I bought a replica of a Chanel brooch for $20 to compare materials etc. The real brooch cost $800 and was made of the exact same materials - brass, synthetic pearls, glass. The other one is a $40 one LYXBAGS Backpack Replica - also works for Compare - I can't find any difference and still use it for the gym
You’re not the only one who feels this way about the so called luxury today. I’ve been feeling this way since the pandemic began when I noticed that Chanel went up on their prices by a lot. Then came having to stand in line to enter the boutiques. It stopped for me in 2020. So I found myself turned off from buying bags and using what I already have.
I think one word sums it up...ACCESS!@ The newer pieces are jus not created equal to those of yesteryear, imo.. They really need to step it up in regards to craftsmanship when some dupes are better made than the original,..js I tend to go for vintage pieces more,because I feel the time creativity & craftsmanship were more prioritized!@
Hey there. I’m not sure if this would fit in the same category but I feel as though what you are saying goes for the same with automobiles. Luxury in my opinion of cars changed around the early 2000s. Automobiles such as Cadillac Eldorado, Buick Riviera, Mercedes-Benz, BMW pride themselves in craftsmanship and quality. When you drove those cars in the 70s, 80s, and 90s there was a sense of pride because you knew you purchased a vehicle that was of high quality, and secondly you drove a car that not anyone could get their hands on. Time was taken when these cars were built, hand stitched interior, the way the suspension felt on the highway when you felt like you rode on a cloud, the quietness of the engine, the superior customer service you received at the service center. Today luxury is defined as how much tech is jammed into to the vehicle with leather interior. That’s all , tech and leather. No pride in the build quality, no pride in the customer service, every car getting recalled. I miss the days when a car was simple and enjoyable. Now it’s complicated computer on wheels. My neighbor just told me that his daughter’s Lexus truck which is only four years old with 60,000 miles on it needs a new water pump. When you don’t take the “time” to craft things it will show itself on the back end.
Great video 😁 Personally I have always tried to buy ethically, so what's recently in the news is shocking & plays on my conscience!!......secondly my friend recently purchased a chanel bag. Horrified that the quality has gone & cheaply made!!!.... Sadly as consumers, we are to blame!!! & the demand for an item " we " the consumer have pushed up the price!!!.....& these big high end companies have got greedy!!!!! We all have a " Luxury Disease " whatever it may be!!! But for me!! I'm bored with it!! .....I look at certain purchases & think omg! Did I really spend that!!....😮 i wish I woke up sooner!!!! 🙄😅😅😅 I wont be buying anymore high end....i dont see the worth anymore!!.... Unless its preloved!! & something I actually want!, As I want the quality & craftsmanship!. Having high end, one has to now think about where you are going & is it safe to wear it out?? Or get mugged for your bag or luxury item!....so do you just keep your bags in the house collecting dust?? As for counterfeit goods, personally if it's not the real thing I dont want it!!...I will do without!....than carry a fake!! Or support illegal gang trade My priorities have shifted, I'm just enjoying life, I just enjoy wearing what I like, regardless of the designer & supporting local handcrafted goods, from local ethical designers & small family traditional companies, which are limited edition or one offs.......that makes me feel good, that I'm supporting small independent businesses & I love my items more!!! I'm also spending my well earned money now on experiences, holidays, etc One thought....we come into this world with nothing & go out this world with nothing! A friend of mine passed away, her family disposed of everything! & had a house clearance!!....everything she loved, but meant nothing to her family, they didnt understand the value of her collections. 😮😳 This made me truly rethink about everything I have & im simplifying my life!!....I cant wear all my bags at once!!....so why do I have them all??!! ......I'm seriously down sizing my handbag collection!!! The real luxury we have is HEALTH!!! & our loved ones Because without it we have nothing!!! ❤🙏 Thank you for a great video, I think the whole world & consumers are starting to really think......do we need it?! All these luxury houses has been getting away with their treatment of their employees cheap labor and 500% mark up never was worth those prices
