiome I was able to recover but skin microbiome was not. That's when i had to start looking into skin prebiotics/probiotics. The best one is apricot calendula from eminence. I presume that is from flax seed. Then they have some things with lysate and with inul and fos. For hair I use Calia. It has zero chemicals. Like I said, to have nice skin microbiome it's important to not use harsh shampoo.

Dr.Bowe, have you heard of malassizia folliculitis acne? If so, can you make a video about it one day?

Im a big fan of microbiology. I think the biggest skin care mistake people do is totally different. The lady was right, you want to leave the oils on the skin because bacterias need that food. The number one mistake is in the shampoo. all that shampoo with the sulfates fall on the skin and not only wipe off the oil but also kill the bacterias.

Hi! I have a very reactive skin. I have tested so much...I especially react more to screens aswell after washing and moisturizing which ofc is a hassle nowadays. I have dry, very coarse skin with keratosis pilaris and I flake. So about once a week I have to use some kind of peel. I use Kanebo enzyme peel plus a sponge to rub off the flakes. I understand that this disturbs the microbiome but what to do when having coarse and flaking skin???? During the pandemic I hardly touched my skin and it was less sensitive, BUT with a rough texture, not pretty especially if I would put makeup on. How to exfoliate without destroying the microbiome? Doesn't seem possible! I was also surprised that you said that acids could be used, like retinol and vit C. How is it that they don't destroy the microbiome? I have never been able to use any kind of acid, I'm too sensitive to even the most gentle acid. So the Kanebo enzyme peeling is the one I have tolerated the best but it still leaves me sensitive. I want to use as natural, unscented products as possible but I don't tolerate natural products either. I have tried pure oils and even animal fats on my skin; but I just get more reactive. Help!🤪🙏🌺

What kind of topical treatment would you suggest to replace benzoyl peroxide ? Usually the few pimples I get are pretty bad so I use BP as a spot treatment 😞 Within the last few years I have some severe impetigo infections so currently, I'm trying to repair my good bacteria with a probiotic cream.

Spore based solutions would be amazing. I got spore based probiotics from my Chinese doctor to take internally. They’re not the living organisms, they’re the seeds.

I washed my face extremely often because of the masks. It was about 2 years ago that I got a rash and then acne on my entire face and neck, I never had any breakouts until I was 18. Can I use a baby cleansing lotion/ cream to wash my face? A soap free one so it’s super gentle :)

do you need to use any? i dont. just wash with green tea. Green tea is not prebiotic but prebiotic-like food. Your face will change in a couple of months. If not, i would use eminence. best ones i have found.

Is exfoliating with a loofa bad for your whole body or just the face? what about post waxing skin-care? I wax my legs because I find shaving to be really irritating to my skin and my esthetician always says I need to exfoliate as often as possible to avoid ingrown hairs

If the skin microbiome is over, can they become it again?

I think what you are asking is how we can heal the skin microbiome if we have disrupted and compromised its health. So, the answer is yes!!
Here are some basic do’s and don’ts for a healthy microbiome, and in turn, a healthy skin barrier!
✨DO: Streamline your regimen. Less is more!
✨DO: Add nourishing products with pre- pro- and post-biotics that support a healthy microbiome
✨Avoid alkaline products that disrupt your skin's healthy pH (use pH testing strips at home)
✨ Avoid toners with drying alcohols on the face
✨ Avoid gritty, manual scrubs on the face
✨ Avoid harsh cleansers with SLS and SLES

bacterias are good at surviving. Even if a couple survive from each species, they would grow again.

Do skin microbiomes in a newborn start to form before birth?

    • @nonenone6357
      @nonenone6357 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

yes, when they come through the birth canal, they go through the vagina and ingest it. If they were born through c-section, they get the bacterias from hospital. But even these children have a chance later as they get bacteria from mother through breast feeding.
