    16:48 The Burlington Arcade is like a hidden gem adorned with Christmas decorations! 😍 It was nice to see Central London during the daytime, despite the rain. This was an enjoyable and informative walk with Jess, and cool to know she's a former New Yorker living in London. 😃 Thank you for sharing this stroll with Jess, AK! 🤗🎄

    Very nice walk with Jess despite raining cats and dogs. It's been quite a while since i've been to Soho.During the 60's there was a lot of cracking down on crime there, it's a much better place nowadays.

    55 Fahrenheit: is that warm? for November? Loved seeing this!

    • @AM-dz2sh
      @AM-dz2sh ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, November is typically 51 - 62 Fahrenheit. But it is the month that the grey skies hit and rain appears :(
      December is drier and then grey and wet again in Jan/Feb.
      I love when March comes around, with all the green and flowers!!!

    so the last time I was there, in 2019, behind the pretty neon lights of that corner of Piccidilly Circus, was just a facade. Just a fake wall with scaffolding behind it. I hoped, in anticipation of some future building. So, is it a completed building now or just a facade behind the lights?

    This is a fine trip you are showing so much. I would like to come for a 3rd visit (toward Spring next year) after all these years. Would have to figure out cost. Getting $ together to leave NYC is a bigger goal.

    I can't believe you met and walked with one of my favorite TH-camrs Jess from Love and London. Been following her channel for some time now. Every time I go to London I wish I can bump into Jess, or Hannah Ricketts a wonderful vlogger and Tom the Taxi Driver and a few others too. Great people In London who do TH-cam walks around London and other areas too. How did you get to meet her AK ??

    The distinctive red lanterns were originally set up for the Chinese New Year celebrations and then taken down. However, they were loved by the local people and tourists, and so the Chinese Traders Association decided to keep them on display permanently. @AK, you must come back one year for the Chinese New Year celebrations. There is usually a big program of events in Chinatown and Trafalgar Square that weekend. Hope you like big crowds as the place becomes packed with visitors!!!😀

    Im in Canada. and I'm a bit of a nerd. in anticipation of an upcoming trip to London a few years ago, I designed an excel spreadsheet graph to compare the daily temperature and humidity between Ottawa Canada and London. Interesting data, London did win, hands down, in the humidity category lol.

    According to a Google search, it rains 165 days a year in London with average of 23 inches per year spread out evenly across the year. NYC gets twice as much rain in inches, but only 129 days of rain.

    • @AM-dz2sh
      @AM-dz2sh ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you get a rain cloud that will last 10 minutes and then it's fine for the rest of the day. I actually liked the weather when I lived there. LOL

    • @agadoin
      @agadoin ปีที่แล้ว +1

      According to the Met Office it rains on average 106 days a year in London. Anything over 1mm of rain counts.

    • @davidcarbone3385
      @davidcarbone3385 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the info! I double checked and the source I read said 165 days rain, 200 days no rain so I updated my comment above. But I think they count 0.25 mm or more as a rainy day, which is not much at all.

    I heard also, that the reason Piccadilly is called a circus originally was because of how busy and crazy it was , and also the roundabout kind of thing in the middle of it (circle/circus)

    • @ActionKid
      @ActionKid  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s true!

    • @_JohnDoe
      @_JohnDoe ปีที่แล้ว

      A circus has actually had the meaning of roundabout (in the UK, at least) since _before_ (early 18th century) it had its most common present-day meaning (a spectacle), which it acquired in the _late_ 18th century.

    Is it really so much of a surprise that there’s so much NYC influence there at least in the way of the shops and restaurants? When I think about it makes sense, since there’s so many New Yorkers flying there and Vice versa and they’re both the biggest cities in their respective countries.

    To be honest, I just don't like central, as there are way better boroughs in London but Carnaby, Fitzrovia, Mayfair and Seven Dialls are a good shout, if you are visiting Central/the West End!

    • @1johncabs
      @1johncabs ปีที่แล้ว

      That is not how educated Americans speak, Sara. I am a retired American teacher. Please, " like, you know, like, I'm all, like, and he's like", learn a variety of verbs that describe what you wish to convey. I had to stop watching. Upspeak inflection is cringeworthy. I will never get "used to it".@@saratemp790
