I recently loss my 19 year old daughter and it truly hurts when people you considered close friends don’t show any support. Not a phone call, a letter, flowers, or simply stop by. I understand people do not know what to say, I don’t either, the pain is too much to bear alone but we can sit and be quiet together. I have never felt so alone and so disappointed.

What Brooke has gone through , is probably one of the hardest things a parent will ever go through . But I think people need to adjust having expectations of other people . Brooke expected something that Jackie clearly couldn't or didn't want to give . That's why sometimes it's better not to have expectations. Because more often then not , people will disappoint you

As a woman who had lost her only child, her son and husband in a horrific motorcycle accident due to a drunk driver...I intimately know loss and grief. It's a part of my existence now and no one knows what to say because there are no words for it. Its a nameless ugly emotion that ripples throughout everyone. Showing up, hugging, crying, giving a tree to plant, bring food, praying with us...all of that helps more than you can imagine. But what hurts, so much, and makes us insane is when nothing is said or done. It's so selfish to say "I didn't know what to say" like it happened to you.

I have a question. I have not been in the situation where I’ve really needed to show up for someone like this, but I really can imagine myself being so anxious about saying the wrong thing, or nervous that sending another text is going to be over whelming, or thinking that showing up to see you in that grief is going to be too much for me to handle and I’ll break and start crying and make it worse on you, or I won’t know what to say and just look at you and make you think I don’t care, or that the thing you might need most is space, that I can see myself not reaching out. I
I hear you and now understand how that can come across to someone grieving. But, that doesn’t mean that I now know what to say. I’m not trying to defend Jackie, but I just haven’t seen a single person acknowledge that a person could genuinely be so nervous about saying the wrong thing or just feel so out of their depth with trying to help in a situation, that they don’t do anything.
Well, tbh jackie said she did call for her, but a family member answered. N yes, it's hard for brooke, but like Jackie said, it's a touchy subject. When others are dealing with a loss, there are some ppl who will be under u while u grieve, and there are others that give u space when u grieve. Yk, she at least did try to reach u.

I recently lost my bestfriend due to cancer and I’m grieving still. I don’t want anyone around me half the time when I am dealing with my emotions. Nobody knows how to deal with death and Brooke is hurting. She is projecting her anger to Jackie.

I'm no Jackie fan by far, but she made several attempts to apologize and reach out to the family. I think Brooke forgot about the time they got physical. How close can you be with someone you attacked in the past? I can understand why Jackie may have been hesitant reaching out to Brooke during that time. I honestly didn't want ppl around me asking questions and saying I'm sorry a hundred thousand times.. I didn't get mad at my family & friends because they wasn't in my face she was just trying to give her time to heal and that's ok.

Everyone deals with death differently, and each death differently. It’s difficult to know exactly what someone needs. When my mother transitioned, I just needed to be alone for a while, and not have to answer a bunch of questions and trying to be strong so supporters won’t be upset. These ladies are merely coworkers, it’s quite apparent they aren’t really friends. It’s hard to know what a person needs in that situation, when you are not really friends. Sometimes these things stir up past trauma in your own life making it even harder to deal with. She tried, and she apologized. I think one day Brooke will be able to forgive her.
A simple text, bouquet of flowers, or card would have helped. I personally like to be left alone when I’m grieving, but not acknowledging the death of my child while considering yourself my friend is unforgivable.
