  • If you enjoy smallmouth fishing with a ned rig, but are tired of it getting hung up, you may want to try this smallmouth bass fishing tip. My favorite bass lure is the Tiny Child Rig. In this bass fishing tip video, I explain my version of the Tiny Child Rig. This bass rig gets its name because it's so easy to fish, a child could do it. Don't let the simplicity fool you though, this rig will flat out catch bass. This setup is similar to a ned rig or a nikko rig, but it is a better weedless version. It is my favorite method to catch smallmouth bass. I have had success fishing it on both lakes and in the river.
    I didn't mention it in the video, but I fish it in on 20lb braid to a 6lb fluorocarbon leader. I typically use a 6'3" medium heavy, fast action rod.
    I hope this helps you catch more fish. If it does please leave us a comment.
    God Bless and tight lines!

      @@FISHINGWITHFRISBY I know guys prefer the size of largemouth, but it's the fight of the feisty smallies I love. Like hookin' a freight train!

    Will have to give this a try. I like how you just used a regular nail instead of suggesting buying a specific fishing nail weight.

    Good video Brad. I’ve never fished that rig. Not a big finesse guy. Never had much luck on the Ned. like the senko wacky rigged.

    I’ve done a version of this but the weight is a screw lock with a splitshot crimped on the end. Basically end up with a small screw-in weight. I use it for a compact/finesse punch rig.

    Pro Tip: Use Lunker City Insert Weights (lead) or Z-Man weights. Most nails rust and the rust will speed up the corrosion process on other tackle.
    Be well and yep! Great bait.
    I personally prefer 3” Senko FAT Worms and start with the 3/64 oz. nail weight size first.

      In 2022, most productive stream smallmouth bass fishing days for me were with:
      1/10oz. Z-Man Bullethead Jig and Z-Man BugZ 2.75” (Green Pumpkin).
      Be well.

    What is that rod you’re using? It looked to have a nice flex to it throughout the rod. I’ll get one if I can afford it. Great video and tip. I’ll be trying it soon. Thanks!

    What’s the exact nail you use ? Size ? Will the head of that nail be too big diameter for bottom of a 3” TRD ?

    • @FISHINGWITHFRISBY
      @FISHINGWITHFRISBY  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I buy them at Lowe’s. There is a link in the description of the video for the exact nail. They are an 1.25 in underlayment nail. They will work great with a TRD, but the ElaZTech is tough to get a nail in, that’s why I prefer the Yum Dinger.

    Looks cool so basically it’s just a Neko rig Texas rigged instead of the offset whacky rig interesting I’ll have to give this a try you should try the Neko rig I slay smallies on the river with it also I slay with a shaky head zoom finesse and trick worms

    • @FISHINGWITHFRISBY
      @FISHINGWITHFRISBY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching. Yes, it very similar to the Neko rig from what I can tell. I have never tried the neko, I need to tie in on the next time I go.

    Now explain why it’s called a tiny child rig.

    • @mightyturtle
      @mightyturtle 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So simple a child could use it.

    • @FISHINGWITHFRISBY
      @FISHINGWITHFRISBY  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I should have mentioned it in the video, but like Mighty Turtle said, it gets its name from its simplicity. You can’t fish it the wrong way. I have caught fish swimming it, hopping it or just letting in lay on the bottom.
