What's wrong with miracles occurring today in modern time? It be nice to see a miracle occur especially if you live in the 3rd world countries. Since science can only do so much miracles are needed. The Atheistic mindset, morality is subjective and evolution (survival of the fittest mentality) is fundamental, has abandoned the impoverished 3rd world nations. Miracles is what is needed whether it be inside a lab or inside an abandoned impoverished tent.

I had a disability for 10 years and was always rejected for disability and became homeless because if I even tried to work it was far too dangerous with my disability that I always had to be let go and no one would help and I would fall out of beds at a homeless shelter which they were worried they could get sued if I get injured, so no one could help and my disability was keeping me stuck homeless because I can't make money, but God answered my prayer and healed me so that I could work, have a spouse and provide for my family. God still does heal! I've prayed for many other healings for myself and others, but He's only chosen to do a miracle to heal only one part of me so far.
I'm still very grateful to Him for that and especially for what Jesus has done for us. Our injuries and disabilities and illnesses are all temporary, but our life with Jesus is forever if we know Him and He's saved us.

Recently my gran had a stroke which effected her ability to speak, I started praying, saying Lord work a miracle in this situation, my gran two weeks later had another stroke and a heart attack, still I prayed that she be completely healed, before my gran passed she had a long conversation with my mom, there were many words between the two and there was much laughter.
My gran shouldn't of been able to speak, her last words to my mom were love you love you love you.
My gran was raised a Roman Catholic but she gave her life to the Lord some years back after a car accident, since then slowly she had a change of heart and mind, despite their being some traditions lingering she seemed to have renounced the catholic doctrine.
My gran and I used to have the worst relationship you could think of, but when I gave my life to Jesus that started to change, I'm glad to say that before she passed we were on the best of terms.
God never promises to give us the things that we want, just all that we need and all the desires that are in line with his own.

Adam Adamowicz Catholic doctrine goes against the word of God. If a catholic calls a man of their church father then they disobey Christ’s commands to call no man your father for there is one Father. If a Catholic preaches to pray to statues such as Mary and holds her to be worthy and so clean as to claim she has remained a virgin after Christ, then this goes against the word of God. I’ve heard a Catholic preach about a place where people can go to after death where they get to work and pay off their debt and make it into heaven. It was referred to as purgatory. This is false doctrine and this all adds to the word of God. It is recorded in the last chapter of the Bible, in Revelation, that anyone who adds to this book, the Lord will add all the plagues to them that are in the book! Woe to them who follow the commands of Catholic doctrine!
A Christian follows Christ! None of those things commanded in Catholicism is commanded in the Bible. I’ve heard many stories from friends about Catholic school and they are no longer believers because of their strict ridiculous rituals. Forcing kids to pray for long periods and putting a lot of strain on the children! Woe to he who offends the little ones who believe in me for it would be better if a millstone was tied about their neck and they were casted into the sea! There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth!

God knows everything, right? Then why does he need to test you? He already knows the outcome of the test.
God has a plan for everyone, right? He is all-powerful, right? So no one can destroy his plan. God's test for you was set up by god and the outcome of that test was decided by god as part of his plan that you cannot change, because you are not as powerful as a god. So again: Why does he need to test you?

He said that some people believe this, not that he believes this. The verse you mentioned only applies if it is Gods will, so only if God decides to do it. I think this is mentioned in a different place in the bible. We could also consider that maybe there is a translation issue here and he didn't actually mean ANYTHING we ask for. Jesus may have also been referring to asking for certain types or things that have certain criteria and he might have meant if you ask while he is on the earth walking around and performing miracles. I think it is most likely that he meant that it will be done if it is in Gods will though.

Don’t listen to this guy^ he’s trying to weaken your faith. Using a weak and pitiful arguing against God by using actions human beings have done. How does that work?
Anyways, Maybe it’s not of God’s will to do so. Living your life here on earth with one arm and going to heaven for eternity is better than living life here on earth with both arms then burning in hell for eternity. Frank just explained that God doesn’t need to perform such big miracles anymore. Plus, we need to pray to God for HIS will to be done and have faith in that. Nick Vujicic was born with no arms or legs. Yet he’s a Christian man who believes in God and he believes in God’s plan before his own. God and impossible aren’t compatible, understand that fact. Plus the Bible shows us that people get their wishes granted (if it’s of His will) when they have faith and obey the commandments. Don’t put all your faith on someone growing another arm before your eyes. Think about what God has planned for that person.
The only thing we’ll be missing from our bodies in heaven is a sinful nature.

