Rush 2049 Legacy Edition is a work-in-progress conversion mod for the Gamecube port of Rush 2049 available on Midway Arcade Treasures 3. It is currently playable on Wii, Wii U, and Dolphin Emulator. DC/Xbox/PS2 versions are not planned.
Rush 2049 has many reworked and new features, most of which are shown in this video. Many of these features are inspired by the arcade version.
- All cheats unlocked from as soon as you start the game; no need to grind miles for optimal car parts
- New Main Menu textures and fonts
- 4 track retextured: Morning, Noon, Sunset, Oasis (with more planned)
- New paintjobs for several cars; many taken from the arcade game with some brand new ones.
- New rims inspired by Arcade 2049, and previous Rush games
- Many renames for tracks, cars, parts, etc.
- Reworked soundtrack. A full overhaul is planned for the next update
- Car order changed to match the order in Rush 2049 Special Edition
- Misc textures like particles and shadows redone
- HD texture pack for dolphin in the works

back when racing games were cool and not only let you cut the track, but puts tons of awesome awesome map into their cuts.
It was precisely those unique shortcuts what made this game so addictive. Real shame we don't get them like this anymore.
@@FernandoGT70 As a kid, I'd literally spend hours driving looking for shortcuts and coins. Also, interestingly there was so much extra space that didn't even have a coin or a shortcut, but it was still interesting nonetheless. I don't mind games being tightly designed, but it would be cool if games indulged your sense of curiosity now and then like in this game.

It may be completely unrealistic, but it is the most entertaining racing game I have ever played in my entire life.
I’ve been waiting for this mod, a while ago. Rush 2049 Legacy Edition is the best! The car names are renamed from the arcade, and the Alcatraz track is not included in the console version. Which is okay. I’ll be happy to see more content. :)

Super fans of RUSH in our house here and I've started a little long term pipe dream of learning to code and creating a track(s) based on our state Minnesota. I'm mega inspired. But don't even know where to start. I have a giant list of ideas. Crazy stuff like being able to drive inside the Mall of America (would make a great stunt board too). We play RUSH2 atleast once a week for 20+ years. The game stands the test of time. The thing we love best is hunting for the easter eggs keys, MD cans, stunts and obstacles. No other game holds a candle. Any suggestions? :D
It’s really hard to know where to start if you don’t understand the fundamentals. I’m thankful that I’ve been able to learn from these games, we’re far away from the adding a track though.
This process should be the same for every game but in general you need access to the file system, means to modify the game’s executable code, and means to recompile the game.
GameCube is easy because the filesystem is easy to extract from the disc and recompile. That is not the case for the N64/arcade games sadly. DC might be a similar case to GameCube but I don’t know.
Once you’re at the point of of accessing the file system (it’s quite literally a folder tree with other folders and files) you can start reverse engineering anything in there you don’t know about.
I can explain more in depth if you’d like. Learning how to make Gameshark codes is a good entry point for learning about how the games interact with data.
@@Stevie2049 I mean, I'd love to get my hands on some actual RUSH code and then just edit what I need to. But I know I'll probably be starting from scratch. Are you saying from GameCube you can snatch those codes easily? O.o I've done a little googling because I figure someone out there has probably already grabbed it and maybe would share. I know the track I want to create is going to be pretty heavily Minnesota insider joke and I don't plan on it being played outside my household. But, willing to share if I do actually manage to make something good/cool. I'm the type of person who will go manic on a project and put in some major hours... which I think is kind of necessary for this line of work.
I've been watching a ton of tutorials (mostly Unity) and also some C# 101 things to just start to get a grasp on what I might need to know.
@@brickhaus9147 In the Gamecube Midway Arcade Treasures file system the executable code for 2049 is rushd.dol and the RtR one is rock.dol. Track data is located in a folder called tracks. I don’t think C# or unity will help you with anything unless you translate the machine code to a language of your choice.
Not sure what language the track data is before compiled. You could hypothetically just edit track data for one track as a replacement and not have to edit the .dol in order to add it. Replacing files is the easiest.
Again though it’s not developed enough to the point where it’s accessible so you’ll definitely have to familiarize yourself with the GameCube machine code (it’s an IBM power pc gekko processor) if you want to edit the actual game code.

Nice hack. I don't know if this is necessary to talk about, but I think there should be 8 cars that are racing on the track rather than 6 cars for this hack.

Yeah you can absolutely run it on hardware if you can either get in on a physical disc or with something like GX loader
@@pfmdude You need to patch your game iso with the LE patch, I would recommend waiting until 1.3 as there’s more code changes that make the headache less

in the Game ISO there is a music named ''SPEED'' it's full guitars.
i browsed the game in all sens, used all cheat watched all video, i think that only a team like yours can help me,
Do you know where this music is used in-game ? if however it's used in the game & not, unused.

It goes unused in DC and MAT3 for whatever reason. Wish I had more context, though I think it’s strange that the song is in there to begin with.

I dont know anything about computers……… so how can you play this..??? I think we do have a Wii. Can anyone explain how to play this game..??
You need to have an iso file of the game and patch that iso with the LE patch. This game also does apparently work with a home brewed Wii.

@@Kapojos I would look into hacking your Wii first. The method you’re most likely going to be using if you do decide to do it is called “letterbomb.”

If you mean through Midway Arcade Treasures Deluxe then I highly advise against it as the game isn’t optimized for modern systems and has a lot more problems than the emulated GameCube version. You are free to port anything from my mod including sound effects, textures, codes or whatever else if you so desire but I don’t think it’s worth the effort.
With dolphin-emu (14738 is the recommended version) You get improved sounds, much faster load times, xbox, ps, GameCube controller and keyboard support, dx 11/12 support, free cam, texture pack support, save state support, and gekko cheats, plus general GameCube mod tools work for it.

I don’t exactly know what you’re trying to do so if you clarify I can. This video showcases a mod for dolphin/GameCube. Not Mame/arcade.

@@Adrian-fj3is I do not know what you’re talking about. Mame is an Emulator, Dolphin is an Emulator. They play entirely different games. Mame is not being used in this video, Dolphin is being used.

how did you find out the what arcade car names were
Through the website, although I’ve changed them a bit since this video. Not all of them were given names but the general rule is that they were pretty generic one-word names.
Rocket, Formula One, Tech, Concept, and 70s Muscle/70s are the known names. The two I improvised were Sport (previously GX-2; the main paintjob says “SPORTS” on the side) and Exotic (previously Super GT; it’s the 2049 version of Exotic from SF Rush.)
I have a new code where each paintjob has their own name now which is really neat during gameplay. Tech car can be called Copcar when paintjob 6 is selected, etc.