    • @adrianbed6984
      @adrianbed6984 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Darqstorms You're not understanding the argument. The "God wont heal amputees" argument has nothing to do with lack of faith or Him being cruel to amputees. It's about what the world would look like if God performed miracles after listening to prayers. The argument points out that if God is real and performs supernatural miracles, then you should expect a world where you see amputees healing along with other mundane healings. Since God isn't bound by the laws of physics, He can heal what he wants. But if God isn't real, we should expect to see a world where only physically possible recoveries occur and the impossible ones dont, since there is no god to intervene. And that's the world we live in. Therefore, it's more logical to believe that God doesnt heal anyone. Unless you believe in a god that purposely heals people in a pattern to make us think he doesn't exist. But I dont like that.

    • @Darqstorms
      @Darqstorms 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@adrianbed6984 okay part of the issue I see here is that you expect God to do what you want Him to as if He isn’t a perfect being not capable of making mistakes. This is His world and the moment you think your plans for this world are better than His, you’ve got to repent for that conceit. Again, if it is of His will to do so. This is earth, our first life. It’s a fallen world and it’s not always going to be easy. Our second life is where it’s at. Don’t place your faith in such a trivial matter. (This is about faith because since amputees don’t get healed you think no one does. Which is you losing faith in Gods works.) Just because you don’t see Him healing amputees doesn’t automatically mean miracles don’t exist. I’ve seen people get demons cast out of them and they start vomiting their sickness away. I’ve heard testimonies of God healing them after they’re prayed for. The fact that our universe is still kept together is a miracle

Over 500 eye witnesses alive during the documentation of these events. I’ve personally had my back healed. I prayed for a still born baby and it came back to life, but later passed away. The answer is simple to why God does or does not do certain things. I don’t know is the answer. All we can do is step in faith with what we know to be true. Jesus has risen. And Jesus will return. And I hope that you will join us when He does. :) much love from Az 🖤

Actually that's not true. There is a firmly recorded case in the mid 1800s of a man who's leg was amputated having it healed some years later. And he says it was healed by god. Granted it's not contemporary modern times.
But It's not 2000 years ago, and it haspretty much all the extraconfirmation you could ask for, from doctors and witnesses who knew him both before, and after the amputation. He even had a license to beg given by the state due to his amputation which required some of the afor mentioned doctors to sign off on.
The account of his amputated leg being miraculously restored is pretty much as water tight as any historical account can get but those critical of God, and the supernatural reject it on premis stating the faith based assertion that some other explanation must be mercenary even though all evidence we have says the explanation was miraculous restoration of his severed limb.

Because he already had a plan in David.
You don’t think the captive Israelites in Egypt were praying 🙏🏻 for salvation from their captors… Many went to their grave wondering why the Lord had not answered their prayers. The miracle was to be performed in Moses.
You don’t think the man born blind didn’t often pray for his sight to be made whole? Jesus was still just a babe in Bethlehem. That mans miracle was coming. Just not on his timetable.
We will all be Resurrected. The miracle of having our bodies restored and perfected WILL COME TO PASS. So… sometimes the Lord won’t deliver a miraculous blessing now… if He knows you’re going to receive it later.

  • @one-il5fu
    @one-il5fu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Another thing to consider as it relates to this question is the fact that miracles seem to require spiritual power be flowing through the one who is performing them. This is evidenced by Jesus noting that power had left Him when the woman with the issue of blood touched His clothes in Luke 8:43-48. It may simply be that a person who possesses the kind of spiritual power required to pull off the healing of an amputee is either non-existent or very rare in our current world, thus, we do not see it. Jesus displayed this kind of power when He healed Malchus' ear, but it should be quite obvious that the spiritual power flowing through Him was infinite and incomparable to what any normal human can achieve. As it is written, the Spirit was given to Him without measure (John 3:34). His sinless perfection was undoubtedly one of the reasons this was possible. That and literally being God.
Faith is another factor that cannot be overlooked. What was one of Jesus' main criticisms of His disciples and the people in His time? Their little faith or complete lack thereof. If the apostles, who were literally walking with Jesus, struggled with their faith, it isn't a stretch to think that many Christians today will face the same issue. So the question becomes how many people in the Christian community actually believe that God could heal an amputee? And even if they believe He can, do they believe He will? Maybe a miracle on this scale never happens because it is largely thought of as an impossible miracle, but the Bible says that with God, all things are possible (Matt. 19:26).
Another interesting theory is that healing an amputee would need to be a miracle of creation and those might be limited to God Himself. Other miracles may require the healing or repairing of what is already there, but an amputee must have the missing appendage completely recreated if the original has been disposed of. If we look at Jesus and the blind men He healed, there are some interesting things to observe that may support this theory. Think of the fact that Jesus healed many blind men throughout the gospels, and take note of the fact that He didn't heal all of them in the same way. Most notably, He healed one of them by making mud with His spit and placing it on his eyes, then telling him to go wash it off in the Pool of Siloam (John 9:1-7). Undoubtedly, Jesus didn't need to do this to perform this miracle, but maybe the use of dirt in that instance was a callback to Genesis or the Creation since God formed man from the dirt of the ground. Maybe it was a sign He was recreating things that weren't there.
We must also remember that God is a person, which means His will is involved. Maybe there's a very particular reason why He doesn't heal amputees. Maybe certain types of healings can only be performed by the Messiah Himself. In the Bible, no one else ever healed a blind person because one of the signs that the Messiah had arrived would be Him restoring sight to the blind (Isaiah 42:6-7). It's also possible that there's some other explanation we simply don't know of. The truth is we can only guess in this regard because, as a person, God's mind is unknowable unless He reveals it, and it doens't appear He's explicitly given an answer to this question. It is, however, safe to say that healing an amputee would most definitely not fall out of the scope of His power.

      You're missing the point.
Look, theists often claim that their god heals people. They then point to people they know who used to have cancer, but the cancer went away after they pray. And they use this stuff as evidence, that god has healing powers.
They are NOT talking about "mental healing", they are talking about physical healing. And even more, they are using it as evidence that their god exists, because if he didn't exist, he couldn't heal anybody.
And the question about amputees is here to show how silly this line of "evidence" is.
Because if god actually did use his healing power, to give us evidence for his existence, why would he exclusively heal stuff, which can go into remission naturally? Why wouldn't he heal stuff that CAN'T heal naturally, like amputations?

If the two miracle claims above are true, then your question is invalid.

There's no new revelation that needs confirmation.
So every time a person is born and grows up to be an adult, that person doesn't need confirmation? He doesn't need to have God come down and personally confirm with him he's real because God already did it 2000 years ago and we should trust the -scribes- -false prophets- -catholics- -protestants- wise men like the OP?

As I understand his comment, he means that the personal confirmation will be from the revelation of the resurrection/salvation, which may be new to the newborn but not new to the world. So, yes, we do need personal knowledge of God and Jesus/Yeshua Christ because we “must be born again.” “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” John‬ ‭17:3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬.
I pray, “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.” Ephesians‬ ‭1:17-23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The wages of sin is death. Unless we are here and survive to the end then we will all collect our wages in this life.
Jesus saved us to make us perfect for the life after this one. How can we learn to embrace a life without sin if we do not endure the trials of this life?
We all enter this world, we all leave this world. Is it so hard to believe that the body is nothing more than a vessel, a biological machine, that connects the eternal spirit to this realm?
If God created our universe to begin with and designed all that physically exists and did exist in it, then surely we can all be made whole and perfect in eternity. It does not mean it will happen in this life just because we would prefer it.
People have a struggle to let go of "control" in this life. That has been the common denominator throughout human history. We try to manipulate the things that we don't like about reality, never successful.
The truth is that whether or not you believe in a divine supernatural creator, you definitely are not being honest with yourself if you won't at least admit that we mortals have control over nothing in this world.

Miracles were great during the time Moses, Noah and Jesus walked on our planet. Materializing food, reanimating dead corpses, parting a large body of water, flooding that exceeded 28 thousand feet in height and people living for centuries.
What do we get today? "God cured my cancer, helped me find my car keys, reduced my sadness, and 'just look at a tree and tell me miracles aren't occurring'".

Le Rational SkepticTM I can admit there are things science will probably never be able to explain. It's not arrogant to try and see if something claimed as miraculous can be understood by the scientific method. Theists on the other hand exude arrogance. They know who made the universe, all matter, consciousness and time. On top of that they claim to be best friends with the entity responsible. Pot, meet kettle. Skeptics don't take the position that everything is or can be known and understood. Goddidit.
Let's see somebody materialize food. I'll gladly admit that such an occurrence would be supernatural. Or spontaneous limb regeneration. There aren't any evolutionary biologists who could explain that away. I'm from Missouri, the Show Me state. So by all means, show me some miracles.

Le Rational SkepticTM I was simply pointing out that the scientific method is responsible for luxuries which allow us to communicate.
I can understand why the church wouldn't want pesky skeptics hovering over their shoulders. Having a miracle debunked is terrible pr for those who operate on faith; and we all know the comfort blankets that theists drag around are very important for their sanity. Meanwhile, theists are free to join any STEM field they desire. Francis Collins has freedom of religion and scientific inquiry. I would never wish to exclude him from scientific investigation. "Religious bigotry!", shouted the theists.
You may not claim all the answers, but you and many other religions claim to know much more than any skeptic I've met. How nice it must be to have a direct line of communication with the entity who started everything. Perhaps you can arrange a meeting on Hangouts where we may all have the chance to greet your elusive, invisible deity.
Now show me limb regeneration on a human being. You're a master at dodging. If you can't, then enjoy having the final word. I'm out. Praise Allah, Poseidon, Thor, Ra, Horus, Shiva, and the thousands of other deities you willfully reject, sinner. Just one more to whittle away and we can become atheist buddies. It'll be fun. We'll go around killing, raping, torturing, enslaving, etc. I've got an extra brown shirt if you know what I mean. ;)

  • @collinsa8909
    @collinsa8909 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Frank dodged the question. First the question is wrongly worded to put the blame on God. God isn't to blame or unwilling or unable to heal. I think the reasons are lack of faith. Also it's not a healing but a regeneration. Most people don't have the kind of faith that can make this possible so they'll only see miracles at their level of faith. Two, the amputee may not hav the faith to believe for his miracle. Can you believe God for him to heal you of persistent migraine? If not how would you be able to believe him for a limb to grow out. Faith grows. Before David had the faith to conquer Goliath, he had conquered a lion and a bear. His faith grew.

(3) God decrees people to become amputees in order that his glory may be displayed through these people. Same theology applies to all sickness and disasters; God allows evil/bad things to happen in order that through the falleness of man and the world, His glory might be on display.

The point of the question is that there’s been a lot of ‘faith healing’ in the past 2 centuries and whether or not you think it’s a true Christian thing or false, the point is, the few times that “God” actually decides to do a miracle, he only seems to heal or cure things that can also be cured naturally.
How do we know those things aren’t going away naturally?
Why doesn’t an “all powerful” god ever do unambiguous miracles so they won’t be mistaken for anything else?
It’s not to say that he’s never done it in the Bible (sure: Peter; ear) and it has nothing to do with “why isn’t “God” doing more healing/miracles?” OR “why doesn’t he make everything in our lives perfect?”

So what if God chooses not to heal amputees.. would it make any difference?.. you'll still have haters, still have people waging war against God. Read the bible and you'll hear plenty of miracles performed by Jesus, and they still crucified him. God is more concerned about our hearts.. a clean loving heart Will get you into heaven, not a complete perfect healthy body.

I had a conversation with an atheist once who said that the only way he could be convinced of God's existence was if he personally saw God descend from heaven in all His glory. At that point, he would believe that God exists, but would hate Him for all the bad things in the Bible and that have been done in God's name. No amount of miraculous healings are going to convince people like that.

*So what if God chooses not to heal amputees.. would it make any difference?*
      YES!!!
      Of course!!!
Think about it! It would make ALL the difference!
After all, according to believers, god heals all kind of stuff all the time. Cancer. Fever. Head ackes. All the time, apparently!
And yet, it's always stuff that can disappear spontanously, naturally! It's always stuff, where his "healing" is indistinguishable from naturally occring recovery!
But amputated limbs growing back... that doesn't happen spontanously and naturally!
So, yes, if god could heal stuff that can't happen naturally, then we would have actual EVIDENCE for something that god has done, rather than just believers attributing naturally occuring things to their god!
So, OF COURSE it would make a difference! A huge one!
      So, why doesn't he?

*plenty of people witnessed God's power in the old testament right through to the new and they still refused to repent, some did but not all.*
Hey, then why not make miracles FOR THE PEOPLE WHO WOULDN'T?!?
Also, if you honestly believe that a miracle, like a re-growing of a limb, would not cause HUGE numbers of people to get convinced of the existence of a god, then you are delusional!
OF COURSE such miracles would make a difference!
So, why would go only "heal" people in a way that is indistinguisable from natural cures? Why "heal" cancer in a rate that is impossible to tell apart from natural remissions, while not ONCE heal a lost limb?
I do NOT believe you, that you believe your own excuse here! I give you more credit than that, to be honest. Because your explanation makes no sense, and even you know it on some level, I'm sure.

Frank, thanks for your commitment to the truth and to arming Christians with good answers. On this point, I have to disagree. Miracles are needed now as much as ever, and God is just as willing to do them. So many people, even in America, have not yet heard the simple gospel. Jesus promised to confirm the word with accompanying signs, and He does. The church doesn't see more miracles because most preachers don't have faith for them (few preachers have ever seen them on a large scale). But I've found that God can make quick work of a school, a business, or even a whole city with one bold witness who is willing to pray for the sick and take the heat for boldly proclaiming the gospel. I have over 160 healing testimonies from a six-week period, and I would be glad to answer any questions you have about it.

Miracles do happen but they're not the main objective Jesus demonstrated that by ignoring the disciples when they came back rejoicing after performing miracles He reminded them to rejoice because their names where written in the Lamb's book of life. God is more concerned about a human soul than our physical appearance.

  • @lilchristuten7568
    @lilchristuten7568 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yeah Frank is mostly wrong on this one.
Miracles occur because people believe in them.
God hasn't changed, He's still the God that can and does heal; and Jesus said that His disciples will do even greater works than He did.
When Jesus went around healing people it wasn't just because of some sort of confirmation it was because He believed that He had the power to heal and those that came to Him believed that He had the power to heal, a prime example is the woman with the issue of blood; she is the only one among the people thronging Jesus who got healed, and confirmation had nothing to do with it, her faith healed her.
Miraculous healings don't take place because people don't believe in them.

If he wanted to save the world he could heal everyone but that's just a temporary fix where he offers a permanent solution. And btw Jesus did heal an amputee the Roman shoulder came to arrest him there was an altercation and a Roman got his ear cut off then Jesus proceeds to revive his ear

    • @barryjones9362

Only Luke specifies that Jesus healed that ear, and under NT scholarship, that's grounds for thinking he is embellishing, since this is a great miracle the other canonical authors wouldn't likely have "chosen to exclude", thus their exclusion of it more likely means they didn't know Jesus healed that ear.
And it wouldn't matter anyway: an eyewitness to Benny Hinn's healings from the front row could tell you next week that they saw him healing others by the power of God, yet you'd strongly suspect that their eyewitness status doesn't do shit to increase the likelihood that they understood correctly what they were viewing.
And you are surely aware that the only time we hear about modern reports of restored human limbs by the power of God, is in circumstances where comprehensive investigation is nearly impossible.
I really wish Christian apologists would shut the fuck up about all this trifling bullshit and PUT THEIR MONEY WHERE THEIR MOUTH IS AND NAME SOME MIRACLE-CLAIM FROM THE LAST 100 YEARS AS TRUE.
My feeling is that the reason apologists feel more comfortable carping from the sidelines about gospel reliability and methodological flaws in naturalism, than they do about naming the modern-day miracle they think is actually true, is because they fear once they DO put their money where their mouth is and pick one modern-day miracle-claim they say can only be best explained by God, they will have their ass handed to them shortly after the ensuing investigation. Put up or shut up.
If you so fucking big on examining evidence, tell us which modern day miracle you think the Christian god is truly responsible for, and let's get started.
